“Incredible meal, this place is the real deal for local food. You may notice it's inside a gas station but don't let that deter you. I was offered samples of their gumbo, which I gladly tried, and then ordered one of. It was absolutely delicious, with a generous portion too.“

“Dined in on Sunday with a couple of friends and had Ryan as the server. He provided excellent servicing to my table despite the equipment supply issues that the store was experiencing. The atmosphere could use some improvements, particularly the AC, because it was extremely humid and hot in the dining are of the restaraunt. There was also an employee name Thanh that assisted in that making our experience enjoyable (bringing out our food extremely quick as well as condiments, gloves, bibs) especially for cleaning up the water spilled by another table nearby that manage to reach our seats and providing towels as well as a mat to my friend who had sat down on the chair with water on it and got their pants wet.The Food was outstanding, not much of a seafood person so I can't comment on their crawfish, shrimp and other boiled seafood options but absolutely love their Fish sauce and salt & pepper flavor wings, so much that I had to get several orders for takeout to eat later when I got home; was assisted by an employee in the front (unfortunately I didn't ask for their name but it was an Asian male employee).Parking: Much easier to find if you park in the back; where the curbside sign is. The restaraunt is inside Hong Kong City Mall right next to the Ocean Palace restaraunt“

“The place is the right place to enjoy a good meal very close to the Sam Houston (8) at the Veterans memorial, very good service from the staff, the menu is very easy to understand and choose your favorite dish, the response time is almost immediate between 8 to 15 minutes depends on the dishes you selected and the delicious food is a pleasure to enjoy the palate if you like Mediterranean food (seafood), highly recommended and excellent service from the staff, very clean areasKid-friendliness: It is a family area so it is suitable for childrenWheelchair accessibility: How much has a very wide ramp for wheelchairs?“

“I visited today and was pleasantly surprised. As a Louisiana native, it's hard to find places that offer authentic creole dishes. Their food reminded me so much of home! ?⚜️ Even my children, who usually pass on cajun fare when eating out, gave it two thumbs up! “First time coming here. Only went here because another place I was going to was packed. Google searched to see what other crawfish places were nearby. Glad I tried this place out!! I bought 3lbs of their kickin style flavor. A little on the sweet side for my liking but still very tasty. Corn was good. Sausage was OK. I don't ever care for potatoes but the wife wanted some. Also got the shrimp and fish basket with Cajun fries. Overall we were extremely satisfied. Crawfish was 8.99/lb. Decent size. Only a few dead ones. The shrimp was seasoned and fried perfectly. And so was the fish (I requested for catfish). All in all I would definitely go back again. The wife isn't a big crawfish eater or fried food but even she liked it a lot!!“

“Why is it great? I had crawfish etouffee. It was the right level of spicy. My mother had the pan seared trout, which came out crispy and buttery. My waitress anticipated every want. The waitstaff smile and help each other, which tells you a lot about the restaurant and how it is managed. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth the splurge.“

“It's hard to believe that 27 years ago when I was much younger, I used to work at this location. Today, I came here with my Cajun mom, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they haven’t missed a beat. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the food was outstanding. My only criticism is that prices have increased since the last I was here LOL! Other than that, the food was spectacular, and we had a great time. “This legit has to be the best place we have eaten seafood at! Everything is always so fresh & flavorful. My all time favorite is the salt & pepper shrimp with a side of coco loco sauce. “I was looking for real gulf catfish and a nice cocktail. So I searched Google and Yelp reviews in my area and found RIAN'S. This eatery more than met my expectations, Rodney was very hospitable and explained their menu offerings very well! A couple of "regulars" came in for a quick drink and we made great conversation about their great experiences at RIAN'S as well. They were just opening and preparing for a busy day, but that did stop them from providing excellent service and food. I had the crawfish dip with the house made chips, catfish and crab fried rice. My drinks were the blueberry lemon drop and their version of a good old fashioned! I'll try their sidecar on my next visit. I heard great things about them! I appreciate the great experience and will be back!“

“OMG everything is great about this Treebeards location! Food and staff were AWESOME and the restaurant and patio are amazing ?. My wife and I ate here and I had the chicken fried chicken, collard greens and mashed potatoes and she had the shrimp etoufee and we had some wonderful jalapeño cornbread. All of it was just fabulous and the service was amazing. We sat on the outdoor patio because the weather was perfect. Highly recommended!“

“Called in a order for lunch and was meet with a friendly loving voice. Gumbo mama herself took my order and she was so helpful and customer service was excellent. Now, I order the medium Gumbo and a piece of fried fish. The fried fish didn't even make it back to work. Crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. Baby that GUMBO was soooooo good. Filled with chicken and shrimp and sausage. Also came with a crab leg too! Really did taste like my grandmothers gumbo. Just because it's on the inside of a gas station don't look past it. The Peruvian scallops are dynamite, roasted oysters are great (it’s hard to find truly flavorful roasted oysters and these deliver) and their chicken and sausage gumbo is hard to beat.There are two types of bread pudding in the world, really bad and amazing. This is the latter!Can’t wait to return! Only thing I wouldn’t rave about is their cocktails but we only tried 2. “For being our first time there it was an awsome experience. We were a group of 19 women who had come from the RGV to a women's conference in Houston Tx. Aside from the food being so so good, Destiny our server was who made it great. She made sure our drinks were always filled and constantly asked if we needed anything. “Pappasito’s has been one of my favorite restaurants in Houston for many years.We have not been to Pappasito's in a while due to their ever increasing prices, but we tried it one more time on last Thursday.It was around 3:00pm. Not many people. The "Hostess" did not want to seat me. I looked around the empty restaurant and asked why she would not seat me and told me the wait would be 20 minutes. I called the manager. And he gave me an excuse that they were short in personnel and I have to wait, instead of seating us and committing to provide a good positive experience regardless as they have always done it. My positive experience has not been the same and they keep raising their prices to a point that it’s ridiculous high. Lunch for three people, a beef quesadilla, two tacos, a small tortilla soup, water and two drinks $40 per person? Something in their management has changed.“

What we DID order was fried shrimp and wings. Which were very delicious anyway but I think the crowd showed us what we missed out on. I also love the fact that the owner always preps food for a few homeless people so they come around at a certain time. One day I was going to buy food for 1 and he told me not to worry that he got it that he feeds them every day. Great businessman because he knows if you do good you will receive good ??“

“Treebeards has been around for more than 30 yrs. It is still as good as the very first time I tried it back in the 90’s. The cafeteria style is fast and the food is amazing. The fried catfish and red beans & rice are the best you will find anywhere. This place is an institution. I hope it continues to be around for many years to come. The people that work here are SO nice…. and all the desserts are wonderful!??“

“I used to frequent this place back in the late 90s on Friday nights and always had a wonderful time listening to the live zydeco music and sometimes even getting on the dance floor. I have to say if anything this place has not changed and in my opinion is even better than what I remember. I was anticipating they would not have any healthier food items but they actually had a very good menu. Service was hard to rate because you place your order at the counter and pick up your own food and the music is so loud on Friday nights, it's really hard to hear the cashier but I feel that's pretty normal. They have Indoor seating at pub style tables and an outside patio with bigger tables if you have a bigger party.“

“This was my first time eating here. The food was ok. I ordered the trout. It wasn't what I was expecting but it wasn't too bad either. I tried some of my daughter's food and the fried catfish and stuffed shrimp were really good and their bread and butter were good. Our server was amazing. Im sorry I didn't catch his name. The Big Problem we had was they do not have a ramp down into the dinning area. Only steps and their elevator was broken. We had our elderly aunt, who uses a walker and can't walk without it, with us. We had to get her down and then back up the steps. It was very nerve wrecking.“

Here's my thoughts:Pros:-Friendly staff-Food was fresh and piping hot-The shrimp and fish pieces were big and fried to perfection!-The fries were crunchy and well seasoned-Prices were very reasonable-Close to TSUCons:-Looks to be Asian-owned (not Black-owned though this restaurant is right in the heart of Houston's blackest community, 3rd ward)-The batter on the fish slides off; the binder they used (not sure if it's mustard or egg) didn't seem to hold the batter together well (see my pic)- Tarter sauce come in a packet, it's not house-madeOverall, I wouldn't mind coming back for the shrimp again but not the fish. I'd also like to try their chicken wings. I need to see what that's hittin on.“

Everything was great!I ordered the redfish étouffée at the recommendation of our server. It was fantastic. Edges of the redfish nice and crisp. The shrimp was delicious. Although I have never actually tried grits before today, the jalapeño grits were delicious. Great consistency and complimented the redfish well.My daughter had the surf and turf and cleaned her plate. The place was very authentic feeling and right in the heart of Houston so easy to get to and certainly a different experience than the city scape. I will say their pea pudding (forget what they call it but to me it was pea pudding) and corn bread was delicious! Also, good value for serving size!“

“The shrimp and grits are really good when you can get them during the week before 3:00 p.m.. lobster bisque used to be on the menu but now is only offered on occasion. My kids like the fried shrimp and just stuffed crabs. “I don't even know where to begin but here goes. There really was not a wait to be seated but it did seem to be busy. Once seated Jaylon came along to introduce himself. I am very picky when ordering a drink but when I explained to Jaylon what I wanted, his suggestion was phenomenal. My drink was so delicious. Same goes for entree option, he did the same along with make assuring the back kitchen of my food allergies. He was so great at everything. I spoke to Mr. Woods (manager of the night) about the entire experience. Both Mr. Woods and Jaylon made our overall the entire experience was PERFECT!!!
