“I’ve been going to Moby Dick since 2006 and never a single disappointment. My boss lived in Japan for five years and wouldn’t dare lower himself to sushi in Wheaton. When he finally went with me - well, best sushi he’d ever had outside of the far east. From the basic to the high end roll, you’ll never be disappointed. I live in Bethesda now and nothing here comes close!“

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“Our visit to Zeppelin was absolutely breathtaking! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with the most exceptional hospitality by Ari and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, paying tribute to the Golden Age of the Great Passenger Airships. But the real standout of our experience was the food. It was absolutely divine. We began our meal with the Edamame and Miso Soup, both of which were the perfect starters and set the stage for the rest of the meal. The Seaweed Salad and Cucumber Sunomono were also refreshing and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we decided to indulge in a variety of dishes from the KushiYaki (Japanese Charcoal Grill) menu. The Ebi Shumai and Beef Harumaki were both cooked to perfection, while the Takoyaki was a fun and tasty snack. But the standout dish was the Okonomiyaki, with its tempura, red ginger, okonomiyaki sauce, and mayo creating a truly unique and flavor-packed experience. From the sushi bar, we sampled a variety of rolls including the Negitoro Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Each one was expertly crafted and perfectly balanced in flavor. We also tried the Sashimi Sampler, which was a fantastic way to try a range of different fish. For dessert, we couldn't resist trying the Green Tea Ice Cream, which was the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note. Our experience at Zeppelin was truly extraordinary! The food was delicious and the hospitality we received from Ari and the rest of the staff was top-notch. “The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.

We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!

Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.

We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.

“My second visit, and the first one for two companions, we went for lunch. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet but not overly so. The staff greeting at the door is very pleasant, with smiles all around. Takumi offers specials for lunch, for $16-$18, including a Sushi one. The specials are served on a beautiful dark wooden tray, which includes the appetizer (salad or miso soup), a choice of 4 main courses (I enjoyed both Don, a bowl or rice with either eel or chirashi, a mix of raw fish; also on offer is a shrimp tempura, and the third dish is a nigiri sushi roll, (choice of 4). With this comes a small tray with three compartments, one with a salad (I had squid once and seaweed once), two and a piece of soft tofu in a slightly sweet syrup to wrap up the meal. The a la carte menu is very tempting as well, and the special rolls are delicious. All fish is flown fresh from Japan, and included Hokkaido uni (sea urshin) which was wonderful. All around, a lovely experience. We will be back!“

“Amazing sushi! I've tried Kusshi, kura Sushi, and Uzu Sushi in the Rockville area and was not impressed with their quality at all. However, Sushi Toro is always consistent with their quality especially for their price. The sushi tastes amazing and fresh, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. Easily the best sushi I've had in Rockville. Highly recommend!“

“Our sorority held a fundraiser with Kusshi recently, and not only were they easy to work with and incredibly generous, but the service was helpful and quick, and the food was beautifully plated, fresh and delicious. Def recommend going for a nice night out!“

“I had been waiting 3 years ever since the sign went up saying this was coming to my area. Finally for my birthday I got the chance to go and it was not a let down. The front of house staff was very friendly and seated my party immediately. The waitress took no time at all to get our drinks and come back with them and take our complete order. We put everything in at the same time and they did an excellent job of pacing the salads, appetizers, and main meal. The food was absolutely fantastic and gorgeous to look at. I will be returning so we can sit for a hibachi show! The only thing is I slyly mentioned it was my birthday hoping to get a song, but that did not happen lol.“

We recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt to find a go-to sushi spot. I think we found it! Portions were great, price was fair, and it felt great supporting a local business over all the chains around Rockville and Bethesda. A couple chefs and one super friendly woman serving the food.

This isn’t the place you go to for a full on dining experience with fancy/expensive cocktails. Because the majority of their business is takeout, everything was served out of to-go containers. As long as you don’t have issues with this, as we didn’t, you’ll enjoy it.

Got there early for dinner and was seated right away. I love that they offered the Japanese skewers. We ordered pork belly, beef, and shrimp. All were amazing! We wish we ordered more of them. Also ordered the Gyoza that had pork and chicken in them. They were good but the ponzu sauce wasn’t the best. I ordered the Sake Don which was raw salmon with seasoned sushi rice. Solid takeout sushi. I was desperately craving sushi on evening and, after perusing Uber Eats for a bit, settled on Toku after receiving a recommendation from a friend. I got their sushi combo, which came with ten assorted pieces of nigiri and a California roll, as well as my choice of miso soup or salad. The sushi was super fresh, and I appreciated the variety of fish chosen for the nigiri; I didn't care much for the California roll and would have loved the option to switch it out with a different roll, but it's perfectly reasonable for them to not allow those types of swaps. It was a solid meal and absolutely satisfied by sushi craving.“
