“Came in a little after 8 pm to a fully packed store with very demanding customers. There was one employee working and she was the sweetest. Was clearly running from back to front to keep things stocked while also managing the front of the store and all the customers. I’ve never seen it this busy. Please let whoever the young woman who was working on the evening of March 14 that she was doing an excellent job!“

“First off, if you’re on a budget and looking to escape the heat wave, listen up. They’re the only place in the area with snowballs (shaved ice in a styrofoam dish). And they start at like $2.75. The kids size is like a small. The small is like a medium, and so on. They have a 50 cent Elvis Presley theme pinball machine. For a quarter, a child under 100 pounds can ride Sandy the horse (an antique ride). They have Hello Kitty coloring pages and crayons. The service there is excellent. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience, and I wish more people knew about this place. It’s right next to the West Shore Theatre on Bridge Street. If you’re looking for a cost-effective and family-friendly place to hang out, their air conditioning is fantastic too.“

“Perfect cool snack after a full day hiking on the AT in Dauphin area.
Kids size soft serve vanilla was just perfect for our pup!
Small size bowl was shockingly big!
The mint chocolate chip was so refreshing.

“Excellent! They have the best custard known to man! And their variety of Italian ice flavors are wonderful! Still have many of the original flavors we've grown to love plus many other mixes of custard, Italian ice, frappes, lemonade, and more. It's been my favorite gelati joint for over 10 years.
Parking: There are about 5 parking spots in front of the shop, however in the summertime they are always full. In the Lemoyne location, there is a Dollar General next door that allow customers to park and walk a few feet to the shop.
Kid-friendliness: There are a few picnic benches where many families sit with children and doggies too!
Wheelchair accessibility: It's all one level so yes it is wheelchair accessible.“

“Rakestraw’s is my go-to stop for ice cream. Their ice cream is outstanding! They always have my favorite flavor, Banana Pudding, in stock. My kids love their homemade milkshakes!
The portion sizes are incredibly generous, especially for the price, and the waffle cones are absolutely delicious. Every visit is a great value!
What really sets Rakestraw’s apart, though, is the people. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the owners are fantastic. They are genuinely invested in the community and have supported our school through several giveback events over the past few years. It’s clear they care about more than just serving great ice cream.
If you’re looking for amazing ice cream, friendly service, and a business that gives back to the community, Rakestraw’s is hard to beat!“

“We were excited to visit this highly rated Coffee Shop for the first time. When we arrived from out of town we were unable to find accessible parking. There were steps up to the entrance which also made it complicated for our 2 wheelchair guests. The place looks so unique & cool, so I’ll definitely return to scope it out on my own to see if I can come back with my physically disabled guests.“

“We stopped by Candy Mountain Creamery and loved it! The affogato was absolutely amazing, the perfect combination of rich espresso and creamy ice cream. My daughter had the vanilla soft serve and said it was the best she’s ever had. It’s so cute inside. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Whistle Stop on Wheels provided ice-cream at The Journey's Back to School Block party that catered to 750-1,000 people! They were a hit! I highly recommend them for any event small or large. Great selection of ice cream, great prices, and a great business owners/staff. Highly recommend!“

“Tiny ice cream shop. With a struggling AC. The girl behind the counter sweetly served all 24 of us! (We had called ahead) the scoop sizes varied a little, but I’m not complaining. We were a lot of people!
There is only 2 tables for seating. I’d like try one of the other locations, cause the ice cream was fabulous! They just need more seating, and the entire space was kinda cluttered. I’ll probably be back, cause I really appreciate high quality ice cream, but I don’t recommend coming with more than 5-6 people. And I’d consider this a takeout only.“

“Visited Cold Stone Creamery in Mechanicsburg recently and had a really good experience. The ice cream was fresh, creamy, and the mix-ins were blended perfectly. Staff was friendly and patient while taking the order, and the place had a nice atmosphere. Loved the variety of flavors and toppings available. Definitely a great spot if you’re craving desserts or ice cream with friends and family. Will be visiting again soon!“

“I have been a Dairy Queen fan for probably 40+ years of my life. Started out as an occasional treat for my husband and I when we were first married in Hagerstown, MD. Over the years we’ve moved around with his job, and we’ve ended up retiring here in Mechanicsburg. We’ve been going to the Simpson St. Dairy Queen for over 24 years and I have to tell you, the people who work there are like family to us, especially to me since I am usually the customer. They are always ready to serve you with a smile and a kind word, even when they are BUSY! I have three grown daughters who all live far away and I miss them, but the girls here are like daughters to me. Today, on the day before Mother’s Day, when I was feeling a little down because I couldn’t be with my own daughters, I was given a special treat that MADE MY DAY! In a world where we are struggling with a virus, and we read of so much suffering, it is a blessing to know that there are loving people who care for others that they only know from serving them! If you’ve never been here you need to go, not only for the delicious ice cream, but for the family-friendly atmosphere and service! Wendy R.“

The product is superb & they let you mix flavorz to customize your ice cream..
I forgot to mention that their waffle cones and bowls are made on site & can be smelled from yards away.
When you lean into the window there is no smell of sour milk either.
