“I ordered delivery. I ordered three rolls and they sent only one packet of soy sauce. I even made sure to request soy sauce. The crab Rangoon was chewy and tasted like they were freezer burnt. Very disappointed.
Update: I gave it another try and everything I ordered was great!“

“If you’re simply here to enjoy good food, then you came to the right place. The ingredients are solid and absolutely worth the price — honestly, even comparable to places that charge $200–300.
But if you’re coming for a date or looking for ceremony and ambiance, this isn’t really the spot. There’s no detailed ingredient presentation or any wow-factor moments.
One more thing to note: after you finish all the courses, the extra add-on dishes aren’t really worth it.
Everything else is great though“

“Best sushi we’ve ever had! Chicken gyoza was so good. Udon bowl was incredible. Spicy tuna, avocado roll and yellowtail scallion were top notch. Service was amazing. What a find for a meal prior to a concert at Terminal 5. Fantastic pricing as well! Highly recommend.“

“One of the most incredible omakase experiences I’ve had. Our server was very intentional. She gave a brief description of each piece as she placed it in front of us, and we talked about the flavor profiles. You could tell she truly loved what she did. She was also very kind and friendly.
If you want your omakase experience to feel like a dinner table, this is it. ✨“

“The girl who attended us was incredibly kind and patient, explaining everything with such care that it made the whole experience feel even more special. And the chef… What a wonderful person. Friendly, warm, and genuinely passionate about his craft. He explained each piece with detail.“

“Nice atmosphere and music, perfect for pleasant conversation, fresh ingredients, nice flavorful pairings. The sushi was very fresh. My only criticism was that the hand rolls are served with the seaweed in plastic wrappers, which makes eating the rolls a bit clumsy as you wrestle with the roll to pull off the plastic wrap. Otherwise was a great meal and would recommend.“

“Went after Christmas for dinner. Fresh and delicious sushi and appetizers. If you like green tea must have the green tea ice cream for dessert. Cocktails were well crafted and servers, host offered impeccable and attentive service. Highly recommended.“

“Came here during happy hour as walk-ins. Busy, but the wait time wasn't too bad. Service was fast and staff were friendly.
Sushi tasted fresh! I do not recommend the mochi ice cream—it was too hard and a bit flavorless“

“I happened to walk past this window and noticed this little restaurant. Since the next seating hadn’t started yet, I was the first one to sit down and got a unique experience. I was able to watch the chef prepare the ingredients from start to finish — you could truly see how fresh everything was.
They were very friendly and even offered me complimentary sake. The food was delicious, and the flavor combinations were perfectly balanced.
Next time, I’m definitely bringing my friends with me.“

“If you have not experienced Omakase before, or are always on the lookout for high quality fish, you should stop by here! The flavor combinations were absolutely fantastic. The chef is very educated and versed in anything sushi, as well as other cuisines. There was a large selection of sake, and we were guided on what pairs well with certain types of fish. The team members are very sweet, it was nice to connect with them and have a real conversation over a great meal. Can’t recommend this place enough! We will be back :)“

“I love this place. The sushi is excellent, but it's a more relaxed and approachable atmosphere than other omakase places. And even better is that there are multiple counters and tables so you're actually able to get a reservation rather than competing for just a dozen seats per night. 😄 Really, though, the food and service are great. I have taken multiple groups here on business dinners, and we always have an excellent meal. And the service is so attentive - for example, they noticed my friend was left handed so they reoriented her plate (we were at a table, not the counter) to accommodate her on every course. I also recommend getting the beverage pairing to go with your omakase courses. The sommelier does a great job.“

“Great place with a decent price. I’m biased towards scallop so that’s always great. The Amberjack was better than most places here and their Wagyu piece as well! It completely melted off my tongue. I only dock one star because the Uni was a bit unfresh as we were getting the last few pieces from the box, so it may have been older.“

“A conveyer beltesque all you can eat sushi spot in flatiron. Was not very packed during lunch, dishes came out pretty quickly. The cute robot brought over water, place is pretty spotless.
You can order 4 items at a time on the tablet, which will be delivered on the top level of belts from the prep station behind a curtain. The sushi are good proportion though not great quality. Tried a variety of dishes like ramen, miso soup, katsu, salads and handrolls. Was stuffed at the 1hr mark, well worth the price.“

“Consistently one of the best omakase’s I’ve had in NYC. (And I’ve been to a lot!). The quality of fish, rice, and ingredients is top tier. Fish is seasonal, comes from Japan, and sourced by Chef Mark himself. You can tell chef cares about his craft—he even makes his own soy sauce. Incredible value.“

“Got the $50 set menu, really good value. The 9 piece nigiri was really good. Miso black cod and coconut shrimp hand rolls also very good but logistically challenging. Korean chicken app was great, gyoza I didnt love. Place was clean and food was fast.“

“Sushi Oku is up in my favorite omakases ever.
The egg sundae is probably one of the best bites I’ve ever had. I almost ordered a second one at the end but was too full.
The fish was classic, no frills, omakase except for a few fun dishes here and there. If you’re a sushi purist you will like it here. The ice cream sandwich at the end was also one of my favorite desserts I’ve had at omakase.
The staff was attentive and friendly, and chef was so funny!
The vibes are vintage sports memorabilia and dark interior, which made for a relaxed environment.
I don’t normally repeat omakase places but I would come back here for sure.“

“Sanyuu West is truly a gem. Every time I go, I’m reminded why it’s one of my favorite spots. The food is exceptional — everything tastes incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of authentic flavor. The ramen is rich and comforting, the sushi is beautifully crafted, and even the small plates feel like they’re made with real care.
The service is another highlight. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. They know their menu well and are always happy to make recommendations, which I appreciate.
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, perfect for a casual dinner, a date night, or even just a quiet meal alone. You can tell they put effort into the little details, and it makes the whole experience feel special.
Overall, Sanyuu West delivers consistency, quality, and great vibes every single time. If you’re looking for amazing Japanese food with top-notch service, this place is an easy 10/10. Highly recommended.“

“Really great sushi spot on Mercer. The fish was super fresh and had amazing texture. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The sushi rice was just right, perfectly seasoned, and paired really well with the fish.

“I got so lucky when I randomly stumbled upon this place while getting lunch at work. As someone who loves chicken teriyaki trust me when I say you must try theirs. I have been searching for the last few years all around the bergen county area for the best chicken teriyaki and I have found it here. This is my absolute favorite! I have tried probably 50+ restaurants and nothing can beat this. From the way they prepare chicken, to the homemade sauce they use, the perfectly cooked rice and the avocado, egg and dumplings they add on.... it is one of the greatest combinations i've ever tasted. On top of that, their sushi is always delicious and fresh. If thats not enough, they also have fantastic owners and workers there. I always get a warm greeting, and they're thankful for my patronage. Fantastic all around. I will be back soon... My favorite sushi spot!“

“Blue Ribbon Sushi is one of those New York institutions that manages to feel both timeless and deeply personal, no matter the location. Each outpost has its own character. We’ve long been regulars at the original SoHo spot, but a recent visit to the West Village location on Downing Street surprised us with how intimate and quietly charming it felt.
The evening captured a very New York kind of magic. We fell into easy conversation with the couple seated next to us, trading recommendations over the neighborhood’s best sushi and sake spots. It was a reminder of why Blue Ribbon has endured. It’s not just the fish—though it’s always excellent—it’s the atmosphere: more warm than precious, convivial without trying too hard.
Founded in 1995 on Sullivan Street by brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg alongside master sushi chef Toshi Ueki, Blue Ribbon helped shape the city’s late-night dining culture with serious fish and an equally serious sake program, all without stiffness. Thirty years on, that spirit remains. Wherever you find it, Blue Ribbon still feels like a place where New Yorkers actually live, one great meal at a time.“

“Can someone explain to me how this place isnt bleeding money???? It makes no sense. Unlimited omakase - sure. But also unlimited beverages?!! Crazy. Seems like a questionable business plan. Nonetheless - i loved it and will be back. This was a great deal for me. Sushi quality not great though“

“Truly a one-of-a-kind experience. My fiancé and I had an incredible time. The portions were generous, and the flavor profiles were outstanding. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the meats and Chef Chris’s distinctive style.
Be sure to take a photo of each plate and savor what you’re eating—you’ll definitely want another serving and might not remember every detail! My favorite that day was the sea bream, though I almost feel bad singling it out because everything was spectacular—even the miso soup.
Jay, who is part of the ownership team, was exceptionally welcoming and made everyone feel comfortable and fully immersed in the experience.“

“I had a very good experience at this sushi restaurant. The service was excellent — the woman who took care of us was incredibly kind, attentive, and very accommodating, especially since one of my friends has a specific diet. She really listened and made sure everything was adapted, which we truly appreciated.
The food was fresh and delicious. The sushi was prepared right in front of us at the counter, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Everything felt clean and well taken care of — even the restrooms were spotless.
The place itself is cozy and simple, nothing fancy, but comfortable and inviting. Prices felt fair considering the quality of the fish and the freshness, though for the overall experience, it might be slightly on the higher side. That said, it was honestly one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had.“

“I’ve been coming to Sushi Story since the day it opened, and it continues to impress every single time. The first thing that stood out to me was the service—warm, immediate, and sincere. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and made to feel welcome. The waitresses are consistently polite, attentive, and always carry a genuine smile. In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. Even with the constant flow of guests, the experience never feels rushed. The master sushi chef is actively engaged with diners, adding an extra touch of authenticity and hospitality to the meal. As for the food—exceptional. The salmon and tuna are always fresh, vibrant, and prepared perfectly. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy a great evening out with family or friends. And don’t forget: it’s BYOB, so feel free to bring your favorite bottle of wine. Sushi Story is truly a gem, and I look forward to visiting again very soon.“

“Service was truly excellent and the food was really very special. Excellent and fresh, well prepared sushi dishes. The menu is tremendous.
Free food! Yes they give you things for free. Free platter of salted edamame. I took my leftovers home, because I couldn’t finish my huge lunch portions. They wrapped everything beautifully, included free miso soup and sweets in the bag. They also gave me extra soy sauce wasabi and dishes as well as utensils.
Free probiotic drink after your meal.
I will be returning soon!
Highly recommended.“

“We found this restaurant by accident, but I can see us making regular visits any time we come to NYC. Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and a great staff. My poke bowl was incredible, and my husband got the sushi bento box. We’ll be getting the large saki during our next visit. We ate our food too quickly before it occurred to me to take a photo!“

“One of the best neighborhood sushi spots with great value for the quality of sushi. I've only done either takeout or delivery, but when I swing by I see people dining in as well. It's a relaxed restaurant that isn't stuffy and has some very fresh cuts of sushi, especially at the price point.
I think they shine best with their nigiri and they have some nice inventive, flavorful pieces like the King Salmon Yuzu Kosuho sushi and the Nama Hotate Shio Sushi. Their rolls are pretty solid too as is their spicy tuna crispy rice.“
