“This is an update. A year ago I had a horrible experience here after coming for over a year - service was slow and the bartender just hung out and talked instead of checking on me.

Tonight however (and this might make a difference - I was seated at a table in the main area. I had a server who wasn’t a bartender (Sebastian) who was great. He was timely but not rushing, th food was great and not delayed, and the drinks were timely and well made.

“Such a great experience celebrating our 41st anniversary at Seasons 52! Our server, Ben, was extremely gracious and made sure we were able to take our time, and celebrate our special evening. He made sure to time each course perfectly in time with our own pace. We really appreciate the management and chef at Seasons! They were very generous with a champagne toast, a special tuna tartare anniversary presentation, and a special celebratory dessert! Of course, we topped it off with their signature mini-desserts of key lime pie and the cheesecake & caramel. “We went to there to celebrate our anniversary had a great time. The service agreed was very great friendly and fast. The food was delicious and they also have a kids menu with a very unique way of displaying that menu. The firefly burger was delicious the kids enjoyed their chicken tenders and fries as well as chicken and waffles. The grilled chicken was ok.“

“I went with a friend to The Capital Burger on Newbury last week. The space was clean and comfortable, our server was really friendly, and the food came out fast. Great experience—I’d come back without a second thought.“

“Again, a fabulous dinner at District Bistro. Because it was Valentine's Day, there was a fixed-price menu: $65 for three courses. I started with the 1/2 dozen oysters (a treat!) and my partner had the house-smoked salmon with caviar. Both were delicious, but the salmon was a special surprise, topped with thinly sliced kumquats and capers; it was an unexpected taste sensation! I chose scallops for my main course--I almost always get them here, and they never disappoint. They were perfectly cooked and served over a warm black lentil salad. My partner chose the lamb chops that came with a tasty harissa-eggplant sauce. They were tender and cooked just right--a little pink in the center. For dessert, I had the kumquat and pistachio creme brulee. I wasn't sure about my choice, but it ended up being delightful. The creme was rich, but not too heavy and the crust on the top was caramelized perfectly. My husband had pear pecan sticky pudding--yum. We had been tempted to go elsewhere for Valentine's Day because District Bistro tends to be our go-to. I am glad we didn't!!“

“A lovely space all hours of the day. I’ve been before for dinner and made it there this morning to do some work and breakfast.

The upstairs feels like a cozy chateau, the fireplace blazing and plentiful seating options. People are sharing tables, putting coats on the rack, chatting, and typing away.

I sat near an outlet and wifi was quick and easy to log on to. Latte and bagel were fabulous and they brought both to my table.

I can’t wait for it to get warmer so I can use their outdoor space once again!“

“The Wagyu burger dropped me to my knees. I felt unworthy eating it, as if it knew my deepest sins and demanded a sacrifice to the Gods prior to biting into it. I ruined its perfection with tears in my eyes. The side of Truffle fries were unique and delectable. Had Key lime pie for dessert and it was pretty darn good, and believe me I’m extremely critical when it comes to key lime. Service was pro and staff were stellar: Can’t recommend this place more.“

What really made the night stand out was our server, Noni. She was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the massive menu. She took excellent care of our table, ensuring our drinks were always full and our food came out perfectly. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, she maintained a warm and positive attitude. “In my 50 yrs of living on this earth, and have traveled abroad and tried many different places…my experience at The Dabney has been by far the best I’ve experienced. Everyone from host to chefs made me feel like a star. The bar staff, servers, the atmosphere, and the chefs!!! Top tier and would highly recommend!!! Not only was the service excellent…talk about hospitality on a 100! But the FOOD!!! I mean I would’ve been a happy camper just on the drinks from the bar (gotta try the FORWARD drink!! Whew!) and the service alone, but the FOOD?! We were treated to a five course, and every single bite, morsel that I tasted sent every bit of my taste buds to heaven!! “This restaurant, since it opened, has been one of the most consistently excellent in the entire WDC area, and a favorite of mine. The oysters are the best available, the wine list is outstanding and quite international, and the food is always cooked to perfection--but it is expensive, just plan on that. I had Chilean seabass (very $$$) and my guest had a salad (all of their salads are original and terrific) and their wonderful New England clam chowder (which could use a bit more bacon, as another restaurant in town does....) And this is the only restaurant in Washington where I ALWAYS have dessert, their mini-triple creme brulees -- superb! Finally, we had a new waiter, Alex, who was simply the best, most knowledgeable and thoughtful I've experienced in Washington this year. Amazing, keep him!“

“There are steakhouses that sell beef, and there are steakhouses that sell ritual. Medium Rare in Bethesda understands this distinction with the calm certainty of a Parisian waiter who has seen three revolutions and still refuses to split the check.

You arrive thinking you’re getting dinner. What you’re really getting is doctrine: bread warm enough to make diplomacy possible, a salad dressed with enough mustard to wake the dead, and then the famous procession — steak sliced thin beneath that green peppercorn sauce that lands on the table like artillery support. The fries arrive in impossible abundance, followed shortly by the second helping, because Medium Rare subscribes to the old French principle that restraint is for Calvinists and people with no appetite.

The room hums with Bethesda ambition: lobbyists, exhausted consultants, first dates, silver-haired couples who’ve been arguing since the Carter administration. Everyone united beneath the banner of red meat and clarified butter. Glasses of wine appear and disappear with military efficiency. Somewhere a server announces “second round of fries” with the moral gravity of a cathedral bell.

But the restaurant’s greatest flourish may be hidden in the bathroom, where French lessons adorn the walls like graffiti from a civilized empire. You stand there memorizing useful phrases while washing peppercorn sauce from your hands. “Où est la bibliothèque?” “Je voudrais un café.” It is perhaps the only restaurant in Maryland where you can leave knowing both how to order steak frites and how to ask directions in Lyon.

And somehow it works. The whole enterprise feels faintly absurd, deeply confident, and unmistakably charming — like an American trying very hard to become French and accidentally succeeding for two hours at a time.

Medium Rare does not pretend to be subtle cuisine. It is abundance, repetition, butter, noise, and confidence. In Bethesda, that may be the closest thing to authenticity there is.“

“Didn't realize this was inside a hotel, when looking for a better breakfast than the weak $37 hotel buffet where I was staying.

Less than $25, real made to order omelets and waffles, giant pork sausages and mounds of quality bacon. Juice and coffee included. I was going to order off the menu, but why order onr omelet when you can have all you want for a few dollars more.
