“The food was very good. There was something new on the menu that my cousin really liked called Nutella waffles with strawberries—they were delicious. I took off one star because the cups and utensils were not very clean. There was something in the water, so we did not drink any of it. “The first time I ordered, I chose the chicken fried rice and was amazed because it tasted like the Guyanese-Chinese food I used to eat 20 years ago from Liberty Ave. The second time I visited was on May 9, 2026 and decided to try the roast duck, chicken liver and gizzard and Rice Bowl house special fried rice; I was blown away! Excellent and tasty food in my opinion! Their house special fried is better than New Thriving’s and Kaieteur’s! Give them a try!“

“Lingo was the perfect choice for a special celebration. I brought my daughter here and the night was great. It’s a beautiful space, genuinely warm and personable staff, and excellent Japanese-inflected food with a creative twist.

We did have one miss: the ribs were too fatty for our taste. But here's where Lingo service stepped in. Without any fuss, they took the dish off the bill and were so gracious about it. That kind of hospitality is rare and says a lot about how they run their restaurant.

“This little gem is so New York, and I had the best time here last Saturday night. It’s a tiny space run by a lovely husband-and-wife team that makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. The set menu was outstanding, with so many great flavor combinations, many of them inspired by traditional Nepali dishes. They also offer a thoughtfully chosen wine pairing that complemented the food really well. Service was excellent throughout, and I especially enjoyed hearing the stories behind each dish and the inspiration that went into creating them. Overall, just an outstanding dinner and a place I can’t wait to return to.“

“This is what we call “fine dining.” We did not reserve the main dining room, as one of our party did not care for prix fixe. We opted for the lounge as you can have from the menu or prix fixe. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a pleasant hat/coat check lady. We arrived early and said we would wait for the other couple and were invited to wait in the intimate cocktail area. The cocktails were superb and served with a house-made cocktail snack. When the guests of the party arrived, we were escorted to the lounge area. An intimate area with about six to eight tables. After being seated and greeted by the head server (maître d' or captain), who explained our options, we all opted for the menu. After looking at all the choices, we decided to split two appetizers. Even though the number of items on each choice was uneven, the server said, “Let me take care of it". And then beautifully presented plates arrived with equal portions. And it only got better from there. The entrées were each explained in detail, including their origins and how they were prepared. I could go on and on. The fish, beef, duck breast, and pork were everything we expected and more. We all commented, maybe the best we have had. The house made desserts were perfect. I had possibly the best cheese plate I have ever had. The entire staff of servers were professionals and enhanced the evening. The most disappointing part of the evening was when a guest entering the dining room (after removing his overcoat) came in dressed in Dockers and a short-sleeve polo. This is an insult to the owner, the chef, and the entire staff at this fine restaurant. But maybe he was an elite or a “special” person. We all said we would be back.“

“We had a great experience at Che Ma Tante. Jackson, our server, provided excellent service, and the food was very good. We were especially excited to try the pancakes, and while they were delicious, I don’t think they are the best pancakes in the city.“

We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! Firstly, shout out to Armando, who made us feel immediately welcomed with his warmth and energy! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“

The wait was not long to get a table and the service was prompt, professional, courteous, and didn’t leave us in want of anything. All of our needs were met. “We had breakfast there the morning of 5/30/26 (we were attending a wedding). There was an older gentleman with an Irish accent who was very sweet & funny. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac's disease, so the staff made sure I was able to get something without getting sick. He said the chef wasn't sure about the mozzarella for my dish, but me & our server were quite sure it was safe. I was just happy to find something that was vegetarian & gluten free! He even came over & took my pulse LOL! Excellent food & staff!“

“My friends and I had a lovely afternoon at The Rockaway Hotel Pool house. We were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess, Isabella, who made us feel so welcomed. Our beautiful table was in the perfect spot to take in all of what the Rockaway Hotel has to offer. The outside bar and Pool house are exquisite. The pool was bustling with excitement. “157 Tavern has been a staple in the area for 10 years and is an excellent choice for parties or group gatherings. You can simply provide them with your budget, and they will curate the menu for you, which makes the planning process very convenient.

Regarding the food:

Grilled Spanish Octopus: Highly recommended. The potato pave is delicious, and the octopus is tender with a perfect charred exterior.

Short Rib with Bone Marrow: The meat is very tender and falls apart at the touch of a fork, though I wish the portion of bone marrow was a bit larger.

King Salmon: Quite tender.

Burrata Cheese: Standard/average.

Caramel Flan: Delicious and beautifully presented.

Overall, it is a great spot for a nice dinner.“
