“They make great Large Ice Macchiatos! I highly recommend. Don't go too close to closing time - they closed a couple of minutes early on us one time. But otherwise everything has been great - even the shakes which I recommend also. They are good at making custom drinks as well. We like a regular macchiato - no flavor with liquid cane sugar instead - a favorite in my household.“

“I stopped by Pitango for dessert, and it definitely hit the spot! 😋 I tried two flavors: Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) and Fondente (dark chocolate). I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn’t sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey—it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! The restaurant was nice, clean, and had indoor seating that could accommodate several people, but I decided to take my treat to go.“

Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

I was very surprised at the variety of flavors, I chose Vanilla (I figured you can’t go too wrong w/ Vanilla), IT was Delicious, I can’t wait to try some of the other Flavors now, the Homemade Taste was awesome, the prices were great, the speed of service was marvelous( It was seemingly right during “rush hour”, there was a line, however, the line moved swiftly, the Helpers (Young Staff), was very flexible, friendly, patient, quick, on top of things and handled business very professionally. This place has changed drastically from last time I remembered it, and the new owner always caters to the customers needs, whether it is checking if everything is okay, to checking ingredients ensuring that there are no allergy risks. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND GOING HERE! The place is cute, refreshing, and so clean. You can be confident that the owner takes good care of the store and you’ll be presented with amazing yogurt, good atmosphere, and a fun presence! The color changing cups are a GREAT ADDITION!

“I’m originally from Texas and I’ve eaten Mexican paletas (popsicles) my whole life. These are among the best I’ve ever had. You can see and taste the fresh fruit—so delicious and refreshing! The mangonada is also great if you’re feeling adventurous (it’s a spicy mango Mexican treat).“
