“Our first experience at a James Beard award winning restaurant (2017) and chef was incredible at Vernick Fish in Philadelphia to celebrate Trent’s graduation! I know now what this caliber of food and service means and all other restaurants pale in comparison to Vernick Fish and Greg Vernick(semi-finalist chef 2025). From the appetizers (dozen oysters from RI, MA, ME, PEI) to the drinks and main course were all uniquely exquisite and cannot be replicated anywhere else. The constant doting with new silverware at each course and cleaning of the table was undeniably royalty treatment. Even the bathroom was an experience-I need the hand lotion in my life (instantly made my hands look 30 years younger). The portions, ambiance and service were all equally perfect! I highly recommend you check out Vernick Fish. We will definitely return!“

“Went tonight as a group of 4. The owner was also our server and he was very kind and very funny. It feels like he’s hosting a big party in his living room. We shared 3 apps (octopus, artichoke, and the shrimp special) and we each had our own entree. Plus we shared 2 desserts. With tip, the price was very affordable for such an excellent meal.“

“I was skeptical because I absolutely love eating meat. Meat and bbq is a huge part of my life. That being said dinner Saturday night was unbelievably fantastic. I absolutely loved everything that we ordered. Moms meatballs were my favorite dish. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that they are vegan. “Truly a 10/10 experience from start to finish.

This was our first visit after hearing so many great things, and we left feeling like family. Our server, Grant, was fantastic, super attentive, incredibly helpful, and genuinely kind. The rest of the staff made us feel just as welcome. We were originally seated inside but asked if it would be possible to move outside, and they happily accommodated us without hesitation.

Since it was our first time, we had no idea what to order. We basically rallied the staff and bombarded them with questions, and everyone was more than happy to help. We ended up trusting their recommendations, and they absolutely nailed it. We ordered the sausage & fennel pizza, the mushroom white pizza, the kale Caesar, the focaccia, and the ricotta dip. Every single thing blew us away.

The pacing of the meal was perfect. Everything came out at just the right time, so the table never felt cluttered. We definitely ordered with our eyes, but we weren’t complaining because the leftovers were just as exciting to take home.

The focaccia deserves a special mention. You can tell the bread program is something they take a lot of pride in. Their dough is absolutely dialed in. As someone who loves wood-fired pizza, it’s always a treat to get a pie that’s still sturdy and not floppy,
a difficult thing to pull off when you’re cooking pizzas in under three minutes at around 800 degrees.

One of the highlights of the night was when the chef let us try a new dish he was working on; a tomato salad with caramelized breadcrumbs. It was absolutely mind-blowing and fit seamlessly with the rest of the menu. I think it’s easy for new chefs to come in wanting to make a statement or put too much of their own ego into every dish. This wasn’t that at all. It was thoughtful, humble, and incredibly well-executed. It complemented what was already a fantastic menu instead of trying to overshadow it. You can tell there’s a real sense of collaboration in the kitchen, and it’s exciting to see that kind of synergy. They already had something special, and it feels like great things are still to come.

Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes were perfect for me and my date.

A huge thank you to Danny, Grant and Garrett, who were absolute sweethearts, along with the rest of the team for making our first visit so memorable. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional, and the hospitality made all the difference.

“We came for bunch for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The crab Benedict was amazing, the sangria pancakes were fluffy and perfect! My daughter absolutely love everything! Served super friends, and staff quick to clear dirty dishes. We will definitely be returning!!“

“Fun little neighborhood hideaway spot that features a good number of options for drinks alongside plenty of food options.

There are a good number of drafts that rotate fairly frequently, alongside some fun cocktail choices. The food menu isn't big, but have a good number of appetizers and sandwich options and they were all satisfactory during my multiple visits. Staff are friendly and helpful and are usually attentive of everything.“

“First Ill start with the pros - the staff Katelyn and Fiona were soo sweet, attentive, and welcoming. Katelyn wasn’t even our assigned server for the night but she made our evening! The view is beautiful and the building that it’s in is so cool. We were sat down right away for our reservation and the food was really tasty. We were overall very satisfied and would return most definitely.

Now for the cons - I would have to agree the serving sizes are small for the price point truly. The food tasted yummy so it didnt necessarily bug us too much, but I definitely would recommend coming here only for a light dinner/ appetizers with drinks type of place. For example the fish we got was $75 (market price) and the pasta was a few bites per person for a full size. Definitely wouldn’t recommend a group of more than four people just based on the seating. Overall I think coming here for a date, birthday or nice dinner is a wonderful experience and I hope that the staff get the appreciation they deserve.“

“This is a long-standing hidden gem tucked away in the underground walkway of 2 Penn Center. Incredible delicious food is always worth seeking out. The soup buns and pan-fried dumplings are bursting with juicy fillings—my whole family absolutely loved them, we were blown away!“

“Love Fishtown Social! I always look forward to Mystery Wine Mondays, where you can get $10 glasses of wine and get to guess what kind of wine it is. If you win, you get the bottle! I've really come to look forward to Mondays now, which is hard for anyone to say. Good portions, crisp lettuce and tomato toppings. Make a fresh fried chicken breast instead of a frozen one and this place will be super :) thanks to the great staff!“

“I was staying at the Marriott residence inn right next door…didn’t want to walk too far…nice place, the bar is booming and busy…I opted for a salad, brownie and the ice cream and a cappuccino …we made some modifications and it tasted great…service is prompt and overall experience was very great…I went for a walk afterwards, since I had the brownie…lol“
