“One of the local dive bars that is good for lottery around town. It surprises me every time when they are frying a bunch of food in a big cloud of smoke comes out the top of the building. It always smells like wonderful fried Chicken when I'm driving by. I highly recommend it.“

“My friend and I visit here every Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Especially Jason. He remembers regulars, and is very genuinely caring about the people he serves. The servers, including Lupita, are very prompt and nice. Your drinks never go empty! We prefer this location because it’s not only open until 10pm, but because we have had such pleasant experiences with the staff. Food is pretty darn good too! Fresh breakfast meats and French toast! “This is a great first date place. The food presentation was outstanding. However, we felt it was a little blan. They use RC soda products here, which are flat at the bar but have carbonation if gotten from the back. Amazing happy hour!

We did buy a game card to play some games and it seemed like several of the games would read the card and charge it but not play, told a server and they took care of us, but seemed like a common occurrence. 😒“

“This review is based on our last few minutes paying the bill, everything else was top notch. Our group of 4 was chatting when our bills arrived and continued to visit, and our waiter came by to gather abit later and told him it was ready. At this time we Bagan to review our bills to pay one with a card and we were paying cash. As soon as I placed the cash in their bifold and placed on the table another waiter came to the table and stated being just like our waiter and dressed similarly. Worth noting she was about 110 5 foot or so with our waiter at 220 plus and 6ft or so wit a great beard. I stated that our waiter had much bigger feet and a great beard with my wife commenting about our matching hairlines... lol right. No next thing we get is she identifies as law enforcement and proceeds to walk away with an elevated voice "I'll kick beat you down" I turned left to my friend and sain now she wants to wrestle. At this point mist people are watching and then just short of screaming she yells "I'll Kick your A$$". And indeed the entire restaurant is watching on what was going on, I simply went back to visiting with our group not knowing what was next. Not long afterwards our waiter walked by and as he did thank me for the tip. No follow up from management nothing. So probably about 15 minutes after this a few other groups had left and we started our departure and still nothing. Over the years we have been here many times as a couple and a few large groups, after this event not to sure we could return for an enjoyable dining experience with their staff threatening some ones life unprovoked. “Everything about this restaurant is homely and inviting. I love that the plates aren't gargantuan sized. They feel like a nice home cooked meal and you really don't need a takeout box. The service is fast and friendly, though we showed up right at 11AM to ensure we had seating! Food was delicious, and the dessert was good. If you plan to buy any pastries, do so before you sit! We waited until after we were done eating and literally within and hour of opening, all the fruit strudel was gone. I was heartbroken because that's why I went! Well I won't be making that mistake twice! Buy it before you sit! Great place and such fun!“

“Love the building. Our server was lovely though covering too many tables. The menu has been shortened. I liked the soup and chose the farm salad with chicken. Both were very good. Parking is less convenient, no longer complimentary in the lot across the street and a bit of an archaic entryway to the building for those with limited mobility. Once inside it's lovely.“

“The food was so delicious. I love cooking but have not eaten anything this good. The Coconut Tilapia was so delicious, The oxtail, plantain, veggies, rice, chapati were so good. The food was delivered many miles away yet it was still very warm and very hygienically packed. If I lived in Portland, I would eat here as many times but unfortunately I'm in a different state but whenever I would visit Portland I would definitely eat at Amani African Cuisine.
