“I have been to this place about 10 years ago by one of my golf members who was an army veteran. My back ground is culinary/hospitality industry and was so impressed by service and also food quality.. His family and my family celebrated our special occasions every year. Now, we are coming back here again on August 27th to celebrate his 68th wedding anniversary and their 90years birthday also. This is his wife's pick and I and he are excited for next week event.“

Myself and four others went here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was phenomenal!
Phoebe did a fantastic job answering our questions about the menu and providing recommendations. When we all decided to do The Classics on the Chef's Menu, Phoebe made sure our wants and needs were addressed, and her and the kitchen provided the most incredible selection of tapas. If my memory serves, we received about 5 or 6 different tapas and two paellas. Then, at the end, the churros were included in the cost.
Overall, the value, quality, and service were all superior and when we're in DC again, we will be back.“

I’m so glad she did.

From the moment my partner and I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, friendly, lively, upbeat, and inclusive.

We ordered the Greek Wings, The Cheeseburger, and Huevos Rancheros.

The Greek Wings were hot, crispy, meaty, and savory.

The Cheeseburger was a classic done well, topped with American cheese on a toasted sesame brioche bun and served with crispy Belgian fries.

The Huevos Rancheros featured eggs, Mexican chorizo, tortillas, refried black beans, salsa, guacamole, pico de gallo, and fresh garnishes. He said it was hearty, colorful, and packed with flavor.

“My daughter and son-in-law treated me for my birthday and what a treat it was! From the birthday champagne treat to the special popcorn to the dessert and all meals in between—nothing disappointed. The food was delicious. Filet mignon prepared to perfection. Lamb chops, braised beef, shrimp—all delicious. The sides; I could go on. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Our particular teenaged granddaughter loved her chicken tenders. Even our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed her kids meal. Definitely will return. This was our first time but it won’t be our last. “I went with a friend to The Capital Burger on Newbury last week. The space was clean and comfortable, our server was really friendly, and the food came out fast. Great experience—I’d come back without a second thought.“

“Medium Rare features steak frites (or mushrooms with frites) and some desserts- that's it.

The price is appropriate- you get nice, crusty bread, salad, and 2 helpings of steak frites.

The food quality is good. However, one must be partial to mustard because the salad dressing is extremely mustard forward, and so is the gravy on the steak frites.

It's a cute concept and the ambiance reflects this. Some cheeky art alongside the children's drawings up on the walls. The restrooms refer to Pepe and Penelope from Loony Tunes and in the ladies room one can listen (and perhaps learn) some flirty French phrases.

The service was a mixed bag. Our main server wasn't very engaged with our table. Despite the fact that we had gift bags on the table (perhaps a clue that we were celebrating a birthday) she didn't ask whether we were celebrating. I had also marked the Open Table reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, but that wasn't acknowledged at all. Other tables were celebrated while we were dining, so I guess those patrons directly asked for the celebratory gesture of a sparkler in their sundae/cake.

Our server also wasn't too interested in keeping our beverages full, or in bringing extra hot fudge when we asked for it with our sundae.

However, our steak did arrive at the right temperature for each of us, and they brought the steak frites refills at the EXACT perfect timing (and the refills were hot and perfect).

Medium Rare is a fun restaurant with good food at a good price- we'll return.“

“The manager went above and beyond! I requested almond milk for my latte and they didn’t have any so she walked down the street and bought some 😊. The service was awesome and the food was phenomenal.“

“I’ve been coming to proper for maybe close to two years now. They have my favorite food item in all of DC (Birria Eggrolls that I highly recommend) and the kindest bartenders and servers. They make me nonalcoholic versions of beverages so that I can try them if I ask (shout out to Molly). Everyone that works at this location is so sweet and helpful and give the best recommendations. Recently went for a couple of the World Cup games and they were swamped but still did their best. So proud of you all and will continue coming as long as I am in DC.“

Stopped in here for brunch with a 1PM reservation on a Saturday. Party of three. We opted for bottomless mimosas (pineapple and cranberry). Our waitress(es) were a delight and attentive - Shoutout to DeLo! My two friends opted for the breakfast burrito while I had steak and eggs. The potatoes were seasoned well and the steak was cooked to my preferred doneness. Since it's a bistro they did not have steak sauce - however they offered me other options which included a mushroom gravy type sauce which paired so well with the steak. I would return just for that combination. I didn't see too many reviews for brunch so I wanted to provide some pictures for that. It's a small space with cute esthetic. It reminds me of a nice remote working coffee shop vibe. I cannot wait to return!“

“In my 50 yrs of living on this earth, and have traveled abroad and tried many different places…my experience at The Dabney has been by far the best I’ve experienced. Everyone from host to chefs made me feel like a star. The bar staff, servers, the atmosphere, and the chefs!!! Top tier and would highly recommend!!! Not only was the service excellent…talk about hospitality on a 100! But the FOOD!!! I mean I would’ve been a happy camper just on the drinks from the bar (gotta try the FORWARD drink!! Whew!) and the service alone, but the FOOD?! We were treated to a five course, and every single bite, morsel that I tasted sent every bit of my taste buds to heaven!!
