“The Jerk chicken was great and so was the Jerk Shrimp which had a great taste as well. My first time being here was great and even ordering on delivery apps as well was a great option as they even left there number for customer service on Uber East which is the only restaurant I see doing this. Overall food was great and I would recommend anyone to give this a try. Support black businesses more often people and be careful with what you rate the restaurants to as they are MUCH better then what the rating provides.“

“My wife and I generally eat for five people, we ordered 4 small plates and 2 mains, still looking into dessert. Each dish had its own layer of perfection with unique flavors and exquisite presentation. I’d say a restaurant on its way to becoming Michelin…..bravo! Oh and the ole school hip hop added to the vibe. Enjoyed this dinner date immensely!👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😎😎😎“

“Very impressed since they was decorating the place. I was passing by every day till they finally open and I desire to try the food, I was curious and also I’m not a vegan person. When I finally try that food I just got in shock. Super tasty, delicious, the Trinidad and Dominican Republic flavors- was so down the earth. So thankful to have them at the neighborhood, the service is excellent and Yesenia and her employees super professionals. The ambiance and decoration soo relaxing- I love the food and the service, how they welcome you, is hard to find a place like that. Highly recommended to everyone- vegan or not vegan- 🥗 the talent is there and I wish them success- nice location, sparkling clean - if you are looking for good food - this is your spot-“

“I absolutely love this place! It was fantastic 20 years ago, and I'm happy to say it's just as amazing today.
Ranea was a wonderful server. She made sure my hibiscus mojito was perfectly balanced, tangy, yet sweet. Hours later, I'm still thinking about that drink!
For appetizers, I had the codfish fritters with guacamole on the side. They were hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. For dinner, we shared the sampler platter, and everything came out hot and full of flavor. The jerk chicken was smoked to perfection, and the oxtail was so tender it literally fell off the bone.
Negril Village, right in the heart of the West Village, is a must-visit. Whether you're grabbing a bite before a comedy show, stopping in afterward, or simply looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the vibe, this spot never disappoints.“

“The food is always good. There was so many workers, ( someone opening the door/security, and then there was a worker on the main floor restocking/replenishing).. so many people, I guess everything was moving smooth. But to me, It was just feel a little chaotic, as to where to stand to wait for your order. There was deliveries, people using the kiosk, people in the shop ordering bake and shark having to pay for it first and then going and waiting for it. FOOD WAS GREAT!“

“Very nice restaurant in a brownstone bldg with large windows, a full bar, beautiful Afrocentric art and a spiral staircase to the second floor.
The food was pricey but amazingly delicious 🤤. We had a truffle burger (8 out of 10), braised oxtails (8 out of 10), rice and beans (7 out of 10), Ras & pasta (8 out of 10) , mussels appetizer (10 out of 10) and Caesar salad (9 out of 10).
The wait staff were friendly and courteous but I thought could've been a bit more attentive as we had to actively search for our water glasses to be refilled and also seek out someone after no one came to take the drink order.
Other than that there was live music that was really nice (although a bit too loud).
I'd definitely recommend visiting this place for lunch/dinner.“

“Dey have rell ting fuh so an d place does always be busy, wid d occasional bacchanal behind d counter an in d kitchen, so yuh kno yuh gettin ah gud food.
Triniciti pholourie bowl have d biggest pholourie I ever see in my life (d ting properly sauced down too), issa must. Plain doubles ong is d best. Saltfish pie euphoric but is d fresh bake n shark daiz justice. Meat in d curry goat roti was a lil on d tough side, but other than that, fantastic (excellent dhalpuri, curry sauce, pumpkin, aloo, chana, bodi)!
If you've never visited and plan to stop by as a walk in customer, join the line/queue to place your order at the hot food counter (a staff member will greet you). There are several menus posted on the walls (some are on pieces of paper, then there's a huge menu above the area where the staff prepares/boxes up the orders).
After you place your order with a staff member they'll prepare/box it and send it over to the cashier. All you have to do is stay in line and wait until you get to the register to pay for your order.
While you're waiting in line, there's bread (hops, coconut bake, sada roti, etc), pastries, desserts (cassava pone, etc), and snacks (tunnock's milk chocolate caramel wafers, big foot, cheezees, tamarind ball, etc) that you can take to the register to add to your order.
There's also currant rolls, pepper sauce, red mango, plum, cherries, coconut drop, (i think i saw toolum?), etc, BEHIND the counter too! So if you see those items and you want to add them to your order, just let the cashier know when you get to the register.
There's cold beverage fridges behind the cashiering counter, so you can get a cold drink (homemade sorrel, mauby, peardrax, ginger beer, seamoss punch, peanut punch, etc).
If you're in line, please don't skip anyone, you might (will most definitely) get cuss by other customers, on top of which you will be politely asked to leave by staff (there's a rule about it, posted quite visibly on the walls).
If you don't want to stand in line or the ordering experience is a little overwhelming during your first visit because it's busy, you can place and pay for your order at one of the kiosks (there's 2 of them to the front of the restaurant). Then you can wait, either seated or standing, to collect it at the kiosk/pick up area which is right next to the kiosks (they'll call your name).“

“Note/General Review- Pardon most of the photos as they are either overexposed or very red. Dishes in general are well-flavored, though less spicy than you'd expect
I was at this small Jamaican restaurant and rum bar with a smaller group than usual a while ago. The service was friendly enough, and the music was audible, but not too loud, though this was also probably because there weren't that many people there. Along with another person, we each had a cocktail while waiting, with them ordering one of their rum punches, while I went with the Island Time, I believe. The drink for $16 contained rum, which was presumably Wrey & Nephew, along with lime, and coconut water, and judging by the cocktail menu, this was likely the drink I got, as I tend to avoid cocktails with a lot of fruit juices. Whatever it was, it was balanced nicely as I could taste the rum, but there wasn't too big a kick.
We got two appetizers. The first to arrive was the that stupid place called'Stamp and Go' Plantain & Saltfish Fritters for $17 served with a scotch bonnet garlic aioli dipping sauce. There were plenty of fritters, and they were crispy on the outside with a soft middle. The aioli had a slight kick to it, although not as much as I expected for being made with scotch bonnets. While I liked the texture, I do wish there was more flavor from the saltfish, though I am more used to that being present during company parties, served with the more traditional ackee.
The other was the very tasty $19 Jerk Goat Ribs, served with a jerk BBQ sauce. The ribs had a great texture with the meat tender, but not completely falling off the bone. There was also a lovely extra crisp on the outside, reminding me a bit of bark from BBQ. The sauce had a mild sweetness with a little kick, and the side pickles added some extra spice and texture. It was also very tasty.
All of our main dishes were good as well. My favorite was probably the Sorrel Glazed Lamb Chops for $37, served with a side of our choice. The hibiscus flavor was there, but it wasn't too sweet or sour. Just like with the ribs, the meat, which consisted of four chops, was perfectly cooked. Our side choice was the festival, a fried dough that was new to our host, though not to me. It had a mild sweetness as expected, and for those who haven't had it before, you can compare it to a sweeter youtiao. There was also a pleasant side salad, which was served with the other main dishes.
Also very good were the $18 Jerk Mushrooms, with sauteed portabello mushrooms served with rice and peas. The jerk flavor was what you'd expect, though with less of a kick, which was similar to the other dishes, with the mushrooms being cooked down properly while retaining some texture. The rice and peas had a nice texture with a bit of sweetness.
There was also the Coconut Curry Oxtail & Spinnas for $36, consisting of braised oxtail cooked down in a coconut curry sauce with spinnas (small boiled dumplings), rice & peas. The oxtail was tender and fell off the bone, and the curry had a mild sweetness. The spinnas reminded me of mini gnocchi in terms of texture with some plumpness. This was again tasty.
This might be a pricier Jamaican place, but I can't complain much at all, outside of maybe the food lacking a bit of heat. The price and lack of heat reflect the neighborhood, though, and I guess I could always ask for their hot sauce or similar. I would go back and try more things.“

“The food was good, but they really need to do better about customer service. We had a party of Nine that wanted to dine-in. We were given no help only told us to put the table back after we moved them together ourselves to seat us. Luckily we dine in because we was missing a full order of Rasta pasta. My mom order okra and fish. We were missing the okra so they refunded me a dollar. As we were leaving the young lady approached me saying they gave her pumpkin that she didn’t order or want and asked for the dollar back. I was very surprised about that. As I said customer service was not up to standard.“

“I found this restaurant on the IN KIND app, and the menu looked great. I don’t live far, so I was a little skeptical since I had not heard of it, I used to own a restaurant in the neighborhood, and I eat out several times a week in Manhattan and Brooklyn at the same places that I love, and I also love cooking amazing food for family and friends.
Let’s say, I was pleasantly surprised, and actually blown away! My family is Jamaican, so fusion isn’t always my thing, but this restaurant did the most amazing job with all of the food! The proteins honored the culture, and the fusion elements actually mirrored my favorite Chinese Jamaican spot in Ocho Rios, so all of it honored its roots! ON TOP OF THAT, the vegetables were fresh and flavorful—not overcooked! Excellent. And the jasmine rice was the best rice that I have had anywhere in NYC. PERIOD. A chef that cares about the RICE is definitely putting his foot in the rest of the meal! I had to call back to get the name of Chef Bunny - I needed to know who COOKED that food! And Amanda was extremely helpful with taking our order and fixing a little boo boo in our pickup order. She had the incorrect item Lyft couriered to us - I appreciate the extra effort and expense, as I know restaurants have a tight profit margin. I will definitely be back to dine in - can’t wait.
Our group got the oxtail, jerk chicken, pineapple and basil fried rice, and the ORANGE chicken - I tasted and ate all - each one better than the next. And we topped it off with the bread pudding (and added Haagen Das and whipped cream at home).“

“My opinion is 8.7/10. Is it the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had? No but overall our place that makes handmade Jamaican beef patties with a good overall flavor I recommend it. “The person serving food was very helpful and providing information about the various products and patties, all homemade. I bought the lunch special for someone else which was a bargain at less than $6, after tax. The salmon and callaloo patties were hearty and tasted great but the dough was tough. this was only 2 PM iso it should not have been this hard to bite into.“

“Feels like a home cooked meal surrounded by friends and family.
The produce is fresh and meats are delightfully tender and flavorful. Love in every bite and always a new culinary experience meal to meal.
The cocktails are perfectly balanced and the poured drinks are a thoughtful pairing to any dish.
The menu is literally curated from top down and if you find yourself in a spicy moment start in the middle of the drink menu and work your up or down depending on how feisty you’re feeling.
10/10, would dine again… and you should too :)“

“So, my buddy asked if I had been to this hot new restaurant called Markette. My friends and I had tried to get reservations a few weeks ago, on a Saturday night, but it was booked solid. After having the pleasure of eating there, I understand why.
For starters, the space is beautiful. It reminded me of that Starbucks in Paris that's in a former bank building, with its high ceilings, ornate chandeliers , gorgeous hand painted murals and a sexy up lit bar.
We ordered the codfish fritters (they were ok, too much potato and not enough fish, but the sauce they were served with was very tasty) Braised Oxtail Gratin (delicious!!) Lamb and Roti ( the lamb was cooked to perfection and the sauce it was nestled in was good enough to eat alone, but it arrived to our table cold) For dessert, we shared the Soursop Trifle, which we were super excited about trying 'cause it's rare to find the delicious soursop on a menu. Unfortunately, it was rare locating it in the trifle too. The overwhelming flavor was the pineapple, which was cleverly made red by soaking it, in hibiscus juice. It was tasty, for sure, but too overpowering for the delicate soursop.
I'd rate the food a solid 8 and am looking forward to trying more of it. You should go.“

“I saw that one review from the person saying their oxtail was bad, but saw a plethora of positive reviews standing against it. I decided to give them a go and do NOT regret it! Lovely little spot for a late night meal! The cashier was very pleasant with a great attitude. I came by after finding my Airbnb and ordered 3 empanadas: Jerk Chicken, Salmon, & Oxtail. This is not a standard menu option, but she told me I could mix and match :)
I loved it!!! WONDERFULLY tasty food and a perfect crisp to the empanadas - not too hard and not too soft/mushy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
