“Service and atmosphere were excellent.
The food did not live up to my expectations of Hong Kong/Cantonese flavors... We found this restaurant through the Eater channel on youtube. After our meal, we decided the food was better described as French cuisine with HK influence. I honestly wanted a little soy sauce and rice vinegar with everything. Umami was largely missing from every dish except the duck noodles.
***The chili oil was delicious, floral with balanced heat.***
Split between 2 people:
-green beans (Fine, good texture, but needed more acid to balance rich sweetness. The topping of pickled anaheims were not enough to balance the entire plate),
-dumplings (gentle truffle flavors and nice sweetness from the espuma, but overall unremarkable)
-scallion pancakes (little to no allium flavor, dough was tough, lacked flakes/delicate texture, lacked salt and acid in the sweet tamarind sauce)
-daikon fritters (overwhelmingly bland and dry, needed a dipping condiment)
-Duck noodles finally had some flavor! (But the duck appeared smoked, closer to pastrami... tasty, but not what I expected from duck noodles at an HK restaurant.)
The wine was good. I did appreciate the selection of natural wines.
Overall we were disappointed based on our expectations for and previous experiences with HK/Cantonese dining. The textures and flavors reminded me of a low sodium, easy to chew menu prioritizing French techniques and flavor profiles.
Table condiments (besides chili oil) would have fixed most of my complaints, but I felt embarrassed to ask based on the atmosphere. I felt that my personal culinary tastes were misaligned with the deeply thoughtful and dining experience.
We were not the target diners for this fine establishment, but I recognize the passion, excellence, and personal intention behind every design and culinary choice at Queen's English.“

“The new space is super cute and the dumplings are just as tasty as ever! When we went, the vegetarians and meat-eaters in the group both loved "Livin' on the Vedge". Also super affordable and filling - 2 thumbs up!“

“The moment you walk in, you realize that this place is special. From the attentive and courteous hosts to the richly-appointed intimate seating that is at once welcoming and comfortably exclusive, you instantly feel at home. Eli and the team do a fantastic job of ensuring that your food and drink orders are well-timed and as you request. The food is consistently great, and the richness of the flavors and brilliant, unpretentious presentations are always something to look forward to. This is a team that aims to meet or exceed your expectations. Astoria is one of the rare gems in the midst of Logan and DuPont Circles - and of DC writ large - that is a must-do when in town. If you can’t decide where to dine, you can always count on Astoria DC for approachable and affordable Szechuan cuisine and fun, creative cocktails for all your friends and family, and for all occasions.“

“This place is great! I got the spicy beef noodle soup and my wife got the scallop and pork soup dumplings and pan-friend pork buns and everything was very much to our liking. The broth was good, the pork buns were perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and qq on the inside, and the soup dumplings were CRAZY savory. I have no idea how they got the dumplings to be a punch of umami, but they did it!
The prices weren't crazy and the service was attentive but not overbearing. We also got the classic milk tea with boba and a mango-pineapple refresher and those were both good as well, though the food I think was better. Also, the menu recommended 50% sweet but we thought that even the 75% wasn't too sweet and the 50% on my refresher felt a little low.“

“Our food didn't take long to arrive, when we got it is was extremely delicious, they were very welcoming and kind to our big group of people and I would love to visit again in the future(I don't live in this state). I ordered the shrimp Tempura and the Strawberry boba and it was delicious, everyone else also had positive things to say about their meals. Overall I really enjoyed my time here and I have no complaints 💜😊“

“This was a great authentic Cantonese restaurant. I have been a frequent visitor since their soft opening. It is a bit sad that they are slowly switching menu to accommodate broader tastes, e.g. by including American-Chinese food and adding Sichuan style dishes. This is understandable given the demographics of the neighborhood and the market demand, but I do notice that the quality fluctuates for some skill-sensitive Cantonese dishes (e.g. 干炒牛河). It is also disappointing that the chicken in 啫啫煲 has been replaced with boneless chicken, which again is understandable to accommodate customers who don't like bone-in chicken, but that's just not how this dish is supposed to be made.
On the flip side of the menu changes, I like that they have added the Typhoon-style Lobster and Peking duck (I don't actually know why in the US many Cantonese restaurant offer Peking duck; maybe as a simple variation of HK-style roast duck.).
Overall, I hope this restaurant will flourish while maintaining its authentic taste and high standards!“
“Came here on the day after July 4, the wait-list seemed long but they went by fast! Service was quick and professional. Food is good as usual (I've been to other locations before).
I remember hearing about the lines to eat here so get take out“

“Was served by Daniel, the best server in DC and had an exceptional time with my husband here before america 250 July 4th, ate some of the most delicious dumplings paired with some great hot sake 😋 left with full bellys. Fun interior with a drum set on the second floor, can't wait for the second floor to open up.“

“I’ve ordered three times here since Nov 2025, and the halal indication is what made me curious to try the place. I’m happy Hunan Cafe is in the neighborhood! The food is good and clean, meat portions generous, the white rice that comes as a side was fragrant and tasty. I’m not left second guessing my order unlike other Chinese take out spots that can be too oily or use too much MSG. The service is reliable and friendly.
More details: I’ve placed over the phone with no issue and have ordered using the kiosk. They securely pack the takeout. I’ve earned a reward through Toast, the ordering app. There’s plenty of space to eat-in, if you’d like. I haven’t had an issue with parking, it’s a strip / plaza lot shared with other businesses. Dishes I’ve tried: spicy chicken wonton, lo mein, Taiwan noodle with veggie, Szechuan beef, and La Zhi chicken.“

“The streamed pork and chive dumplings from Dumplings and Beyond were authentic and the Ma Po To Fu was not. Based solely on my delivery order, both dishes were delicious. The plethora of sauces that accompanied the dumplings was very appreciated. The filling was flavorful with plenty of ginger and lacked any gristly leftovers while the wrapper was tender and perfectly cooked. The Ma Po To Fu was delicious and spicy. However, it lacked Szechuan peppercorn which give it the spicy, tingly flavor typically found in this dish. It also lacked pork. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, especially the dumplings, and am eager to visit in person.“

“Food was excellent! We went on a Friday night and it wasn't very busy, but with a holiday weekend people may be out of town
Dishes were large, hot, and fresh. Only thing I wish was different was that there was an iPad for ordering. However, servers stopped by multiple times to check in.“

“I found the food and service to be good here. It's a modest restaurant that could do with a better atmosphere, but the prices are good for Chinatown and the staff were very nice and helpful.
All of the food was served in plastic containers, which is helpful for takeaway food, but it's not eco-friendly for a dine in meal. This is something I would highly recommend they change for the better.“

“Fantastic business lunch at NiHao! Had a group of four and we were thoroughly impressed by both the food and the efficiency. Every dish we ordered - from the salt and pepper shrimp to the beef chow fun - was fresh, full of flavor, and enough for leftovers. It is great to find a lunch spot that is quick, and reasonably priced.
Our waiter, Scott made the experience seamless. He was on top of everything, guiding us through the menu, keeping our water filled, and clearing dishes quickly so we could focus on our meeting - we were worried that we ordered too much but Scott told us that his mom says “If you go to a Chinese restaurant and don’t have leftovers, you didn’t order enough”. We will be back!“

“I placed a pick up order over the phone and staff was super nice and food was ready on time. The prices are also super reasonable for the amount of food you get. I’m going to give individuals ratings of everything I got below, but we ordered General Tsos, sweet-and-sour chicken and shrimp, shrimp egg foo young, beef and broccoli, combination lo mein, beef teriyaki sticks, egg rolls, crab cheese wontons, egg drop soup, and fried beef dumplings.
General Tsos: 4.5/5, had the exact flavor I’m looking for in this dish, but could have been a little spicier. They got a little soggy from the condensation, but still delicious.
Sweet and sour chicken and shrimp: 4/5, chicken and shrimp both had good flavor, but there were some pieces that were dry and hard like they were a bit old, but the softer pieces were really good and I like that they put the sauce on the side.
Shrimp egg foo young: 5/5, this was our first time trying this dish and we will definitely get it again. This had really good flavor and so did the gravy.
Beef and , the broccoli and meat were fine, but the sauce is missing something. It just didn’t have the flavor I’m used to and will not order again.
Combination lo mein: 5/5, pretty standard Chinese food lo mein but we had no issues with it and flavor was good.
Beef teriyaki sticks: 1/5, my mom really liked these, but I hated them. The flavor kind of reminds me of beef jerky, which is weird in a fresh meat item.
Egg rolls: 3/5, not the best I’ve had but passable. The taste is just a bit bland. They taste better dipped in the sweet and sour sauce.
Crab cheese wontons: 1/5, I already knew I wasn’t going to like them when I saw they were triangle shaped instead of the ones with the four points (iykyk). There was too much wonton and not enough filling in the filling itself had like no flavor.
Fried beef dumplings: 5/5, these were basically gyoza and flavor was pretty good.
Egg drop soup: 5/5, exactly the flavor I want in egg drop soup.
Although we didn’t love everything, the service, the prices, and the fact that we liked the majority of the items, I feel like they deserve five stars. Will definitely come back for my next Chinese food craving.“

“We love Szechuan-style Chinese food, and this spot was a great find. It was casual, clean, and fast, with excellent quality and generous portions. The pork stir-fry in garlic sauce and flash-fried green beans with pickled cabbage were both super flavorful and paired really well together. The shrimp lo mein was delicious too. Overall, it was a great meal, and we’d definitely come back.“

“We've been eating here for over 20 years and it has always been good. It is recently under new management and the way some items are prepared has changed, but still very tasty -- just a new twist on an old favorite. The one thing the new management needs is someone who knows their way around a bar. The people there this week had a very limited range of knowledge about drinks (gin on the rocks got a blank look), but once you explained they happily made a very acceptable drink.“

“The food at Peter Chang’s is incredibly flavorful and delicious. I ordered the Bamboo Fish and fried pork dumplings, and both were truly excellent. “I had an amazing experience at Peking Express! The food was absolutely delicious—everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really tell they care about quality. The portions were generous, and every bite hit the spot.
What made the visit even better was the service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right. It’s the kind of place where you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in.
If you’re looking for great Chinese food with excellent service, this spot is definitely worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back!“
“What a great spot! I was traveling through and just barely found this incredible locations and was greeted with a wide variety of delicious drinks. I wanted to come back but didn’t think I ever would be lo and behold I was back three days later. The girls taking orders and making drinks were highly accommodating for my obnoxious needs. I loved the Matcha Latte. I also LOVED the iced Jasmine. So freaking good.“

“Lived in Bethesda for 50 years, now in Bend, OR--where good Chinese food is non-existent. On numerous visits back home, I've patronized Foong Lin with high school buddies--and it always delivers the goods. “I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and authenticity of some of the classic dimsum dishes such as the shrimp dumpling and charngfun. We ordered about 25 small plates between 3 people (including desert) and we were stuffed! Some items tasted a bit too experimental and did not satisfy the classic Cantonese flavor profile that I’m used to. Some were really good! I grew up eating authentic Cantonese dim sum in Los Angeles and have tried amazing eating dim sum in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. In the DMV area, we have limited dim sum options - so this place will do when I crave dim sum! The service and atmosphere were really nice. Total rating is 4.5 stars.“

“My new neighborhood go to place for Chinese food. I've been looking for a place since Tsim Yung closed on 12th Street a while back. I'm not a Chinese food connoisseur but this meets my test for good weekend comfort food with reasonable prices and good portions. Location is sketchy but the kitchen area looks remarkable clean and open for a fast food joint. Ordered pork fried rice twice and added Szechuan Beef on the second trip. They didn't disappoint. Would definitely recommend. Staff is friendly and efficient.“

“First time visiting Wonder Cleveland Park as a tourist, and I wasn’t sure what to expect or how to order. John was really helpful and walked us through the different menus and the self-ordering setup. I liked that you can order from multiple restaurants all in one place, which makes it perfect for indecisive groups or people who all want different things. One person can get a salad, another can get a burger, and someone else can grab pizza, all in the same order. We tried the lime salt and Royal Greens, and it was a great experience overall.“

“There is always a place in our hearts for the easy asian takeout restaurant, and this has taken the role from the 3 others we kept drifting between. “Top quality Chinese food!!! Wow- don’t judge this well-hidden gem by its cover. While it doesn’t look like much on the outside, the quality here is unbeatable! We dined in and had the best Chinese food that we’ve had in the area! The food was fresh and seasoned exceptionally well. The recipes are genuine and hearty. The gentleman who appears to own and run the establishment is incredibly kind and so attentive. We called asking about orange chicken, decided not to order it, but he gave us a dish on the house to try it anyways!“

“Great place for a quick bite. Very small inside but most people just grab food and go so there was room to sit down and eat. Went during lunch time and all the food looked fresh and it was delicious. Ended up going with two plates to share. Walnut shrimp and mushroom chicken with rice...and noodles with orange chicken and teriyaki chicken, all were very good and very tasty.“
