50 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Knoxville

“I’ve eaten at JC Holdway many of times over the last 4 years with my last visit being earlier this week. The food has always been delicious but this last visit exceeded expectations. We were so excited to eat we didn’t even get pictures of our food.
Of course the food was fresh and local but all elements of every dish we ate were executed at such high levels it blew my wife and I away. From creativity in plating to salt levels and acidity. Our dinner was phenomenal. Thank you to Chef Lenn and the whole team in the kitchen and at front of house.

What we ate:
Smoked fish dip (ask for extra chips if you run out before your dip is gone)
Pork belly biscuits (must order)

Grilled shrimp (my favorite)
Carrots (could have eaten 2 orders of this)

Chicken (stole the show)
Pork chop (amazing flavor)

“We went here for our annual office Christmas dinner. The food was incredible- but the service was TOP NOTCH. All the servers were great but our main server Grace was knowledgeable as most of us had never been there before, our guys can get obnoxious and she handled them great and she was on top of everything. We didn’t feel rushed or like we were waiting for anything even though we spent over four hours enjoying our experience. 5 out of 5 stars would def recommend and am going to personally bring family back for celebrations. Great times were had by us all.“

“stopped in for a quick snack while getting tires changed and oh man. I had a gyro with a baklava, first bite had me hooked. hands down some of the best flavor in blount county. The gyro had me stuffed, but that first bite of baklava 🤤 so light, and crispy the perfect dessert to compliment the flavor profile. going to make this a regular stop.“

“Wonderful Greek tapas (is that cultural appropriation allowed?) that encompass a variety of tastes. Innovative takes on classic Greek favorites, with a definite eye toward well sized, shareable portions. Great service that's attentive without being intrusive (though we went on a Tuesday; I don't know what chaos a Friday or Saturday would entail) with thoughtful recommendations. Pistachio ice cream with the baklava is genius!“

“Jig and Reel is a Knoxville staple. I’ve been coming here since college. The whiskey menu is extensive so if that’s your thing, this is the place. The food is shockingly good. I have always loved their fish and chips - super crispy, great fries, and homemade tartar sauce. My husband loves their scotch egg. We reserved their side room for an event recently and were so impressed. There was no fee for renting as we had about 30 people there that would be eating and ordering drinks. We were able to decorate the room to our liking (but of course took everything down afterwards). We ordered a charcuterie board and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Our server (can’t remember his name but he kinda looks like the DJ ‘Eliminate’) was fantastic. He was fast with orders, very observant of the room, and offered help wherever we needed. I was also happy to see that we were still treated well with it being a queer event - there was no hostility. We’ll happily have more events in the future here.“

“This is simply the best restaurant in Knoxville. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the servings are large and the food is hot or cold, depending on what it is. The wonderful slaw is always chilled. In addition, the servers are friendly and efficient, although possibly overworked. What a great experience!“

Only complaint was cashier on her phone and FaceTiming someone. Loudly. “I host events at HiWire and Leslie and her crew have always been so accommodating from day one. They are such a delight to work with. I love the space and how flexible they are with working with any event hosted there. It is extremely dog and family friendly. They always have a great selection of drinks for any pallette. the rooftop is a great spot on good weather days. Definitely recommend checking it out.“

Everything from steak to chicken to fish to pinto beans and cornbread,Absolutely delicious. “What an incredible place. Everything is made by hand or made fresh! The fried fish and shrimp is lightly battered so it’s not greasy and very palatable. The slaw is made in house as well as fresh greens are cut prepared daily. The banana pudding is out of this world.Maddie was an amazing server. Did an excellent job explaining our questions about the menu when you stop by ask for Maddie.“

“Quite frankly & straight to the point, for years I only went to another local Knoxville sushi spot that had half price sushi nights. Then my husband introduced me to Tangerine & it's the only place I happily go to & pay full price. The employees are the nicest ever! The food is great! The hot dishes are always piping hot & the sushi is great! We go at least once a month, if not more often. Presentation is always on point.“

“We're visiting Knoxville and were looking for a nice Italian meal. This place didn't disappoint. We were greeted by friendly staff and got a few suggestions. We started with cheesy bread, perfection! The dough was good with a nice chewiness, lots of cheese and garlic. I had a ham calozone and it was cooked perfectly, that great dough, real ricotta cheese and seasoning, a nice robust marina on the side. My husband had the tortellini with meat sauce and garlic bread. The pasta was the perfect. We both had the recommended tiramasu, this is the star of the show. I have never tasted such wonderful food. We each had a fountain drink and all together was only $50. Service was phenomenal. I'm sad to go home because I know I have nothing close to the quality of this place. Absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. We'll be heading there again tomorrow for lunch so we can have it one more time before leaving Knoxville.“
