Up ordering the spicy chicken strip dinner with toast and okra. It took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready and it was worth the little wait. The spicy chicken strips had a nice little kick to them and their dipping sauce was a perfect compliment! The toast was nice and buttery and the fried okra was some of the best I have ever had! Highly recommend Gloria Mae's if you're looking for some southern fried goodness!“

My only other critique was the cracked upholstery on the booth benches. Time to reinvest in some upkeep.“

I finally gave them a try May 18, 2021 and I was very satisfied. Rather than fried chicken, I tried the two piece fish with mashed potatoes (no gravy). Basically, it tasted like TeTe Kim's soul food; you know those ladies soliciting to-go plates at the barbershop--like, what she's doing is hella illegal, but everybody flocks to her? That's this: EXTREMELY good. So my order included to pieces of catfish, a cup of mashed red potatoes WITH skins and a roll, piping hot, all for $7.57 including tax. The roll was definitely a generic roll, and the fish frozen. Like I said, the food reminds you of solicited to-go plates. And it was so, so good, in my opinion, definitely a nice lunch spot. So I'll be back there to try some shrimp and eventually some wings.“

“I had an amazing impromptu evening here after a happy hour hop. I stopped by because I heard they have live music on Wednesdays and I'm so happy I did! The atmosphere is very sexy & welcoming & the hostesses were beautiful and friendly. While sitting at the bar like the bar princess I am, I had the pleasure of being taken care of by Roberto the handsome refined bartender. He was the added bonus we needed to end our night. We love fried mushrooms, but these didn't have a lot of flavor. Now the brisket Mac n cheese bites, unfortunately, fell SHORT... ? they were an unpleasant surprise. NO flavor at all. The Pontchartrain dish was ok, just my opinion. I was not mesmerized by the flavor of this dish. The Cajun feast looks delicious but also lacks flavor. The flaming hot Cheeto chicken tenders looked just like the plain chicken tenders. I know because the 2 guests who ordered them sat next to each other. The point is, there was barely any flaming hot Cheeto. My seafood platter was ok. I absolutely LOVED the fried fish on the platter! It was delicious and very crunchy, the shrimp were good, and the fried crawfish tails needed more seasoning in the batter.“

I'm generally not a fan of Pho, but theirs was amazing. The brisket fried rice easily one of the best friend rices I've ever had....... in general all the food we ordered was really very good! The only thing that put me off was the attitude of the waitress who not only behaved like it was a bit of a hassle attending to us - and the very few tables that were occupied - but she literally behaved like she was an owner of the restaurant. At one point I in fact even asked her casually if she was an owner of the restaurant (she wasn't!). Bottomline - this restaurant would do a LOT better if it was in a better location and had more better staff. Many other restaurants have come and gone in this location. As the old adage goes, in the restaurant business, it's all about location, location, location!“

“Pappasito’s has been one of my favorite restaurants in Houston for many years.We have not been to Pappasito's in a while due to their ever increasing prices, but we tried it one more time on last Thursday.It was around 3:00pm. Not many people. The "Hostess" did not want to seat me. I looked around the empty restaurant and asked why she would not seat me and told me the wait would be 20 minutes. I called the manager. And he gave me an excuse that they were short in personnel and I have to wait, instead of seating us and committing to provide a good positive experience regardless as they have always done it. My positive experience has not been the same and they keep raising their prices to a point that it’s ridiculous high. Lunch for three people, a beef quesadilla, two tacos, a small tortilla soup, water and two drinks $40 per person? Something in their management has changed.“

I felt like I was in a movie. My friend had 3 free porkchop dinner coupons. We got a porkchop, salad, and dessert. We didn't get the dessert, so we substituted it for a side or soup. My 13 year old son got the turtle gumbo. When he realized he was actually eating turtles, he cried. The salads were like big dinner salads and the bomb! Once they brought the porkchops out my mouth hit the floor. I have never seen anything so big. It was big and tender. The waiter had to cut the porkchop up. Dinner was AWESOME, DELICIOUS, and FRESH!!! The waitress was AWESOME!!! Oh, the restaurant has bottled wine along the walls. I felt like I was in a modernized wine cellar. I will be back to treat myself. I did order the chicken topped with crab meat...DELICIOUS!!! We all enjoyed ourselves. “This place is awesome! Really great prices and the food is not only good, but very reasonable. I had the Megachelada and it came with 20 shrimp and 2 beers for $19. The Burrito is HUGE and only $8 Also took some of the cajun fried rice home and snacked on that for 2 days. It had everything in it, shrimp, corn, sausage, nd a boiled egg, only $15 Also had to try 2 of their pastor tacos!!! Can't go wrong with those either for a quick snack! The service was great! Very attentive and the food was made fresh. I live in Conroe, but I can tell you I will be back at least every few months to get some of this Awesomely delicious ? food! If they had a few tv's to watch that would have been perfect, but still a great place to eat!“

I have 4 stars for atmosphere because even though it's outside people will smoke no matter where they sit. There should be smoking signs. My daughter and I had to inhale this man's smoke while we were eating. We are outside but his smoke directed at us the entire time.“
