“YUM! Great service, from the minute we walked in! The friendly hostess recognized us from a previous visit, the wait staff were on point, the chef came over to our table with complimentary soup, the music was upbeat and our food was delicious! Great vibes, highly recommend!“

“My opinion is 8.7/10. Is it the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had? No but overall our place that makes handmade Jamaican beef patties with a good overall flavor I recommend it. Best thing definitely has to be the crust I just wish for $3 it was a little bit more meat / seasoning. Check out my in depth video reviews on any of the platforms below. “Absolutely one of the best jerk chicken lunch I’ve ever had in years. My mother ate their Oxtail stew dish and it was delicious too. Full flavoured food with excellent quality & portion. Friendly helpful staff are also welcoming. I bought the fried whiting fish fillets and some fried chicken wings to take home. Will definitely be back again to eat all the other dishes! Yummy ? proper jerk chicken with rice & beans that were moist not dry like other places we’ve tried in Manhattan.
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to access street level entrance that will accommodate wheelchairs and rollators. No steps inside the restaurant.“

“I grew up eating Jamaican food and this is hands down the best Jamaican restaurant that I’ve been to in Brooklyn! The food is consistently delicious and made to order — no food sitting out on a heater waiting for someone to order. I’ve had the jerk shrimp, curry shrimp roti, jerk salmon, and other items and the food is always fresh, tasty, and plentiful. They sell juices and cake which are also amazing. I’ve been going here once a week since the pandemic started and I’m always so excited to get my food. The owner is amazing and is dedicated to always providing five star service and food.“

“We had the curried chicken and jerk chicken, both with rice, and a bottle of ginger beer. Found a place to sit (can be tricky in a place like this) and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The chicken was super moist and the rice was super tasty. Really great food. Service was fine, music tad loud but nice fit to the food & atmosphere. Place really reminded me of my trip to Jamaica - best Jamaican food I've had in years, to be honest.
Dietary restrictions: Info about gluten free options, and several dishes are GF.“

“I was in the area and I did a search for Caribbean food. I clicked on this place and saw that they had a 4.6/5. I clicked on the review section and the first one that I read said that’s it’s the best she’s ever had in NY, then went on to specify that the Oxtail specifically is what she was raving about. Turns out that’s exactly what I was in the mood for. I went there around 1:30pm on a Wednesday, it wasn’t crowded at all. Nothing fancy inside or out but it’s a tad about a hole in the wall. I ordered the Oxtail with white rice and I ordered their in-house fruit punch. It was already bottled and sealed. A nice older lady served me and she was very polite. The other two men that worked alongside her seemed very nice as well. The Oxtail was really good but it’s not the best that I had in NY. However I do feel comfortable recommending it to people. Parking is a pain, because there is some sort of collision repair nearby, and they have all their cars taking up the parking spots“

“I’ve been here twice and gotten the oxtails with, plantains and rice and beans. The flavor is out of this world and the oxtail is incredibly tender. They were also generous with their portion sizes. I really enjoyed the meal so much! They offer a lunch special, medium and large size for dishes.“

“I ordered for the 1st time this evening and I really enjoyed it . I got the jerk pork which was seasoned very well, rice & peas was great , came with a side salad & plantains. I like how they accommodated me when the drink I ordered ran out (Cherry Lemonade) , however I enjoyed their JamRock Passion Fruit Lemonade though. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again real soon“

“Been coming to Melting Pot for years. The food is always solid and consistent. I haven’t tried anything from here that I don’t like. Jerk chicken and oxtail is always fresh and flavorful. They make a fresh pineapple ginger juice that’s amazing. Everyone I’ve brought here always enjoy the food.“

“I usually get jerk chicken there and patties. These are the ones I like to buy there. The other food are good too but, I have my preferences. Just jerk chicken, not the meal . Long time ago, I used to buy fish there but,it became too hot/ spicy for me to digest.“

“Ran 13.1 miles from LIC to this place. It’s 3.5 miles away so I had to take some detours to get in my long run (took queens bridge, 59th street cross town to west side, Hudson River park down to canal, then cross town two Williamsburg bridge). About 8 miles in, I wanted to stop and get refreshments, but the thought of trying the food at this place kept me going.
Wow was it worth it. I ordered the large combo platter with stewed oxtail and curry goat. AMAZING flavors and great texture. The oxtail was very tender. The sauces were both excellent on rice. Even the veggies were seasoned perfectly. Got another oxtail platter to go. Was disappointed that the jerk chicken were temporarily sold out when I tried to order for to go. Told the amazing ladies behind the counter that I had waned to have my toddler try the jerk chicken. One went to the back and came back with 2 small pieces of jerk chicken even though the rest were still cooking - that’s great service!
I wasn’t able to finish my large combo plate. On top I had 2 more dishes I ordered for to go. The lady knew how to combine and pack the bags for me. Everything stayed intact through my subway trip back to LIC.
Will be a regular at this place.“

“A nice little spot in Harlem for delicious Jamaican style patties. They taste even better between 2 pillow soft slices of Cocoa bread. Prices are fair and the ladies that work here are pleasant. Go have yourself a quick and delicious lunch and/or snack without breaking the bank!!!!!“

“I recently visited Country Kitchen, and it was just okay. The food was decent, but nothing really stood out as amazing. The service was fine, but the overall experience didn’t leave a strong impression. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for something casual, but I think there are other spots in the area that offer a bit more in terms of flavor and atmosphere.“

“I was in the area. I googled this place and I wanted to give it a try. I was very impressed with the rice and peas and shrimp which had some heat to it. “I’ve always passed this restaurant on my way to Carvel which is located next door and decided to stop in because I had a taste for oxtails. The server was very pleasant which made me felt good about the restaurant and food. I must say I haven’t had a oxtail dinner like that in a long time, from the rice to the veggies and the plantains which had a wonderful kick not like a regular sweet plantain it had a nice little Spivey spice to it. I look forward to going back to try a few more of their dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant and you can also dine in the serene clean atmosphere. That’s why I’ve given it 4stars. Try it for yourself“

“Food was delicious. I had fried chicken and rice and peas. There was a long line, but it moved pretty quickly cashier / server could have been a little more polite. Nice music played. Plenty of food to make choices from fish, shrimp jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail and soups. Different styles of rice. My hat goes off to the chef.“

“I can't help but eat anywhere that has a smoking grill out front - the chicken here comes to you right off the coals, and the sauce options are prodigious. I got mine drenched in tamarind sauce, and it was some of the juicest and tastiest chicken I've had in a while~“

“I Ordered the Large Oxtails and J*** BBQ Chicken . Both dishes were good and definitely worth the detour we took to get there. Oxails wasn't tough, it was almostmeltingin my mouth. The server was very nice and was ok with answering my questions. So service 5, taste food 5 but the decor of the store is definitely a 2. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong. it's a good store and I would definitely eat here a million more times.“

“Food was good! Very flavorful and such large portions for the price. Wow. My first time trying and I’m so happy I did. The coconut crab was so juicy! The only thing is the Mac and cheese was very dry (but it didn’t deter me from liking everything as a whole just some feedback). I believe it’s important to not only highlight establishments when they do bad but also praise when they’re positive. Was good!“

“I’m very new to Caribbean food so take my 5 stars with a grain of salt but it was incredibly delicious J*** Chicken with plenty of seasonings and very tender, rice and peas which were very good, and mac and cheese. There were really generous portions and the staff was very kind.“

“For Thanksgiving dinner we ordered a large pan of j*** salmon and a pan of Rasta pasta. The pasta was amazing and the salmon was even better! They don’t serve you small pieces of salmon... they were meaty! And made for great leftovers. When I visit New York again, Island Choiz will definitely be a go to.“

“This is a great place to eat. Vendors are friendly and food is really good. The j*** chicken was my favorite (really hot, yes!) and the rice is soft, well cooked. They also have a variety of salad mix. The potato salad was really good. I'm not a fish eater but even the seafood smell good. Price is reasonable, I think it's 9$ a pound but less money if the weight is less. It's definitely worth it.
Vegetarian options: They have a variety of mixes for salad.“

“Walk in and get the authentic feel of a home cooked Jamaican meal. Wish I ordered a variety of different dishes because my kids mouth was on fire but he loved it. Pair your j*** chicken dish with the sorrel drink - tastes like a tropical ginger beer. Cabbage was cooked soft and not soggy. Get your j*** chicken fix at the country life. Worth a visit.“

“Went for brunch on Sunday and so glad I made a reservation; place was jamming and some were waiting when we arrived, but not for long. They were turning tables quickly and there is also a bar to sit out. Tight seating all around and there is outside seating as well for nicer days. Service was attentive, quick, and nice. Our food came out surprisingly fast for a full restaurant and was hot and very tasty. This is a great neighborhood spot and glad we tried it. Will be back.“
