“The food was so good! I ordered the crab cake sandwich (special for the day), with Mac & cheese and potato salad. I also ordered the sweet potato pie egg rolls with henny cream sauce. First, the crab cake sandwich was huge and meaty. It was very good and I’d go back off that alone. Everything else was very good as well. The sweet potatoes pie egg rolls were amazing and I don’t even generally like sweet potatoes, but it sounded so good and it didn’t disappoint. I also met Derrick and Shae while I was there and they were very kind. I’ll be back! I wish I had photos, but I ate the food too fast.“

“My dad would always want our birthday cakes to be special, so he would splurge on them. This was his go-to. He ordered one for his 90-year-old sister. It was pink with stick figures. Super cute! The bagged breads and hard cheese: Are you kidding me? It’s all good. They even have pre-packaged rice pudding. Yum. Their offerings aren’t always consistent, but you’ll pretty much always find the sweet breads, the fresh loaves of bread, and dressed up cakes for parties.“

“Adorable little bakery tucked into an alleyway in Union Market. They're in the middle of the alley and impossible to spot (unless, as there often is, there's a line out the door), so it can feel a little sketchy to walk aimlessly through a random alleyway, but Bread Alley makes the walk super cute with a lovely string of arrows pointing you to their gorgeous black brick and wooden storefront.

They don't have a full-time cashier, so if you get to Bread Alley during one of their off-peak hours, you have to knock or ring the bell and wait for one of their bakers to come open the door for you. Once they do, you'll be welcomed into a cozy little shopping area with just a cash register, small pastry case (which just includes a few exemplary pastries -- the rest are in the back), and a wall of various types of bread. I didn't end up grabbing one of their breads, but I'll definitely have to make my way back for them; the harissa black sesame sourdough looked incredibly enticing, but I just, unfortunately, didn't have a need for a full loaf of bread at the time. However, I was in the mood for a sweet treat and decided to get a classic pain au chocolat. They don't have an indoor seating space, given their relatively barebones front-end, so I just ate my croissant as I walked home. It was a beautiful croissant, with a gorgeous lamination inside and nice glossy finish. It was a smidge too doughy for my taste, as I generally prefer really light and airy croissants, but it was still delicious.“

“I loved going here and the employees were so nice. I am gluten free and ate the cupcakes. One of the employees showed me everything they make that’s gluten free daily and what they can make upon request. I am partial to the gluten free chocolate cupcake but the vanilla was good too!“

“Came here for coffee and breakfast. I ordered bacon and eggs, wife ordered a croissant sandwich. Hers was better than mine. The small hash brown patties came soggy and almost undercooked. The eggs were fried nicely. The toast was supposed to be sourdough, but it was more like a thick cut of white bread and under toasted, probably because it's so thick. Bacon was nice. I had a cappuccino and it was acceptable, but not good enough to finish. This is a really clean, nice, professional coffee shop with a lot of working professionals stopping by. “1. I live in the neighborhood and frequently visit Tatte. The last few times I’ve been there the front line cashier were not friendly. The young lady who took my order today barely looked at me, she seemed uninterested and bored. This is the second time I’ve experienced this service. I love Tatte, but I can take my business elsewhere, where I feel welcomed. I lived in the area for the past 5 years and all the establishment I’ve frequented have great customer service. Experiencing this type of service of disappointing.

“This little shop is mighty, and its owner Catherine is so lovely! GBBO fans will be delighted that, yes, THIS is the place where you can find a cherry bakewell (#IYKYK). Be sure to ask if there are any savory offerings in the back - I recently had a terrific mushroom and spinach tart that convinces me that I should just buy whatever savory offering is on deck.I can't wait till afternoon tea service is available. “First visit, and the experience was mixed:

- Atmosphere: great, location is very convenient, suitable for working on a laptop, reading, small gatherings, etc.

- Food: very good

- Coffee: asked for it a certain way, but the barista who handled my request decided to not listen and make it the way they think it should be made, despite me notifying them twice.

There were two emplyees:
- A young man who was professional and warm in handling customer requests and responding to different incidents, which was very appreciated.
This is a five star review because of him.

- Another young person who needs more training on listening and delivering customer requests.
I tried to gently give them feedback on how they handled my order, but I was met with an “I don’t care about how you want your coffee, I follow the lines, take it or leave it” attitude, which was very cold even though they used polite words, low tone and gave a meaningless “have a good day” at the end.

Hopefully this will be better soon.“

Working from just a picture I sent her, Urzula recreated the Kit-Kat piano "keys" that gave the cake a 3-dimensional texture my son could "feel" as well as taste! She helped me make my son's special 30th birthday in his new 'hometown' of DC so wonderful--even working long-distance with his mom in another state to surprise him! Kudo's galore!
