“I stopped by Pitango for dessert, and it definitely hit the spot! 😋 I tried two flavors: Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) and Fondente (dark chocolate). I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn’t sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey—it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! The restaurant was nice, clean, and had indoor seating that could accommodate several people, but I decided to take my treat to go.“

Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. “The best almond croissant and blueberry matcha! I got regular size blueberry matcha and an almond croissant and paid 15$ - a little overpriced. One star deducted is for that reason. Nice ambience and I usually don’t like matcha that much much this one was fire!“

“In terms of food quality, this place is great. But the two times we’ve been there, it’s been within the last hour of closing and the smell is this place is TERRIBLE. Like truly awful. Smells like a mix of cleaning products and a portapotty. I’m not sure if they’re having plumbing issues or if it’s part of the end-of-day cleaning process, but hopefully they can address it. Yogurt and toppings are great though!“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

Whipped cream, chocolate & caramel syrup is added to the top. It’s the best treat on a cold winter night or day at the zoo. Thank you!! I’ll keep coming back & bring friends.“

“I loved this location and when we got off the boat tour I was so excited to get some gelato and have a view of the water. There was a big selection but employees weren’t super friendly and the gelato wasn’t as creamy as I like. The portions were big but I tossed half of mine“

“I went there today with my 7 year old son for a banana royal for me and a scoop on a cake cone for my son, the ice cream was superb! If you ever go I would recommend the banana pudding with some cookies and cream it won’t disappoint. For my son he chose little blue panda on a cake cone and he loved it he still hasn’t stopped saying how much he wants more. On top of that the customer service was amazing the lady had a little conversation with us about our day and even gave my son some Oreo’s. On top of all of that the price was just 12.58! Was way cheaper than baskin Robbins. 10 out of 10 highly recommend.

Kid-friendliness: I went there with my 7 year old son for some father son bonding and the lady there was incredible, she was very kind and friendly, had a little conversation with him and gave him some cookies too I loved how she treated him and will bring him again very soon“
