“I love eating at this beautiful tavern that has gorgeous hand painted murals on all the walls. Their fish and chips are the best I've had anywhere. Their oysters are amazing, hopefully they will bring back the pear puree. Once they even had garlic free oyster stew that was better than anything I've had even at the shore. The entire staff was gracious and welcoming.“

“This is my second visit to Poured Candle Bar. A few years ago, I came up to Hudson and made the most wonderfully scented candle here. This candle scent has literally been on my mind since I finished burning it.

I showed Cody the scent profile of my previous candle (yes, I had it saved in my favorites) and I got to work. Cody suggested that we remix the scent profile slightly from the candle that I made before and I agreed.

The scent profile was just as delightful as before and I’m grateful for Cody’s suggestions. I aoso opted for a larger vessel this time, so I’m able to enjoy the scent a bit longer.

“My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!“

One of the things that is most important to me when visiting the local stores in Hudson is feeling welcomed when I arrive and getting the sense that the crew cares about my experience. This is so true here! I stopped in over the weekend to chat with one of the owners, George, about juice cleanses. He was friendly, accommodating, interested in what I had to say and patient in answering all of my questions. I felt at home and at ease. So key! I was also impressed with the extensive and creative menu and excited to be able to collaborate with George and make up something new that fit my needs. I was also thrilled to see a used coat bin and a pay it forward program (I was able to buy a smoothie for someone in need in the future). I stopped by again today and met Tash, the other owner, and I am happy to report that she too is a amazing! Highly recommend this gem, very close to Warren St. I am very grateful for the experience here and will be back!“

“This is a can’t-miss spot! Subversive is easily our favorite year-round beer + dinner joint. The folks who run it are the best, and the burger in particular is excellent — not to mention that the New York Nectar IPA is my favorite beer in the region. Amazing outdoor space after a hike (or a ski run) & the heated tent and inside are perfect on a chilly night.“

“We were out and about in Hudson today and we were a little hungry so we stopped into kitties and I had probably one of the best egg sandwiches I ever had. I highly recommend the egg sandwich with sauerkraut. The vibe in there was very comfortable iced coffee Was nice and strong. They had a great bakery selection and a lot of local products. So if you’re coming out of the train station in Hudson, I say swing by kitties you won’t be sorry.“

“Upper Depot hosted an informal get together for graduates of Claverack Elementary School this past Friday. The food, drinks, and staff were all awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to hold an event at this facility in the future, or just have a beer or drink (and some food) after a long day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.“

Our waiter customized a sandwich on the menu to accommodate my spicy food preference and it was so good! It will be what i order every time i go back! Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff that can help curate your experience make this a great wine bar. Other patrons are friendly and definitely a place you could chill on your own and strike up engaging convo.“

“Went for the first time today. Great atmosphere with friendly service!! Had coffee and cinnamon roll. Was very tasty. If you are a fan of motorcycles, coffee,good food, and bench racing check them out. We really enjoyed our time there and got to meet Ian and had a great chat with him. We will be back!!“

“The staff is super friendly! They let us in early and allowed us to have a drink in their garden. The garden has a number of fountains and is tucked away from the rest of the city, giving you a very private feel. The staff was so kind they even brought a bubble machine for our toddler to play with while relaxed!“

“I had a veggie breakfast sandwich and drip coffee. The former was deliciously fatty and the latter was just okay. The shop is cute and conveniently located, and they offer free wifi. The two things I’d change are: (1) the seats, which are uncomfortable for those hoping to do work on a laptop, and (2) free water. You can ask the staff for water, and they’ll give you a small glass, but I always appreciate when there’s a water dispenser.“

“besides having a great staff and great homemade cooking, there is something charming about it. this is a very clean place unlike other places I have visited. the owners will come out and speak with the customers if they have time. there is something magical about it. it's like going back in time. the locals love it, and the out of towners always return.“

“We often go to Valley Harvest when we don't feel like cooking. Great salads and decent sandwiches - the hot dog is good too. The best thing about this place is the ice cream. Micro batches of really unique flavors. A word of caution - it does take a while for the food - lots of locals call ahead for orders or do take-out. Otherwise it's a favorite!“

Of note in particular is Maria. Maria always has a smile on her face and greets guests with a warm and inviting welcome. She isattentive, extremely hard working, and makes the BEST cocktails at the bar. She socializes with guests all while being prompt and efficient. Of note as well is Carly. Carly is kind and has always gone the extra mile to accommodate any requests I may have. Both Maria and Carly demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and greatly contribute to the success and high quality of this hotel. If I owned my own business, I would 5/5 want employees such as Maria and Carly on my team.The Wick is very clean, and has comfortable beds with up to date modern decor.
