“We arrived on a Thursday night about an hour before close and didn’t have to wait for a table, even though the staff were clearly handling a bustling front of house. Our server was helpful in selecting wine and we absolutely LOVED the roasted carrots and cornmeal brioche with caramelized onion butter. I’m drooling just thinking about these small plates.Oh yea, the pizza was some of the best wood fired pies I’ve had in awhile, both in restaurant and as late night leftovers the next night.Although the food and vibes seemed upscale, the casual attire and kindness of the staff made it feel warm and welcoming.“

Secondly, our servers have always been knowledgeable and attentive. Bee has been our server twice now and always takes such great care of us! Last and most importantly, the food and drinks! “We were looking for a non-touristy spot after seeing an amazing jazz performance at Preservation Hall. The bartender prior to the performance recommended a few places including The Grapevine. We sat at the bar and were greeting immediately and the bartender Michael was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They start out every meal with individually warmed baguettes and specialty whipped butter, that night it was cracked pepper and truffle. We shared a couple items off of the specials (an artichoke soup that was to die for and a roasted marrow bone topped with Creole style crawfish tails) and then the caprese which may seem simple but was done to perfection with a NOLA flair topped with seafood. The price point was also amazing for both food and alcohol. This was definitely our most favorite eatery experience while in NOLA.“

Bread Service

“The service was great. It had a nice bar and a peaceful feeling. We ordered pork belly, pork shoulder, octopus, beet salad, roti bread, spaghetti, and rice. The pork belly was by far the best dish. The pork melted in my mouth and tasted like heaven. The pork shoulder was great. The inside was cooked well and the sauce was okay. The only issue I had with the sauce was that it was too sweet. The octopus was also good because it had a nice and crispy outside and soft juicy inside. Definitely one of their top dishes. The best salad was refreshing and on point. The rice had a nice buttery garlic seasoning and the bread was nice and warm. The spaghetti was a little bit spicy but the flavors and taste were excellent. Deserts- chocolate Pana cotta with a strawberry jelly was brilliant. House made ice cream- blueberry rose, passion fruit, and banana fudge rum. The blueberry rose was my favorite as it had bold flavors and brilliant taste. The others are good but could be better. I definitely recommend going here and will come back!“

“All of my senses were OVERWHELMED with pleasure at Criollo's Jazz Brunch! The service and food was superb Michelin level quality. The live jazz band kept me entertained as I was coursed out. The chef elevated the fried green tomatoes and chicken biscuit to an award winning level. The chicken biscuit was smothered in jalapeño's, scallions and the best rue I have ever tasted so I sent my compliments to the chef. Every delectable bite forced my eyes shut so I could deeply enjoy the freshness, flavor and texture. While I was enjoying coffee the chef sent complimentary Rosemary & Lemon Custard Madeline's. It was an innovative way to approach this classic pastry. My only critique is the custard on top was so good I wanted more. Very light, fresh, and balanced melody of flavors. The consistency was reminiscent of a fusion between a scone and puff pastry. You can tell the French invited fries by how well the fries here complimented every dish. It was such a phenomenal experience, I found myself making reservations for the next day halfway through brunch and I am happy to say the food, service and entertainment are consistently great here. The fancy French atmosphere at Hotel Monteleone was fit for a Queen and the bathroom attendant cleaned the stall prior to each guests use. This is a must try spot in The French Quarter.“

“According to the hostess, this was originally an old rectory that they renovated and turned into a charming, warm and inviting space with kitschy seating. Upon entering, there is a dining space similar to a front room that leads into a livingroom complete with a fireplace. If you walk down the hallway, there is a curtained dining nook as well as an indoor patio and a lively bar area. They also have a super cute outdoor, open air dining space with plenty of seats. The house made focaccia was very delicious and a must! The oysters were good as they were from the east coast. We really enjoyed the roasted gulf shrimp, but we were not told that the heads would be on nor is it written in the description on the menu; so be prepared. Our main dishes consisted of the chicken under a brick and the daily fish of halibut. Both dishes were delicious! They only have two options for dessert and our chocolate tart did not look like the photo on their website but it was still good. The lavender semifreddo was fire! I couldn't stop eating it!Our waitress did a good job but there were a few things overlooked, like not being cognizant of empty water glasses, letting dishes pile up and not changing out our silverware and plates, however, she was in training, so we didn't say anything. This is definitely a neighborhood gem and not to be missed.“

She walked us through the menu and space and the night was magical. She is attentive to detail, organized, pleasant to work with, and thought of things I needed based on the guest list. An example, I had one child's dinner and she called to see if that child required a high chair. It was those little things that she caught that made the event a night to remember. The staff on duty that night were also A+. They were exrremely attentive to all our guests needs. We had guests from 7 different states from CA to AK and they were blown away by the balcony bar, the views, and the entire event. It made me so proud to put our southern hospitality on display. “After a lifetime of Grits avoidance, it was Apolline that finally turned me - actually changed my mind. I was a "Grits Convert" they said, as if it were a common experience from their point of view.Maybe it was just the first time I'd experienced Grits as anything better than bland and uninspired gruel. Or maybe the preparation here was exceptional. Whatever the case, the Shrimp and Grits was irresistible. I felt a shade guilty, as if anything this good must be illegal, even in a city with few such social limitations.Short version: The food was excellent and the service was genuine. It was an easy place to enjoy, easier to recommend.“

“This was our second time coming here! The alligator and etouffee dogs were really yummy and unique! Better than any normal hot dog. The etouffee fries were a bit too liquidy, and they could’ve put more meat, but we still enjoyed the concept. It wasn’t worth the $7, but it’s definitely something worth trying once.“

“Had dinner here opening week and WOW the food is delicious, drinks were awesome, wait staff was on point, and atmosphere is so cool! We had the brisket debris fries for an app, really good!!. I got the blue crab soup (sooo much crab, get a cup of this as an appetizer, it's so good) and the outpost chopped salad (it's almost like a deconstructed muffulleta- I planned on saving half, but I ate the whole thing). Husband got the skirt steak, and he loved it so much that I'm pretty sure he's going to request it weekly. We both got the Twerk the French cocktail, and it's like a strawberry cloud. Can't wait to come back and get another one or two :) We fed my son before we left thinking the wait would be long, but only waited around 10 minutes with no reservation. My son got the chicken tenders and fries to munch on while we ate. Very kid friendly like Velvet Cactus, since my son was watching his Ipad and not disturbing anyone around us. I've lived in Lakeview since before Velvet Cactus opened, so we were at their opening week too, and we've been weekly regulars for 12 years. Definitely found a fun new spot by the same owners!“

Just the best kind of place for mingling and eating. The steak was just delicious with that bone marrow on the plate. The duck three ways was just perfect ?“

“We didn’t eat anything there, but attended last week for Big Sam. Tickets were $25 and then Sam proceeded to hit everyone up for tips in such a way that it felt rude not tip more on top of the $25. I had never before been that hit up for tips after paying a healthy entrance fee. That will likely be the last time I take friends to see Big Sam in a local bar/venue.“

“I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a great breakfast here. While I am a pretty basic brekkie kind of girl, the sunny side up eggs were some of the MOST PERFECTLY cooked eggs I have ever had, as were the crispy hash brown and amazing bacon. Friends enjoyed the crawfish grits, the eggs Benedict and absolutely RAVED about the pulled pork waffle (add egg). We even got to pet the cutest pug! Will definitely be back. This neighbor place feels like a hug from maw maw, except the eggs are better ;)“

“Definitely a great event space. The process could not have been simpler. They sent over a one pager with prices and you had a minimum to meet, and the cancellation terms were more than fair. They were great at answering all our questions and very helpful. A no-brainer if you can afford the price. Thanks, Nancy!“

“Good value for a quick overnight stop and full nights rest. The hotel was very clean. Pillows and blankets very soft which the family liked a lot. Good water pressure. Location is easy proximity to explore tourist spots without being on the busy loud main drags. We took a 10 min petty cab bike ride to bourbon and walked all the way down and over to Frenchman. Chose a room with View of the river which was nice, the kids felt “fancy”. Only parking available is valet, but our dually truck was not accepted so we had to park overnight in the lot next door $40. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 9am on a Saturday which was annoying so do put on the do not disturb sign. AC was working well and strong but my husband said he noticed feeling stuffy from the vents.“

“This place has good food with lots of vegan/ vegetarian and gluten free options. It is very much a pick up food spot since it is in the market area. The market does have seating nearby, if not there are park benches around the market as well, but I took it for pick up to a bar that does not serve food. I had the vegan crab cake po’boy which was good, so I can only imagine that the traditional crab cake po’boy is amazing as well! I would most definitely come back to try that out or any of the other delicious looking options. They had a variety of food options with a lot of traditional New Orleans fares as well like red beans, okra gumbo and beignets. So I would say this is a great place to try some true NOLA foods. Also, true to the NOLA spirit, they also sell alcohol! Yay! Parking around this area is rough, so if you must park, I would recommend the parking lot a few blocks away.Vegetarian options: Just about all options had a vegan/vegetarian counter.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options, vegan/ vegetarian options“
