“The food was so good! I ordered the crab cake sandwich (special for the day), with Mac & cheese and potato salad. I also ordered the sweet potato pie egg rolls with henny cream sauce. First, the crab cake sandwich was huge and meaty. It was very good and I’d go back off that alone. Everything else was very good as well. The sweet potatoes pie egg rolls were amazing and I don’t even generally like sweet potatoes, but it sounded so good and it didn’t disappoint. I also met Derrick and Shae while I was there and they were very kind. I’ll be back! I wish I had photos, but I ate the food too fast.“

“No other bakery like Seylou. We travel in to the city every weekend to eat here. The staff is so kind and feels like an extension of our family. They’ve taken my child behind the scenes and shown him how grains are killed and bread is baked. I could not ask for a better community and diet staple.“

“I love to try the best bakeries around the world and Bread Alley’s quality is definitely world class.
The harissa sourdough with black sesame crust was one of the best sourdoughs I’ve had in the US. Same for the almond croissant - insanely crunchy, buttery, not too sweet, with an almost custard like almond paste (devoured before we took a photo).“

“After seeing tons of cars visiting all day, I decided to check out the online menu. The steak nachos are tender and delicious, loaded with toppings. Taquitos with chicken were great. Also got the birria tacos, horchata and tres de leches cake. May need to return asap. 🤣“

“I went here for a last minute birthday cake run. They have a round cake and sheet cake available. My expectation was minimum due to the cake being a window cake, but I couldn't be any more wrong. The cake was delicious! The icing wasn't too sweet. The celebrant and guests loved it. The service was also very pleasant. Highly recommended!“

“I loved going here and the employees were so nice. I am gluten free and ate the cupcakes. One of the employees showed me everything they make that’s gluten free daily and what they can make upon request. I am partial to the gluten free chocolate cupcake but the vanilla was good too!“

“This bakery had done a magic for our party at the Woman's National Democratic Club on March 6, 2024 whereas their wonderful baker transform the cover page of our art album as an image onto the top of the cake that we ordered. This is not done by AI but by human with humanistic feelings and taste. Applause!“

“Excellent baked goods! We get stollen each Christmas, it’s a 30+ year tradition in our family. Several years ago, our favorite bakery we ordered our stollen from closed. Since then, we have tried various bakeries. Unfortunately, none have been as good…until now. Ravenhook Bakehouse stollen is the BEST we have had. It has outstanding texture and the amount of fruit is perfect. The figs were a nice surprise. Additionally, we also had the pecan bars, as well as iced Christmas and gingerbread men cookies They, too, were delicious. The pecan bars crust had the buttery goodness you want from a pecan bar, but weren’t greasy as some can be. The pecan filling was perfect. The gingerbread cookie had the amount of ginger you look for in this classic holiday treat. The iced Christmas cookies were classic in the best way.
We placed our Christmas treats order online and picked them up at the DuPont Circle Farmers Market - it was so easy. Additionally, Ravenhook has friendly customer service. I called with a few questions and the baker was extremely helpful.
We look forward to sampling more Ravenhook baked goods in 2025!“

“Picked up an assortment of pastries for a staff meeting and wow, they were delicious! We tried the cheese pastry, guava croissant, pain au chocolat, pistachio croissant, cinnamon pecan roll and the Kouign Amann. They were a huge hit! We saw the great reviews for Sylvan cafe and decided to stop in.

“I love their blueberry muffins. They are honestly better than almost any other blueberry muffins I've ever had, and I've had a lot. They have a good amount of blueberries in them, and the cherry on top is that they aren't too sweet for a breakfast item. Most muffins I have taste more like a dessert than a breakfast item. My only wish is that they were always available, as sometimes there aren't any left. Also, the pricing is extremely competitive. Not only are their muffins better, but they're also cheaper. My mom recommends the almond pastry, as it is similarly not too sweet but absolutely delicious.“

“Since relocating from NYC, I wasn't able to find any Sweet Potatoe Pies in the DMV that could measure up to the Pies I would purchase from Whimpies, a family owned bakery in Harlem (nolonger in business).
That is, until I stumbled upon "Uncle Paul's Pies" two years ago.

I have used them for birthday parties, bridal showers, gender reveals, and baby showers, and the desserts are always delicious and I receive so many compliments from guests. The owner, Lynette, is very creative with her designs and willing to match your theme. My favorite desserts are the lemon cupcakes, the 7-up pound cake and the variety of cake pops. Excellent customer service and even better desserts!“
