“Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. A gem of a flavour surprise on Pape just south of Cosburn, I highly recommend Shawarma Frenzy if you have yet to try them. If you have tried them then time to order again! The food is fresh, generous, so delicious and made with skill and love. Clean and cozy, the dining area is unpretentious, yet comfortable and spotless. This is the kind of resto whose food you want to eat every week (and more!) and feel good about. The vibe behind the counter is grounded, happy, the kind of energy you want cooking and serving your food. Vegetarian or meat eater you will feel satisfied. Nutritious and delicious I give Shawarma Frenzy 10 gold stars!“
“This spot is my favorite. I go to many restaurants but to this restaurant I constantly return again and again. The crew is very helpful and the cooking they offer is so flavorful. I would always prefer to have a good dinner here. Highly recommended.“
“I love this supermarket. Not only do they have all the products every Persian household needs, and even more. They also serve dishes, which are very well known and loved by Persians and people who are fans of Persian food. You can get the best and tastiest food in Toronto from this restaurant. Yesterday on Easter, we had a hundred guests and they gave us excellent chicken pilaf with barberry for a hundred and fifty people. The food was always full of saffron and barberry of high quality. God bless you. give to their work and life“
“Initially, I was going to review this place much lower but I got the sense that they were genuinely kind and great people. I live quite far away and dont get to travel downtown often. But when I do, I always look forward to the food and I was craving a chicken shawarma poutine. This came up as a well reviewed place for chicken shawarma poutine and so I went to try it and as soon as I got in through the door I was greeted with a cheerful and charismatic Hi. I specifically asked if they had chicken shawarma poutine and she nodded then proceeded to punch in my order. When I got it, I noticed that there wasn't any cheese or gravy on the poutine and asked “there is no gravy on the poutine?” And the guy answered back that this dish had enough flavour. I was actually quite disappointed since I was really looking forward to an actual chicken shawarma poutine with gravy and cheese so it honestly had a pretty big impact on my day. But the food was delicious and afterwards one of the workers offered me a free Falafel and said that it was most delicious when eaten fresh and it definitely was. That small gesture really turned the experience around. The food was still good and not too salty, but if youre looking for a shawarma poutine then this is not the place for it. The meal that I got should have been appropriately called Chicken shawarma fries or chicken shawarma on fries“
“You may have seen this restaurant featured in BlogTo when it opened last year- and all I can say is- go and see it for yourself! As someone who grew up eating Southern Caucasus cuisine, I was so excited to see this restaurant open in this neighbourhood. As a huge bonus, they can accommodate vegans and vegetarians which I find is super rare for this type of cuisine! From the very moment you come in, you get a sense of a classic, old school vibe. Azerbaijani music plays on the speakers, the space has many family-style sitting booths, and it has the cutest decor I’ve seen in a long time. But what really gets you is the food. This cuisine profile is relatively unknown to most people, but Old Avenue really puts this region’s food on the culinary map. I started my lunch with Uzbek Plov, Cabbage Rolls and some Olivier Salad- and it was absolutely mouthwatering. As I’m writing, I’m thinking about the vibrant flavour profiles and the tantalizing scents. We then had the Pide (kind of like a pizza) which I LOVED! We topped it off with lahmajoon, dolma and kutabi, all truly incredible dishes worth a spot on your table.Just when I thought I couldn’t eat any more, out came the Georgian khingali- which is kind of like a much more delicious stuffed dumpling. Holy moly. I’m still thinking about it. I’d come back for the Khingali alone!!The owner, Esther, is a wonderful woman who takes a lot of pride in making her restaurant a very special place. Chef Mahmud prepares these dishes with a lot of care and effort- the two make an absolutely dynamic duo, both hailing from Azerbaijan. This restaurant is a MUST VISIT in Toronto, no question. Are you still reading this? Go make a reservation before it’s booked up! ?Vegetarian options: Old Avenue has rolled out a VEGAN menu which is absolutely delicious! The following dishes can be made vegan: Georgian khingali, lahmajoon, cabbage rolls, dolma, kutabi, salads, Uzbek Plov and variety of salads (Including Olivier)!Dietary restrictions: Vegan and Vegetarian“
“I met the owner when I liked a post on social media and he invited me to come try his product. The food is super fresh, full of flavour and the staff is amazingly friendly and willing to answer questions as Syrian food was a new adventure for me. I recently returned to Toronto and this was a prearranged stop, as it will be the next time I am in town as well. Well done, they deserve every star they receive!“
“I got invited to his wonderful place. A delicious taste of Siria in Toronto. And let me tell you Toronto, you've come a long way. Zezafoun is a definite come back. We ordered a shared dish that was super sufficient to satisfy our brunch hunger.“
“Amazing service super friendly and despite being extremely busy everything came out fast. They never rushed us either.Food is authentic and all of it was really really good.Place is busy so you need to luck with a table or pack your patience, but it will be worth it.Vegetarian options: Humus, tahini, saladsKid-friendliness: Family friendly“
“We were amazed and delighted to have had the opportunity to dine here. My partner is Palestinian and was excited to recommend and share in dishes that he had growing up. We ordered a lot so had to do a takeaway box but overall, we enjoyed each and every bite of the dishes. Must try’s are Limonada, Salatat Friekeh and Chicken Fukhara!“
