“Took our kids here while visiting San Antonio. Very delicious. All the kids commented that it was better than regular ice cream. My son even went back for seconds with his own money. Would definitely visit again. Wish I had one in my own town.“

“Fantastic coffee, sweetest baristas, the food and vibes are immaculate. Love the vinyl DJs there everyday and the back garden space is so cute. I learned that they do so much to work with and support local musicians and music non profits. It’s the cutest little treat shop in Austin with a lot of heart cause they sure do TRY HARD! ☕️✨☕️Are the prices a bit steep? Sure, but it’s reflective of a business trying to make a difficult change in an industry that’s been operating on not paying folks what they are worth for a very long time. Will for sure be coming back here! ???“

“I have always cherished the authentic culinary delights from Phoenicia Bakery & Deli. Among these, the homemade kibbeh has always held a special place in my heart. Its perfect blend of finely ground meat, bulgur, and spices, all lovingly hand-shaped and cooked to perfection, offered not just a meal but an experience that spoke of tradition and quality. Recently, I've noticed the shift to offering frozen kibbeh, and while it serves as a decent substitute, it doesn't quite capture the essence of the fresh version. The frozen kibbeh, though convenient and satisfactory in moments of craving, lacks the freshness, the distinct textures, and the warmth of homemade kibbeh that I've come to love and expect. I understand the challenges and pressures that might lead to such a decision, but I can't help but express how much the homemade kibbeh is missed. It was more than just food; it was a testament to the care, authenticity, and culinary excellence that Phoenicia Bakery & Deli represents. I kindly urge you to consider bringing back the homemade kibbeh. Its return would not only delight many of your patrons but also reaffirm Phoenicia Bakery & Deli's dedication to providing genuine, high-quality cuisine that connects us to culture and tradition in every bite. Thank you for taking the time to consider this request, and I eagerly await the day I can once again savor the unparalleled taste of your homemade kibbeh.“

“I just bought the strawberry cheesecake today! My family LOVED IT, the vegans and the non-vegans! My brother even loved it, and he’s the kind of dude that makes fun of and doesn’t like vegan food. “I love uppercrust, but ever since they changed the bearclaw recipe, I've been disappointed... it was better before. It was tender and bready and chewy and had a good amount of filling. I think they changed it to the croissant dough, and I love a croissant, but it doesn't work with the bearclaw for me! They had a special and unique thing there that nowhere else had, and now it's always dry, kind of tough, and sometimes the filling is just a log of cream cheese and somehow a log of intact (not melted) chocolate. At this point I'd rather go somewhere else than face the disappointment of my favorite pastry in austin being gone. I've given it so many chances since the recipe change and it's just not what I want! I loved it before!!! Change it back pleeeeaaaasseeeeeee. They have a lot of other great stuff though... their coconut cream pie has a layer of chocolate between the crust and the filling and the whole thing is delicious.“

“I finally found a bakery in Austin that has the perfectly crafted, out of this world cakes and pastries. It’s quite a drive from my house but I will even walk to this place for the deliciousnesses. My son’s new favorite and mine too…Plus their cakes feel so light on body and soul…Thanks to the one who bakes these beauties.“

“I absolutely loved this place. I got a latte and a wrap while I worked here for a few hours in the afternoon on a beautiful day. I spent a lot of time gazing at the lake. You can see fish and turtles in the lake, from above, if you are patient enough. The whole vibe of this place is amazing. I was an out of state visitor and would definitely come back here when I visit Austin again!“

“I recently spent 5 days on a girls trip to Austin, a city I had previously only visited once, like 7 years ago. Since that trip, I have viewed Texas with a nearly singular goal of revolution--uh, I mean, trying Texas-style kolaches. So imagine my glee when a kolache and beer establishment presented itself as an option?! We tried to go one afternoon, but kolaches were in seriously limited supply, so we returned the next morning. I had a little bit of the ol' vacation gut, and it was relatively early, so I didn't partake of any beer, but their selection, which featured a variety of Czech style beers, looked really good. If I go back, will definitely try one or three of them. What I did have and enjoy, however, was a delightful oat milk latte as well as some kolaches. Got a veggie sausage & gouda, four cheese (which was split), and a strawberry & cheese, which most resembles the kolaches you find in the Czech Republic. My companions got a jalapeño cheese and a couple of meat options, which I did not try. But lemme tell you: that shit was good! Airy yet indulgent, substantial but not overwhelmingly so. Very good. Service was prompt and friendly, the spot is very cute, and they have great souvenirs to take home and prove to your friends that you had what is, perhaps, one of the best kolache experiences in Texas*. (* As previously stated, I have been to Texas exactly two times, both trips to Austin, so the veracity of this last statement should be taken with a significant chunk of salt.)“

“I lived in Paraguay for a number of years and this brought me right back to those days! The empanadas were beautifully made and the chipa! Seriously, the chipa was excellent. If you haven’t tried it then you are missing out! I loved the mate cocido and just how everything here is made with love! The owner is such a hard worker and she really cares about her customers and shop. I came in here with my little girl and the owner was so sweet to her. “Great neighborhood spot for pastries, breakfast, and tacos. The food had that homemade vibe, and the prices were just right. Our table salsa had a pleasant spice and the guacamole was fresh and simple, which is my favorite. The tacos were on homemade fresh flour tortillas which is hard to find in Austin for some reason. Perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch with friends and family.“

“I wish Wolf and Wheat were open more days!!!You NEED to get the buckwheat brownie. I have never had a brownie that good in my entire life. Buckwheat gives it such a pleasant texture. It’s rich; I would be satisfied with half a brownie. The butter brioche cookie was another winner. Hard not to just eat it in two bites. They also have a third cookie that rotates. It was a strawberry chocolate when we stopped by. There’s also ice cream and an option for an ice cream sandwich.Small but mighty menu!“

“The place looks very clean with a plain and simple decor. It got busy after I arrived in the later morning; the staff was friendly and they handled the customer volume very well. The restroom was out of order, so when I needed it, I was S.O.L. (pun intended). I came only for a donut; I bought one and a coffee. The donut was fair, but nothing to write home about. The coffee was not good. They have a few standard bench tables where you can sit down to eat. They also sell some hot foods like kolaches. There are also two large drink coolers with a fairly large selection of beverages, including milk.“

“I was craving mochi donuts so bad!! Tomas suggested this place so I immediately checked them out. Small local business is a plus! They are currently doing a pop up at Dia's Market on Friday and Saturday. You have the option of pre-ordering your order for pick up. Be sure to check their social media or website to find their location. I ordered the following six flavors to try: strawberry shine, mangonada, ube rainbow, vanilla with crunchy chili oil, birthday cake and classic chocolate. They were soft with a chewy texture...perfect. Flavored beautifully. She provided me the instructions for warming them up for the next day. They were still good the next day. Very fresh and made with quality ingredients. They were all good, but if I had to choose one flavor I really enjoyed the mangonada. Yum! This was definitely a good spot for mochi donuts. Check them out.“

“Best chocolate chip cookies (when warm) in Austin, and really, most anywhere. we have bought the cookie dough twice, most recently earlier today. Very easy to follow instructions and they come out perfect. It is important to let them sit a bit where they will be overly soft. Bought this fudge like cookie/brownie that's also phenomenal (and very dense, in a good way). This place has a variety of cookies, and I believe they also have some hot and cold drinks, but have not tried those yet.Friendly folks at the counter. Inexpensive would not be a word to describe this place, but the cookies are so good, my comment would be "oh well, deliciousness comes at a price sometimes."“

“We came in trying to cut thru the parking lot and deceided to stop in. It was our first time even though we lived in this neighborhood about 12 years ago. When you walk in it smells like bread. They bake everything everyday and when they are out of something it is out. My daughter wanted to try the morning bread but apparently we took too long and it was snatched up. I ended up getting the Spinach Feta Danish which was good. It was the perfect blend of spinach and danish. I didn't think it would mesh but it did. I also got the Caramel Apple Pie which I eat later. My daughter got the Foliage Sausage Bread which she loved. It was soft enough that it didn't mess with her braces and she said it felt she was in another country. She also got the Vanilla Cream Doughnut which she had immediately after the sausage bread and she loved it. I tried it and it was better than any doughnut I have had. I also got the Honey Lavender Matcha Latte and I will say I have tried matcha at a couple places trying to figure it out. I think I found the one I like. It does pick up bc as soon as we got ours the place started picking up. They have tons of seating inside and outside. They offer free wifi but I had no need for it. They have signs advising to that since it is so fresh to eat same day or within a day. I can honestly say that this would be a hike from S Austin that I am willing to take. We will definitely be back so my daughter can get that morning bread and so I can try more.“

“The service at Berdoll's is great! Recommend buying fresh pecan pies, not ones that were previously frozen. The difference in quality is noticeable. Being a small business is difficult. I understand that prices need to be a little higher because of the lower number of customers. However, Berdoll prices are very high. I didn't realize until I checked out that a medium-size package of chocolate-covered pecans cost $40! The common saying in the area and among visiting guests is "Stop and take a free picture with the giant squirrel, but don't go inside to shop unless you have a LOT of money"!“
“I ordered a salted caramel cheesecake for my family and I to enjoy for Thanksgiving. This was truly one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had! The consistency was thick, it was rich and moist, and it tasted strongly of caramel while not being overpowering. I highly recommend you order a cheesecake from Tyler!“

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. My son and his fiance decided to elope, but invite a very few people. This all was happening very quickly, and they live out of town, so I decided my husband and I would do a taste test of chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. You can read below more on our taste test at the bottom of my review, but ultimately, we chose Fat Cats. I ordered a rainbow white vegan cake with vegan buttercream frosting and strawberry compote along with a dozen chocolate vegan cupcakes with raspberry compote. Ordering was easy, communication was great and everyone was so friendly when I picked up. The cake was lovely, but when the bride and groom cut into it and everyone saw the rainbow layers, the 'oooo's' and 'ah's' were epic! Everyone loved both the cake and cupcakes, they were a definite hit. I don't think anything was left on anyone's plates. So, here's more on our taste test. After securing recommendations, checking out Reddit and checking online, I left the house with five places to pick up cupcakes. Fat Cats just happened to be the first I stopped at. Jacquelyn overheard me chatting with her staff and came over to visit with me. She was super friendly and really seemed excited to help make the kids' day great. I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. The second place was closed. The third place only had chocolate vegan cupcakes and said they don't make white vegan cupcakes, so I passed. The fourth place said white vegan cake tends to end up being gummy, but she would make one, so I bought one chocolate vegan cupcake. The fifth place, I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes at another well known vegan place. At home that night, I cut the cupcakes up and we tasted them. I knew immediately I liked the ones from Fat Cats best, but wasn't sure if I was prejudiced because Jacquelyn and her staff was so nice. Hubby said for sure they were the best tasting. The chocolate cupcake we got at the fourth place tasted like it was burnt on top and the frosting was just ok. The cupcakes from the fifth place had frosting that tasted odd, and they were not as fresh tasting. Finally, I might add that I picked up an everything bagel and cream cheese for the bride, and she liked it. It's a cute place! While I'm not personally vegan, if I lived in the neighborhood I think I'd be in here frequently.“
“These are the best empanadas I’ve ever had. Light, airy crust, the meat is juicy, and filling. I’ve been to Spain and Mexico and these are some of the best. Chef had the best recommendations based on my preferences. Even went back for seconds based on her recommendation. The chimichuri was fresh and popping with flavor“

“Such a cute little spot for a brunch - especially on a day where the weather is great! The staff were amazing during today’s visit. No complaints there. Definitely a family friendly location. “This spot was directly in front of our AirBnB and I'm sad we waited to the last day of our trip to try it. The espresso was smooth, the cinnamon roll soft, sweet, and deliciously yeasty, and the savory croissant was all the flaky goodness you want from a pastry. The space is small, but boasts a selection of deli items like curry chickpeas and cucumbers with feta, a full espresso menu, bagels, and a large case of pastry delights.“

“During our visit from out of town, this restaurant quickly became a favorite. The vegetarian Mexican food was solid, and the ambiance was peaceful, with friendly staff. Our orders were quickly taken, and there was minimal wait for our food. The portions were reasonably sized for the price. We also had some gluten-free donuts, which were surprisingly good (gluten-free can be hit or miss). Highlights from our meal included the mole enchiladas, vegan enchiladas, and flautas. “I dropped into Caroline on a Saturday afternoon and pleased to be seated immediately, even without reservations! I can't remember the last time that happened in Austin. Environment: The restaurant is massive! They have a huge outdoor patio on the ground level and tons of indoor seating. I didn't get a chance to explore, but there's also a coffee shop section and rooftop patio. Food: They serve many classic breakfast items, such as Huevos Rancheros, Pancakes, and Biscuits & Gravy. Prices sit around $16-23. Prices seemed fair based on serving sizes and given the downtown location. I opted for simple pancakes. They were really tasty! Fluffy, sweet, and warm! My friend ordered the Enchiladas and enjoyed them! What wasn't great?: Walking into the restaurant there was a noticeable and unpleasant odor. I was able to sit near the kitchen (they had a huge open section so you could see people moving about) and it was a bit distracting to see all the flies moving around. At my table, I kept having to swat away little gnats and things. It wasn't pleasant. Definitely a noticeable downside. All in all, I enjoyed my experience. I hope they can figure out a solution for the bugs. It definitely made we worry about cleanliness.“

“Honestly I really like this place and their drinks. The staff is very friendly. I do find that they run out of certain items a lot and when I ask for them the staff can seem tired out, as though many people have asked the same question, and it can be a bit disheartening. I recently ordered a medium of a drink and I got a small. No problem, they gave me a medium with no problem but just added more ice and less drink. I watched as a good bit was left in my small after filling up a medium. They were very kind and apologetic, I just wish that I got what I paid for.“

“I landed here when my husband swore he saw a Verve Coffee shop when he drove by. I'm a coffee snob and Verve coffee is literally the best of the best (in my opinion). We looked it up and couldn't find anything online. We even called Verve coffee's headquarters and they confirmed that there is no verve coffee shop in Austin. (It's a California company) After some investigation we found out that this is a coffee spot inside of the Capital One bank building! A little different but we went inside anyways. I had a honey lavender latte and it was DEVINE! The barista was super nice. They will try to get you to sign up with them (you get 50% off everything if you are a capital one customer), but they weren't annoying about it or persistent at all. Just very friendly. Kind of a cool concept actually. Anyways we are glad we stoped by. We don't live in Austin but we will be back next time we are in town.“
“Before Door Dash and Grub Hub, there was Tiff's Treats delivering warm cookies to college students in the middle of the night because... DUH. LOOK AT US NOW! If you didn't have a favorite cookie before, now you do, and mine is Double Chocolate Chip (BIG surprise), although their Snickerdoodle is a close runner-up. Walking in is fun because you can à la carte (TRY buying less than half-dozen) which is not allowed on delivery.
