“Firstly, I want to talk about the idea and concept of this restaurant. Vegan mexican food!! Omg so so good.I got the vegan birria taco. It’s my first ever time trying the birria taco concept as I don’t consume beef. I have to say the food was really really good! The only thing I wish though is if the meat was well seasoned it would be TOP NOTCH!I would definitely come here again!“

“This is the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in Austin and probably my first review of a food spot. They are just so good, I felt compelled. In addition to the food being delicious the prices are incredibly inexpensive. $37 for three bahn mi sandwiches, one kimchi fried rice, and a seitan nugget entree is just crazy for Austin. I tipped extra just because I felt like I was stealing. The portion sizes were great as well. This will be my new go to for dinner. Just gotta get there before they close.“

“Small little store.Their cinnamon buns are insane. Super big and shareable. Sweet yummy snack or breakfast bun.Always greeted as soon as I walk in. Friendly service. You just pick your cinnamon bun and they heat it for you. You can tell them not to heat it if you want it for the next day. And it heats well the next day and is still delicious. Haven’t had a bad cinnamon bun. Everything is so good“

“I was there for Zucchini Kill as they share a common area, but I had to stop at Bistro Vonish just to see if I could have anything there. There are covered tables to eat at which is pretty cool. You can see a heater and what could have been a fire pit for when the weather was more cooperative. There was also a black, steel coffin that I was particularly interested in, but I'm not sure what the purpose of it was. It was empty though. Back to the establishment. It's essentially what looks like a cute little food stand and they sell vegan food of the brunch and lunch variety. The 3 places at the corner were painted black (this vegan eatery, a vegan AND gluten free bakery, and a witchcraft type store) giving off a special vibe. We're allium free vegetarians and most plant based eateries tend to use alliums but it was a wet and dreary day so there was no line, though someone had ordered ahead and picked up. What's the harm in asking? I don't have names but the guy was super nice. I was right; most all their food contains alliums, aside from desserts, but he mentioned the Roast Beet sandwich. The tomato aioli had to be taken out and it was substituted by vegan cream cheese for the wet component, but it could be done! Collard greens were another possibility (just remove the shallots), but I opted for just the sandwich. I admittedly didn't know what a panelle was but it's apparently a savory chickpea-based "cake" that's pan fried and it really takes the sandwich to the next level. I didn't get to eat the 'wich until we made it back to the hotel about 30 minutes later, but the beets were great though the larger slices had a slight bite (not raw, but not as tender as the thinner slices). There are what looked like zucchini slices at the bottom that were dyed a bright red from the beets. The ciabatta was wonderfully chewy. I actually liked it quite a bit and shared with my husband. Wish I got a second sandwich, actually. Haha.. what really made it stand out is my husband - who told me award winning pastries in Paris I dragged him to try were just "fine" or "okay" - really liked the sandwich. He especially loved that panelle. He pointed it out and his tone bordered on what could be considered as enthusiastic. If I could have more food here, this place would get 5 stars. As it is, it is a solid choice for our random trips to Austin and I'll be sure to tell my vegan sister about the beet sandwich. Thank you for the wonderful surprise and delicious meal! Parking could be an issue. There is some parking on 2 sides that I can see filling up. Might be nearby street parking as well, but I'm not too familiar with the area to say for sure. In inclement weather, the parking works great, though.“

“Looks run down from outside- like it's hard to tell if they're even open. But once you get inside it's clean and nice. They have an expansive menu, with beef, lamb, veggie options, and a full bar. I've been twice now and both times had excellent food. I recommend the vegetarian combo. They're fast, and the prices are reasonable. Maybe $20/person if you don't order drinks.“

“Come here almost daily when I am in town because it is so good. Best place I’ve found to make a healthy choice over an unhealthy choice for something satisfying and guilt-free. Love the animal-free whey protein in my percolator smoothie. Doesn’t taste chalky or noticeable at all. Great service and atmosphere. Can’t get enough and wish they were also in AZ.“

“The "fish" tacos and vegan burger are phenomenal but everything I've tried has been delicious. They have events during the week too which can be fun, like trivia and stand up comedy. It's a good spot to take friends who don't want to go to an all vegan restaurant.“

“The restaurant turned out to be a hidden gem for us. We ordered hakka noodle dosa (with no onions and no garlic), samsoa and Madurai Malai Dosa and all three items were very authentic tasting and delicious. I typically don't like dosas, but I sincerely enjoyed these. The owners and the team were very nice and willing to work with our restrictions even though they were very busy. Additionally, they are able to make most things vegan and/or Jain which is a blessing for us. Definitely a top restaurant on our list to go to and take family and friends now. A genuinely positive experience for us.Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly, Jain friendly“

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. My son and his fiance decided to elope, but invite a very few people. This all was happening very quickly, and they live out of town, so I decided my husband and I would do a taste test of chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. You can read below more on our taste test at the bottom of my review, but ultimately, we chose Fat Cats. I ordered a rainbow white vegan cake with vegan buttercream frosting and strawberry compote along with a dozen chocolate vegan cupcakes with raspberry compote. Ordering was easy, communication was great and everyone was so friendly when I picked up. The cake was lovely, but when the bride and groom cut into it and everyone saw the rainbow layers, the 'oooo's' and 'ah's' were epic! Everyone loved both the cake and cupcakes, they were a definite hit. I don't think anything was left on anyone's plates. So, here's more on our taste test. After securing recommendations, checking out Reddit and checking online, I left the house with five places to pick up cupcakes. Fat Cats just happened to be the first I stopped at. Jacquelyn overheard me chatting with her staff and came over to visit with me. She was super friendly and really seemed excited to help make the kids' day great. I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. The second place was closed. The third place only had chocolate vegan cupcakes and said they don't make white vegan cupcakes, so I passed. The fourth place said white vegan cake tends to end up being gummy, but she would make one, so I bought one chocolate vegan cupcake. The fifth place, I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes at another well known vegan place. At home that night, I cut the cupcakes up and we tasted them. I knew immediately I liked the ones from Fat Cats best, but wasn't sure if I was prejudiced because Jacquelyn and her staff was so nice. Hubby said for sure they were the best tasting. The chocolate cupcake we got at the fourth place tasted like it was burnt on top and the frosting was just ok. The cupcakes from the fifth place had frosting that tasted odd, and they were not as fresh tasting. Finally, I might add that I picked up an everything bagel and cream cheese for the bride, and she liked it. It's a cute place! While I'm not personally vegan, if I lived in the neighborhood I think I'd be in here frequently.“
