“We love Colonial Diner and have been going there for years. They have the best food and best staff, along with an amazing atmosphere. My three year old asks to go there for practically every meal and we are always greeted like family when we walk through the door. This is the best diner I’ve ever been to. “Great Italian food and a decent menu, not much choice but not too much. It's located next to Post Office 34 and is very trendy. The view and service are great, but it's noisy as there isn't much to absorb the sound. We ordered focaccia, roasted peppers and pasta. Everything is great and super fresh.“

“This was a fantastic experience! From the moment we stepped inside, the staff was courteous, engaging, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a party of 3, and ordered 6 dishes. Each dish came out as it was made and each dish was absolutely delicious. A person in our party had a gluten allergy which was no problem and accommodated with ease. We come to NY every year and this will absolutely be a place we revisit again and again! Vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike will appreciate the dishes and be amazed with the taste! Highly recommended!“

“Great Restaurant Week Dinner. We have been to about 10 different restaurants for this year's restaurant week and Essex was far and away the best. The wagyu tartare was fantastic as was the grilled shrimp over polenta. Petite filet mignon had a $10 ucharge bupt was well worth it. The space was beautiful and our server, Jenna, was knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!“

“Loved every dish- fluke with black tea, mint and peach(who knew raw fish and fruit went so well together?), amazing grilled artichokes and grilled eggplant. Barely touched my pasta with preserved lemon because I was full, but it was delicious. My daughter’s burger was iconic. The Platonic ideal of hamburgers. Coffee was also delicious. If we had not made a plan to go to La Cabral for dessert and more coffee, I am sure dessert would have been equally excellent.Service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable and interested in the food.The fluke reminded me of the first time I went to USC in 1988. I had a plate with raw marinated tuna, raw salmon and raw scallops. The little heaps of fish were so pretty on the plate with their contrasting colors.“

“Blue Hill is a basement restaurant on Washington Place in the West Village that has been making a quiet, serious argument for farm-driven cooking since 2000. Dan Barber built both this and the more celebrated Blue Hill at Stone Barns around the idea that what a farm produces, including the things farmers can't sell and the parts of animals that restaurants typically skip, is the most interesting starting point for a kitchen. The room is intimate and warm with exposed brick and low ceilings and the kind of hush that comes naturally to a place below street level.
The menu changes constantly based on what's coming in from the farm that week, which means specific dishes are beside the point and the philosophy is the whole experience. The vegetable preparations here are consistently the most memorable thing on the table, roasted and sauced and composed in ways that make you rethink what a vegetable dish is supposed to accomplish. A roasted beet with something fermented and something creamy alongside was the kind of course that arrived looking simple and tasted like a lot of thinking had gone into it. The grain dishes are another area where the kitchen's sourcing shows most clearly, ancient varieties with textures and flavors that supermarket grains don't carry. The roasted chicken when it's on the menu is the comfort dish the room earns, properly golden and served with vegetables from the same farm. Desserts are restrained and seasonal and land cleanly after a meal that has been building toward them.“

“My wife and I generally eat for five people, we ordered 4 small plates and 2 mains, still looking into dessert. Each dish had its own layer of perfection with unique flavors and exquisite presentation. I’d say a restaurant on its way to becoming Michelin…..bravo! “I went there with my boyfriend and his father during a trip in NYC and we weren’t disappointed. My boyfriend had the kofta kobab which had a very meaty texture. His father had the wild mushroom kobab and I took the braised "beef". Everything was delicious, including the dessert (ekmek kataifi) which wasn’t too sweet, just perfect 😊“

“Such a great hidden spot. Good for drinks/ date or business dinner. Overstory is amazing, but this place is a bit less fuss, while still being great. Especially if it's not great weather for a good view- I like Crown Shy better in winter.
Service can be slow during peak times, but food was good. Book reservations for a table (pretty standard at this type of place.)“

“Amazing! We had so much fun visiting Medieval Times! I had been here as a child but it's been over 30 years and I barely remember much. No worries though, going as an adult was just as fun, if not more. My wife and I just had such a good date night. Prices were fairly reasonable for drinks, pictures, and souvenirs. Dinner was excellent, our server was absolutely amazing, and the show was so much fun. We both really enjoyed the falcon show and the beauty of the bird brought a tear to our eyes. We truly had an amazing night and it's great we have a beautiful photo to mark the occasion. I highly recommend visiting even if you are thinking about it just a little!“
