“This restaurant is Schenectady’s Best kept secret. I’ve been there several times for lunch and it never disappoints. The service is spot on from when you walk in the door, no pun intended but I’m in a wheelchair(handicap accessible) to when you are leaving, opening doors and exchanging goodbye pleasantries. The place itself is immaculate, shiny floors, beautiful atmosphere, great background music and above all delicious food you know is prepared to order. While being there for lunch, I ordered off the dinner menu with no problem, as the staff is extremely accommodating. The menu includes a wide variety of options to satisfy every palate.
Next time you’re looking for a great, quiet and delicious place for lunch or dinner, give Chez Nous a try you will not be disappointed. They have private spacious rooms for small private events and I will reiterate the place is spotless and extremely comfortable with GREAT FOOD!

It was evident that her section was extremely busy, and we were politely notified that the kitchen was short-staffed that Friday evening. But we never would have guessed as the service was outstanding and the food arrived within a reasonable time. Thank you to our beautiful server whose name I regrettably cannot recall (dark hair, crow tattoo, drop-dead gorgeous) and to the kitchen for making our night exceptionally enjoyable.”

“I only moved to the area about six months ago and i've been looking for a place to make my regular spot. My family has owned a few pizzerias throughout my life and worked in several so im picky to say the least on what i consider good pizza. I ordered a plain cheese and a pepperoni and an order of fries for the little kids. Everything came in under an hour it was all piping hot and the fries were still crispy! The pizza was delicious and even with a couple family members fighting off the stomach flu they couldn't help themselves but to have some. Needless to say I will definitely be getting my pizza here from now on along with the three other adults in my house and my upstairs neighbors. My grandmother is already planning on telling her sister whose lived in the area for years and has been going somewhere else.”

Rice noodles are my favorite, and cheese wontons are a must. The wait can be a bit long during peak dinner hours, but I understand. They put their heart into their work. “This is my 3rd time getting take out and I love it. It’s not the typical super salty Chinese American food. It’s well flavored, not oily, and good portion for fresh veggies/meat. Emphasis on this - it is not salty or overloaded with seasoning.

After losing the Italian deli in Saratoga that I've patronized for many years to a buyer from Albany that doesn't even answer the phone, I began a search for a true Italian deli. When I walked into La Gioia I knew I had found what I was looking for. The aroma of Italy in the air, the hustle bustle of a staff serving with professional knowledge, courtesy, and a neat and clean appearance so rare today, and shelves and cases filled with all the Mediterranean delicacies imaginable, made me realize the true gem I discovered. This was a wonderful epiphany for me; I smiled all the way home 30 miles away.”

“Wow! What a busy night! These should be nothing but compliments for the staff, in the front of the house, and behind the scenes. It seems the autumn light show down the road has had quite an impact. We went on a whim, disregarded the suggested reservations, but were able take seats right away at the end of the bar. Best of both worlds....A little bit of patio atmosphere and dining room comfort as the temperatures began to drop. And a glimpse at the extra hard work involved this evening. Praises to Jennifer as she greeted us, offered us something to drink, and advised us if we were ordering there would be an extended wait, (a large number of parties, and parties with a large number of people, seem to have arrived all at once). She said she would rather be up front with people than to have them disappointed with a wait. The expected delay was explained to every party that entered following us It was amazing to watch the coordinated efforts of the three waitresses working as a team. There was no time for idle chit chat while disregarding the needs of customers, but there was still time for smiles and laughter. Work behind the counter was fast, deliberate, efficient and the customers had no sense of stress or overwhelm. Each interaction I overheard was friendly and attentive. Another thing that I was impressed with, especially sitting at a bar, is that with an extended wait, those who were drinking, alcoholic beverages , were not pushed or encouraged to purchase more than usual to fill the time. Therefore the environment around us remained the same. Our meals came in the time projected, (mine a crock of french onion soup and my husband, a Roadhouse burger with onion rings.) Each item as tasty as we have come to expect. I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone for an enjoyable evening.”

“Addendum: dined at the bar solo tonight and it was just as good. The service was quick and efficient. I repeated choices from the prior visit specifically the Caesar salad and the crabcake appetizer. Both were great, although the crabcakes were clearly overly salted, although it may have been the romulade. The check was presented quickly and overall and a great solo meal.

Our first time here. Early dinner seated promptly. A booth in back could not hear the casino noise. Taken care of by Terrance who did a great job. Checked in often requests handled promptly.

Entrees are in the mid 30’s and up. Salads in the high teens and sides in the teens as well.

A cosmopolitan was delivered made as requested. The warm rolls were superb and addictive! “Everything bagel” butter was perfect on the bread.

We had two salads two apps and a side. The chopped salad has great with kale and romaine as well as yellow beets apples and a maple vinaigrette. Wonderful cold and crisp. The wedge contained the usual plus onions. Rather than one large iceberg wedge there were multiple pieces of lettuce.

For dinner we had a shrimp cocktail…4 large shrimp (10-12 size I’d guess) with a cocktail sauce that could have been spicier. The shrimp were carefully de-shelled. The crab cake appetizer was perfect. Two large crab cakes served
On remoulade sauce. All crab, no filler. A slight bit oilier than I’d like but superb. We also share a ($12!) baked potato served with bacon butter and sour cream on the side. One small complaint-we were charged for shredded cheese, not requested nor were we told about the charge. Potato was great.

We passed on dessert. Note to Duke’s management-improve the dessert menu. Describe the items don’t just list them. Tell us something about the cheesecake or explain “hot chocolate cake”. The menu is boring and not enticing.

Overall wonderful and relaxing, albeit expensive! We will be back!”

“It was quick seating, quick access to a large assortment of hot and cold food choices. It looked good and tasted great. Should have been here when I was 18 years old and was a bottomless pit. Still, I feel I got my money's worth. Not a fancy place and the bathroom needs more attention to cleanliness and repair. For service they ask you what you want to drink and then clear your empty plates as you go thru the meal choices and then bring you the check. Me and the boy shall return to try more options.”
