We’ve been coming here for years and as a person who loves hibachi (teppanyaki in Japan), this place has been a favorite of my family since our kids were small. The flavors they’re able to coax out of their protein and veggies never cease to blow us away. My husband and. I always get the shrimp/steak/chicken special for two on the grill and the way they get each protein perfect is like some kind of crazy voodoo magic on such a large grill. This small business and their staff are amazing and incredibly attentive, we always leave stuffed, happy and thankful for Fuji’s in Sherwood!“

“The best sushi I’ve ever had in Oregon. Just top-tier flavor profiles. Incredibly fresh fish. A warm inviting atmosphere with great customer service. I’ve never had even a single bad thing from the entire menu.

Highly advise the tangy tangy roll. I’ve never seen a sushi roll with razor thin lemon slices on it before, but it really works shockingly well. Everything is so bright and flavorful.
The price is slightly higher, but incredibly reasonable for the quality of food you get. Many many places in the area are charging $10 more per roll for rolls that are vastly inferior to this place.

I hope this place never shuts down because nothing compares.
Honorable mention to Syun Izakaya and Blue Fin Tuna & Sushi (1337 ne broadway, not the bluefin sushi bar down the road that’s awful) for being the only two that come remotely close in quality out of the hundreds of places I’ve tried in Oregon.“

The traditional Japanese design aesthetic includes a sushi bar and table seating in a comfortable ambience perfect for quiet dining for individuals and groups. Service is attentive and prompt. The Chirashi Bowl is my favorite because fresh lemon, wasabi and shoyu sauce highlight the assorted sashimi and rice. As in Japanese cuisine, where it’s believed to have digestive benefits, a small vibrantly-colored Dendrobium orchid blossom is an edible, delicately-flavored garnish on each dish. 🌸“

“Joy Poke is one of my favorite places to eat. The ingredients are consistently fresh and high quality, and I appreciate how clean and well-maintained everything is. “Anyone can seemingly make sushi seem better by making it more complex, but the real test is whether they can take the simple and make it excellent. Sushi-Ki-ichi does just that. They stick to the simple offerings, leading to an experience that feels less Americanized than other Japanese restaurants. That's not to say I don't love some level of creativity, but you don't need it here. That's because the family that owns Sushi Ki-ichi wants to create an authentic meal - a notion that was confirmed for sure when we had a conversation with the owner. In fact, they take quality to the next level with their equipment and efforts they take to make sure that what they serve is the highest quality, including specific freezers for the fish. We didn't try Sushi Ki-ichi for the first couple of years because we figured that the previous restaurant, a Chinese buffet that had gone downhill and fallen off the cliff, had rebranded and reopened as something new. Now I feel that for those first couple of years, we missed out. This has quickly become my favorite place in Portland. “Went here on a whim with a colleague and the atmosphere is gorgeous and refined but has a taste of izakaya to it! The food was absolutely delicious! I had the shrimp tempura maki and the wagyu (from Hokkaido, not American wagyu) nigiri and it was perfect! My colleague had the sashimi bento and bao bun. She fell in love with the bao bun and miso soup that came with the bento. Staff are super nice, attentive, and ready to answer any questions about the menu. I will definitely be back!“

“While visiting Portland, I came across Momoji, a small sushi restaurant that turned out to be a great find. Even though it's not a big place, the quality of the food really stood out. The sushi rolls were fresh, flavorful, and made with care. My favorite was the Salem Roll, which had an awesome combination of ingredients and tasted fantastic. I also decided to try the sushi burrito since it was something different from my usual order. It was unique, packed with fresh ingredients, and much more filling than I expected. I ended up finishing the whole thing. The staff was friendly, my food came out quickly, and the overall experience was excellent. I always enjoy finding small local restaurants that put so much effort into their food, and this place definitely did. If you're in Portland and looking for good sushi, Momoji is worth checking out. I'll definitely be stopping by again the next time I'm back in Oregon to try even more from the menu.“

“Fresh, beautifully presented sushi with great variety.

We ordered a mix of rolls and appetizers, and everything was consistently good. The rolls were well-balanced—not overly sauced—and the fish tasted fresh. The spicy tuna poke had a nice kick without overpowering the flavor of the fish, and the blistered shishito peppers were a perfect starter.

Presentation was thoughtful and elegant, especially the specialty rolls and nigiri. You can tell care went into both the food and plating. Service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed but polished…great for a casual dinner or a special night out.

Everything was incredibly fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The fish tasted super fresh, and the ingredient combinations were just perfect — nothing to add, nothing to change. I’m genuinely impressed.

I ordered three rolls, and it basically turned into three full meals — they’re that filling and generous in size.

I really think their crab salad mix used as the base for most rolls could use less mayo. It overwhelms the other flavors too much for my taste. And in general I felt things were too mayonnaise heavy inside rolls and as sauces of top. If they could change up their recipes to be a little less mayonnaise heavy it would make it one of my favorite conveyer belt sushi spots in the area.“
