Knowing that this dinner was organized to help support Sue's and keep this important community staple open made the experience even more meaningful. The evening featured a beautifully executed seven-course meal served in a communal dining setting, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Now live in Key West for last 30 years but specifically make sure each time I come up to see family I go to Villa Di Roma, clams casino, asparagus, gravy and the people there that run it all family. Amazing piece of the food history of the Italian market that is a must try anytime.“

The service was amazing throughout the meal, I wish I got the servers name as he was really an incredibly friendly young man who clearly knew the menu very well. The atmosphere is wonderful and the interior is just lovely. In terms of the food, I had the wild boar bolognese which was a special that night, and it was AMAZING!! “Thank heavens for Colonial Beach Local Foodie’s referral. Meet a gentleman at Thousand Trails resort just outside of Colonial Beach Va. that had a thick Upstate NY accent. We preceded to reminisce about family in Upstate NY,, of course food rolled into the conversation,. That’s how I came across Nonna Lena’s Italian Cuisine. I stopped by the restaurant by myself a couple of later.. Thought I’d get a quick lunch fix. Wrong! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I the chief my plate of Eggplant Parmesan. What a wonderful freshly made dinner (plus leftovers for 2 extra meals). The staff all were very friendly. Chiefly came out to see how I liked my meal. He shared some details about the newly open restaurant & homemade recipes, etc. He mentioned breakfast was also served and somehow in the conversation he decided to send me home with a sample of sausages & gravy along with my husbands meal. OMGoodness, the next day my breakfast was fantastic. Foodie’s note. Their food is prepared fresh from scratch daily😊. Don’t past by Colonial Beach Va. without dinning at Nonna Lena’s Italian several times.“

“Too difficult to buy a cup of coffee here, the coffee ordering set up should be in the front, not the back and why is it so dark in the back? I want to like this place but it has no vibe…just the sight of staffers running around. The Hostess always looks bored and the back is like a madhouse. It’s one of the only places to get a cup of coffee ☕ near to Rittenhouse Park but where it’s well lit, it’s a quiet upscale grocery shop but the back feels like you’ve entered a subway station at rush hour!

Not sure what the remedy is but I’d suggest that you open up the front space, remove the annoying velvet rope and stop putting “reserved” signs on all of the tables (just sit people there who want to enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes). This is a beautiful spot, but boy does it stress me out once you walk in the back.

Put on Italian music and hire some drop dead gorgeous guy or gal who knows how to convey ITALIAN WARMTH to customers!!! Every time I walk in the hostess is shy. She should be greeting guests and be IN FRONT, not planted at the podium.

“Highlely recommend...Food was fantastic, service was dialed in, and atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The star of the appetizer round (ciccheti) was the dragon tongue bean and honey nut squash, sauteed on a grill top with simple seasoning that showcased the fresh ingredients. For pasta we loved the stuffed farfale - basically italian roast pork with rabe and provolone in a well executed homemade sachet of goodness executed to perfection, decadent but not overpowering. We also had the lamb tagliatelle ragu, also excellent but tough to follow the farfale. Service was friendly, attentive and relaxed how we like it. Note... wines are Pennsylvania sourced from Wayvine, which we were not familiar with but were good not great. Especially enjoyed the dry reisling with the appetizer and farfale followed by the carmine (earthy) with the ragu pasta. We'll be back for sure...“
