“The first time I ordered, I chose the chicken fried rice and was amazed because it tasted like the Guyanese-Chinese food I used to eat 20 years ago from Liberty Ave. The second time I visited was on May 9, 2026 and decided to try the roast duck, chicken liver and gizzard and Rice Bowl house special fried rice; I was blown away! Excellent and tasty food in my opinion! Their house special fried is better than New Thriving’s and Kaieteur’s! Give them a try!“

“Lingo was the perfect choice for a special celebration. I brought my daughter here and the night was great. It’s a beautiful space, genuinely warm and personable staff, and excellent Japanese-inflected food with a creative twist.

We did have one miss: the ribs were too fatty for our taste. But here's where Lingo service stepped in. Without any fuss, they took the dish off the bill and were so gracious about it. That kind of hospitality is rare and says a lot about how they run their restaurant.

“This is what we call “fine dining.” We did not reserve the main dining room, as one of our party did not care for prix fixe. We opted for the lounge as you can have from the menu or prix fixe. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a pleasant hat/coat check lady. We arrived early and said we would wait for the other couple and were invited to wait in the intimate cocktail area. The cocktails were superb and served with a house-made cocktail snack. When the guests of the party arrived, we were escorted to the lounge area. An intimate area with about six to eight tables. After being seated and greeted by the head server (maître d' or captain), who explained our options, we all opted for the menu. After looking at all the choices, we decided to split two appetizers. Even though the number of items on each choice was uneven, the server said, “Let me take care of it". And then beautifully presented plates arrived with equal portions. And it only got better from there. The entrées were each explained in detail, including their origins and how they were prepared. I could go on and on. The fish, beef, duck breast, and pork were everything we expected and more. We all commented, maybe the best we have had. The house made desserts were perfect. I had possibly the best cheese plate I have ever had. The entire staff of servers were professionals and enhanced the evening. The most disappointing part of the evening was when a guest entering the dining room (after removing his overcoat) came in dressed in Dockers and a short-sleeve polo. This is an insult to the owner, the chef, and the entire staff at this fine restaurant. But maybe he was an elite or a “special” person. We all said we would be back.“

“Super unique and delicious maple praline brown butter pancakes! More cake than pancake. The wait was not long to get a table and the service was prompt, professional, courteous, and didn’t leave us in want of anything. All of our needs were met. Food was prepared much quicker than expected and was all very good! I would definitely recommend this!“

“Garden was lovely on a Saturday night. We all had the tasting menu and there was NOT ONE MISS on any of the dishes. 9 courses, two desserts to share and a little extra amuse of delicious gazpacho to start. We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! Firstly, shout out to Armando, who made us feel immediately welcomed with his warmth and energy! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“

“Solid breakfast burritos and great tortillas, which are like gold here. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu yet, but it’s just a matter of time - the salads look awesome. I moved here from Texas a year ago and love everything about the city (except for the rent), but I do miss Tex Mex and good tortillas. New Mexican is its own cuisine and sure hits the spot while also being healthier, and those tortillas are a game changer. So glad to have found this place, just had breakfast from here, and am already looking forward to going back.“

“this would be a great restaurant outside of nyc but after eating here makes sense why it was almost empty at 7:30 on a friday night. first, for some reason the AC was off on a summer night, it was so hot! at one point our server kind of went AWOL for like ten minutes after we said we needed a second to decide but i guess it happens and we were able to get someone else’s attention. A few notes on the food: the fluke crudo has a great sauce but you must slice the fish, you cannot just serve a raw filet of fish. the sauce doesn’t get to it and it is hard to slice raw fish while eating. cut the fish! the chicken entree was good but it was overcooked which shouldn’t be an issue with heavily breaded chicken. the poached hake was not cooked enough. the sticky rice dessert was really just rice pudding but was outstanding and the drink selection was very good.“

Regarding the food:

Grilled Spanish Octopus: Highly recommended. The potato pave is delicious, and the octopus is tender with a perfect charred exterior.

Short Rib with Bone Marrow: The meat is very tender and falls apart at the touch of a fork, though I wish the portion of bone marrow was a bit larger.

King Salmon: Quite tender.

Burrata Cheese: Standard/average.

Caramel Flan: Delicious and beautifully presented.

Overall, it is a great spot for a nice dinner.“

“I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. It’s the best burger I have ever had. They have awesome live music every weekend on their brand new stage. Their lineup of musicians is the best around.
