“This was the best night out I’ve had with my husband in a long time. The food was spectacular- I suggest the mezze platter so you can try everything, and of course the koshari. The mushroom fritters they had as a special were divine. The atmosphere and quality of service were top-notch and we will absolutely be coming here regularly.“

“Took my wife for her birthday, along with our daughter. Having been to Peru before and really enjoyed the flavors, we were excited to try this out. And the food certainly didn't disappoint. All of the dishes were very flavorful, including both the mango shrimp ceviche AND the vegetarian ceviche (which was something we didn't get in Peru!). The Causa reminded us of our time in Peru, and both the Peruvian Chinese eggplant and the cilantro lamb stew were very good. The former was a bit milder than we expected, but still delicious, while the latter was superbly seasoned with lamb that melts in your mouth. On the drinks side, we had a passionfruit sour, and the Chica sour and both were delicious. The dessert was their fruit mousse which was also excellent. We were seated outside as it was a nice summer's day, so I can't vouch for the interior. The service was good, though it did seem that one of the waiters wasn't particularly thrilled (either about serving us, or in general). The one who took our orders though, was polite and detailed and pointed out the vegetarian options for my wife and daughter. Keep in mind that this is NOT an inexpensive place. The items range from $17 for an appetizer to the high 30's for the main courses. But for someone craving for something different or just very flavorful food in general, this would be a great choice. I can see why this shows up on many of the lists for best new spots in the city. Highly recommended!“

“Fig is the best! Their takeout window basically got me through the pandemic, and I feel very lucky that this is my local. As a certified scone-hater, their blueberry scone is the best I've ever had. I recommend their lattes, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches (the cheddar cheese is SHARP), and chia pudding. Their lunch sandwiches are also great. 10/10 for staff, vibes, food, and coffee.“

She took the time to walk us through the menu, gave great recommendations based on what we were in the mood for, and checked in just the right amount - never too much, never too little. The atmosphere was astonishing!!! The food...we truly cannot say enough good things about an are planning when to take the trip from Vermont again to get more. We were blown away . However the highlight of our evening hands down was our Server Kevin!!! He made my Daughter's night ...focused on making her smile and gave her a piece of cheesecake to celebrate. The restaurant isn’t super big but I’ve never had an issue with walking in and getting seating. I feel like this area of Somerville has limited restaurant options so it’s nice that this restaurant is accessible if you’re in somerville.“

“We usually order from a different Shawarma place in Somerville, but decided to give Sam's a try. The food was very good, and in good sized portions. They were good about following requests to leave things out of the wraps. Note that they do the style with fries on the side rather than in the wrap. My only complaint is that they list some, but not all, of the ingredients on their site. So if you have things you can't eat, I definitely recommend calling them to double check. My partner can't do creamy sauces, and they listed tahini sauce but not garlic sauce in the lamb/beef shawarma, which ended up being a problem. Not a huge thing, just annoying that they make it look like everything is listed when it isn't.“
