“This is my number 1 go-to spot and my favorite restaurant of all time. I've been going to this location since they opened their doors and every time I walk in I feel extremely welcomed and excited to see the great additions they make. “Let me start by saying I absolutely love this place. Every meal I’ve ever had at Portillo's has been top-notch, and my latest visit to the Batavia location was no exception for the rest of my group, everyone was thrilled with their food as well as the cake shakes. However, I decided to try the breaded whitefish sandwich, and my specific order was a massive miss.

I am not exaggerating when I say the breading was thicker than the fish. If you looked closely, the slice of cheese was putting up a good fight for being thicker than the fillet, too. I even tried to take a picture to prove how shockingly thin it was, but even with my phone's zoom feature, the fish was indistinguishable from a couple of small pieces of lettuce because absolutely everything was buried under a tidal wave of tartar sauce (which I'm pretty sure weighed more than the actual whitefish).

In all fairness, I’ve since looked at pictures other people have posted, and it’s pretty clear my sandwich was an unfortunate exception. Other photos show a nice, thick breaded fillet, but my sandwich, aside from the bun, looked absolutely nothing like what others have pictured for this menu item.

I will absolutely be back for all my favorites, but the fish sandwich is a definite skip for me!“

“Couldn’t have picked a better day or place to spend the afternoon. I sat out on the patio with the sun out and blue skies, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish.

Kam was my server and absolutely deserves some recognition. He was balancing the bar along with the outside tables, but you would never have known how much he had going on. He was attentive, personable, easy to talk to, and made the experience feel genuinely welcoming rather than rushed.

I asked for recommendations on both food and beer, and he nailed them. I went with the spicy chicken sandwich, which came out perfectly and was absolutely delicious. Kam also took the time to suggest several different beers based on what I was looking for. I enjoyed everything I tried and ultimately found myself really liking their light beer option.

What stood out most was the overall hospitality. Great food and beer will get you through the door, but having someone like Kam taking care of you is what makes you want to come back. We had some great conversation throughout my visit, and he was friendly and engaging while still keeping up with everyone else he was serving.

“Our all time favorite coffee shop in St. Charles! The coffee & food is all delicious. Any time we visit the area we make sure to stop by (usually multiple times!). Our favorites are the iced decaf caramel latte, the double chocolate muffin, and egg & cheese croissant. Their special of the day - a raspberry white chocolate latte - was also delicious! “5�s, Panera! I ordered a panini and quinoa bowl for dinner / lunch tomorrow. Got to the car and found she thought I wanted a U pick 2 and only got a 1/2 panini �. Went back in and asked her and manager over heard. I said ok, if I didn’t pay for it then that’s ok. Manager Insisted on making me the other half and he threw in a bag of chips.
