You name it, they did it! Bryce, Chloe, and their entire team were so helpful and kind. So willing to step up to plate, and the food was DELICIOUS. Super affordable and convenient as well, and they answered any and every question they had. Our special day was made even better thanks to the wonderful work of their staff and the beautiful scenery of their venue. My guests and family were overjoyed and welcomed happily by all of them, and I’m incredibly grateful! “I recently stopped at the Restaurant at Apple Greens rest area along the Thruway in Upstate New York. Overall, it was a very efficient and convenient stop for a quick meal and break during the trip. I grabbed breakfast at Chick-fil-A, and though it was only my second time trying it, I enjoyed the spicy chicken biscuit—it was pretty good! There’s also a Panera Bread, Burger King, Auntie Anne’s, and a souvenir/convenience store, which offers plenty of options.

The decor is pretty basic, but it’s what you’d expect from a rest stop, so no complaints there. However, the place was quite cold, which made it a bit uncomfortable. The bathrooms, on the other hand, were very clean and well-maintained, which is always appreciated when traveling.

Overall, this rest stop gets the job done and has everything you need for a quick break. I’d recommend it if you're on the Thruway and need to stop for food or a bathroom break.“

“Visited Garvan’s today for the first time for a late lunch in the Pub. We started with Mexican Street Carrots. So delicious! My husband had the traditional Irish breakfast and I had the lamb stew. Both meals were excellent. Wish we could have had dessert, but we were so stuffed. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. We’re looking forward to visiting again.“

“This weekend was my first time visiting New Paltz and my girlfriend and I stopped by this place as soon as we saw pickles (I love pickled food) I bought a pineapple habanero hot sauce and a jar of their dill pickles with garlic. The hot sauce was absolutely fantastic, very spicy just as the owner warned me, but delicious and the pickles were so acidic and tart yet sweet and savory. They have lots of things like pickled jalapenos, different home made juices and mixes and a lot of sandwiches, Frank's is a must stop for anyone who likes pickled foods with good sandwiches with great sauces.“

“Okay... first of all - I ordered for take-out and my husband is lucky this food even made it home. The car smelled so good, I wanted to pull over to eat it right there. Both the chowder and stuffed clams had big, tasty pieces of clam. I got the Mac & Cheese with garlic shrimp - there were no less than 20 pieces of roasted cloves which were sweet and delicious. The shrimp was completely deveined and tender. My husband thought the stuffed clams were a little salty, I thought they were perfect, so do what you want with that. I am verily looking forward to my next visit.“

But everything else was great, the five of us had a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Too full for dessert. Next time! Easy parking, inside and outside deck seating options.“

The apps were excellent as was the espressomartini’s expertly prepared by Shannon, the bartender who went out of her way(altho she was very busy with a full bar) to make sure everything was ok for us. “I know things have to change...but seeing how the place was virtually stripped of all its character from the days of Steve's ownership just broke my old New Paltzian townie heart. I was glad to see old favorites on the menu and maybe some new ones...it wasn't really the same though. I was sad not to see the wooden booths where one *thought* private conversations could be had and the old wooden bar that had so many great moments of community shared. And the local art work too...gone. Not sure if I will return...I'll have to hold onto my memories, though perhaps I will convince my home grrrllzz to go and make new ones with me when I come to town. I am grateful that the name hasn't changed-it was hard enough when it changed from The Gay Nineties Bistro to just *The Bistro*. I am also glad there are menu items on there I know and love. I wish the owners good luck and longevity. It's really an institution and I'd hate to see it fall to ruin like so many of my cherished places of the past.“
