You can tell they use quality ingredients. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the overall vibe was really nice. If you're a matcha lover, this spot is definitely worth checking out.“

“I wanted this to be 5-star so bad. The food was outstanding, service was ok. We got brunch instead of the full tea service. Upon ordering, we were told that in the afternoon, breakfast items on the ‘brunch’ menu are not available. It also took an hour+ and when served, we were told brunch was second priority. If it’s not a true brunch nor priority, why offer it? These are both items I would have appreciated knowing before making an expensive brunch reservation.“

“Wow! We have been fans of Dean's Homestyle Cafe for many years. When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. The food is still excellent with super generous, well prepared portions and very reasonable prices. Well done!“

“We stopped by on Saturday night at 4:30 P.M. A little social media birdie had told me that they were open for dinner from 4:30PM to 9 PM on Friday and Saturdays (make sure to check their website for earlier hours). It’s a cute little spot. Lots of local art on the walls for sale and lots of seating. You can tell they make everything from scratch and you can follow the smoky and tantalizing smells of barbecue right to the door. My friend and I shared the deviled eggs with the bacon lardon-🤤-so good! Flavorful and tender. My friend got the polenta bowl with greens and brisket. I tried a bite and it was delicious! I had the mac & cheese with chicken and bacon lardon topped with breadcrumbs. Tender pasta and bacon and smoked chicken in a creamy sauce-yum! We ordered house red and white wines and both were great selections. We also took three of their dessert selections home for later. The location is a little off the beaten path, but I think it would be worth it for you to come on in and support this local business. I know that my friend and I will be back.“

“I stopped at a great little place and had a large French Roast coffee and a breakfast sandwich ham egg and cheese on a fresh croissant. 2 min and I was enjoying a great sandwich at a great value. I met Joo and he was very friendly. They are pet friendly with free dog treats. Enjoy staying and eat inside or sit outside below large very impressive trees that I am sorry I can’t tell you the species.
Anyway stop by and enjoy a quick bite and coffee. He also has an espresso machine to make anything to rival a Starbucks but at much better price point.“

“Went in this morning and ordered a coffee. The order was taking a bit, so I went up to check, thinking maybe it'd gotten dropped. Everyone's busy, stuff happens, I get it. There was an employee mopping the area and he said it'd be a minute. Then I realized it wasn't routine mopping but a cleanup situation. I apologized to him and said I didn't realize what had happened. He said "I'm John, the owner. We have a rule here that when an employee spills something, somebody else cleans it up. They're stressed out enough." Let me spell that out...the owner was wielding a mop to ease the mental load on one of his employees. Now I want to get a job there just to learn how to be a better person. Stay classy, John, you're doing it more than right.“

“We had our Company Christmas party at Ohanna Hawaiian Cafe and everyone that worked there was so gracious and helpful. We had a mix of ages and everyone found something to their liking on their menu. The food is fresh, delicious and huge servings. I had the Kahlúa pork with mac salad and white rice. “I love Ruby’s! I’ve been eating here basically every week for a year and it’s consistently a very fine eatery! Ruby (not THE Ruby) is a joy to see every week and a customer service WIZ. Drake and the rest of the crew as well are all so sweet and lovely. This isn’t even mentioning how delicious all the food is and how creative the drink menu always is. I love the little hand made signage they do regularly. All in all one of my favorite places!“

“The best breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos in the South Waterfront area. Best of all, pricing is very affordable and portion sizes are big. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from OHSU, but worth going out of your way for if you have the time. The owner is very friendly and remembers all the customers.

They have a big parking lot in front that always has a lot of spaces open. I don't drive, so I've never examined it closely, but it looks like parking is free.“

I will say they do tend to be slower to get through their lines, so if you are trying to get coffee before work or in a rush this may not be the best spot. However, if you are not in a hurry, their service and quality of product is excellent!

The baristas here are always friendly & thoughtful, and the drinks are always made perfectly! Some black rock locations can miss the mark on their drink making, but the beverages here are always spot on!

To no fault of this location, black rock tends to not have the best food options. Many of their pastries are dry or bland, but their egg bites are good at least!

Id recommend trying this location on a day where you arent in a rush & it will be worth your time:)“

What was a surprise was that the seating area was full of what I am guessing are regulars art peices drawn while at Berties. “I was invited to play Mah Jongg at the Jewish community center. I've never been here before and had no idea how big it is. I didn't have time to wonder around and see what was all there, but the little Cafe was nice and clean, with plenty to choose from for drinks and food. There is security at the door and you must fill out a card to get into the building at the reception desk. Lots of nice people. I hope to go back in the future.“

The bagels are great as an egg-&-cheddar breakfast sandwiches, everyone who works there when I've been in is a treat, and the daylight is *fantastic* because it's in a house raised off the street. This also means the front patio and outdoor side tables aren't right on the street, all the better for hanging out. “I arrive early for my doctor’s appointment and went to this lovely cafe. The fruit parfait was so yummy. Since I had 30+ minutes to spare I took my time indulging in what I call the perfect fruit parfait. Creamy, fresh fruit and granola. I’m a fan of Icelandic yogurts and this parfait reminded of that due to the richness and clean taste of the yogurt combined with the freshness of the other ingredients. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.“
