After we got engaged, we stopped by his ice cream shop that night for a treat, and from that moment, we knew we had to work with him for our special day. Having Everyday Sundae at our pre-wedding park day/cookout was such a fun and personal touch. Everyone was so surprised and absolutely loved the raspberry sorbet and Everyday Sundae’s signature bourbon truffle ice cream. It was a huge hit with our guests! “I stopped by Pitango for dessert, and it definitely hit the spot! 😋 I tried two flavors: Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) and Fondente (dark chocolate). I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn’t sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey—it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! The restaurant was nice, clean, and had indoor seating that could accommodate several people, but I decided to take my treat to go.“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. I can’t believe the amazing and wonderful place I “found” today when I finally made the bold decision to try something different. At first, I was going to grab a slice of pizza because I was impressed by the look of the slices in the display case. But after I started my order on the tablet, I saw a brisket sandwich piled high with coleslaw. I ordered with extra sauce but didn’t need it because the flavor is absolute perfection. If you're just visiting the area and aren't sure if you'll come more than once, you absolutely have to get one of the Ethiopian pizzas, you're not getting that combination of flavors maybe anywhere else. The price of the Ethiopian pizzas is fair because of the amount of toppings that go on them and how filling they are. Even on an empty stomach I get stuffed from three slices of the Addis Ababa and have to save the rest for later. The service has also been very friendly every time I've been, just a great family-run small business!“
