“I grew up in NYC so I’m no stranger to halal carts. Since I’ve moved to JC (which I know is only across the river, but the food scene really is different), I have yet to find my go-to halal spot… until now! I paid $10 for a chicken over rice. The chicken was so juicy and they were very generous with the chicken and sauce. So delicious but also so dangerous that I’m so close by“

“Mr. Falafel on Halsey Street is absolutely phenomenal. The food is fresh, flavorful, and truly delicious every single time. The falafel is crispy, the portions are generous, and the service is wonderful. The staff are kind, welcoming, and make the whole experience even better. A tremendous spot in Newark and an easy 5 stars.“

“Humble seems to be the best word to summarize this restaurant. The men who run it seem to have a great rapport with their customers; they’ve been there for 20+ years and it shows. They were kind and accomodating. The food was plated carefully and was pretty taste. My only complaints were putting margarine on my pancakes without asking and the tiny plastic utensils, which left my hands covered in syrup. However both of those go to the restaurant being unpretentious. There’s no atmoshere to speak of but it was clean. I’d eat here again but probably wouldn’t go out of my way.“

“This is absolutely the best eaterie in Halsey Village. It's a regular weekly stop for me and they always remember my name and what I order which by the way is simply the best chicken and rice etc., around. The staff are friendly and welcoming in an atmosphere that is open and relaxing.“

“Great place but your store and a few around you constantly have bums breaking into your bathroom putting guide wires down the drains and all, ripping up the PNC bank right next to you and triggering the bank alarm to harass buildings with older static based alarms all around, this is related to building 55 and a very noisy storm drain at Manor drive and Norman road, thisnis an undergroubd T section that a used in combination with deep earth scamning 2854hz to find gold and silver s r wash that along with a MISSING PHENTYYLIN PACKAGE 4 YEARS AGO.to capture it in these tunnels and other nasty things. Friday 10 am the fun started from. Your store on the 26th and you and your family is most likely being targeted. Don't forget o ly speak with officers in person and when they can presentan id.“

“Excellent food. Ordered Chicken burger, fries and friend chicken. Food was fresh, tasty and warm. More than everything, had a great conversation with Mr. Javed while waiting for my food to get ready, who is the owner of the restaurant and a thorough gentleman. Will highly recommend.“

“I got the kabab platter, a drink and baklava. The platter was good, my favorite was the kofta. The baklava wasn’t too sweet but had a faint taste of coconut that im not used to, overall I would recommend this place! The customer service was nice and the restaurant is clean and filled with beautiful art!“

“I am from Montclair but travel to Newark often for their chicken, mac and cheese, onion rings, pizza and shrimp. Yum. Their employees are wonderful. The restaurant is busy because their food is worth it. It is inappropriate for anyone to suggest that their location means they should sell their good food for cheap.“

“Food is of excellent quality. Affordable, fresh, quick. Customer service is awesome as well with very friendly workers! There are 2 locations on Broad St. (1 near Military Park and another by Market St.) and one on Warren St. by Rutgers. Best halal street cart food in Newark!“

“Was VERY hungry and I ordered from Hampton inn. Food was delicious delivered within 15 min I was surprised. Nice big portion, my daughters cheeseburger was huge and delish! I had chicken and lamb over rice. Presentation was great but did was even better. Was on vacation but I would highly recommend this establishment.“

“We loved eating there when we lived in Newark, so we stopped in for a breakfast sandwich. They forgot the cheese on the bacon, egg and cheese, but they were getting ready to close for Jumuah salat, so they were kind of busy. It still tasted good, especially on that whole wheat roll.

This establishment has great food and the brothers respect the community they serve. They hire locals, too, and I love to see that! The service is friendly, welcoming, and respectful. “This used to be a full service restaurant before Covid but now only takeout and delivery available. Has good extensive menu and good service. The food is hit or miss based on my experience.
