“I came to Arlington for a business trip from Atlanta. I've been to the Ballston Food Court several times since I visit frequently. First time at Hal & Als and I ordered the brisket sandwich. the cashier who I assume is the owner was telling me about who he learned to make ribs from down in Atlanta. he was so hospitable too. he asked me to let him know what I thought. I completely forgot. everything was great. halal BBQ is a little different but it blew me away. I'll def revisit when I'm in Arlington again.“

“Old Blue catered my daughters wedding. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. Old Blue has the best BBQ food in the greater DC area - so, that would be enough to recommend them - however, if you are planning an event, you will not believe the quality of the service they offer. Everyone was helpful, had great suggestions, they even shared decorations with us. The day of the wedding was also perfect - they were attentive and seemed to anticipate every need. Again, they would be worth it just for the food, but they perfect because of everything else.“

“Really good and different! Had the short-rib pastrami and it was fantastic!! Great taste, perfect texture, and the mustard sauce was the perfect compliment. Their house pickled veggies added a really nice touch. The deviled eggs are not to be missed! Smoky, but not overbearingly so. The wife had the pastrami spiced portobello and was very impressed. Guys in the truck were super nice and very patient. They were out front of Baby Cat brewery in Kensington the day we went by. Will be keeping track of where they're going to be - will definitely return!!“

“We are from Buffalo NY down here on vacation. The host was absolutely amazing we sat at a high top by the bar and he came over and offered to move us to a bigger table so we had more room!! The bartender was our server and he was so attentive and on top of everything. They had a large school party that had about 50 people in it and they did not let that slow them down at all. At the end of that party we ended up speaking with one of the owners and he was so nice! We ended up finding out the host had family from where we are from and that was awesome! The food was amazing, portions were huge! Moral of the story the whole staff was amazing the food came out with perfect timing even with the huge party. Pricing, food, friendliness all worth it here they were amazing“

“My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine’s Day to celebrate our anniversary and ordered the $89 menu. Overall, we had a really nice experience. The wagyu and oysters were amazing, and the drinks were so good. The desserts were honestly some of the best I’ve had at any KBBQ spot, which really stood out to me.

We had about two or three different servers helping us, but the Asian woman who mainly took care of our table was especially great. She was super kind, attentive, and made sure we got everything we needed. She really helped make the night feel special.

The only downside was that the food took a while to come out between courses. At one point it seemed like one of our dishes might have been taken to the wrong table or forgotten. It did not seem like it was her fault though as it was a different server who took the order.“

We loved this place when it opened and we went weekly all last year. But they completely changed the menu for the Del Ray location when they opened their Mosaic location and it’s not the same. What really irks me is that they still use photos from their old menu in all of their marketing when it doesn’t match what they’re serving. The menu changes really don’t mesh with the outdoor vibe of the Del Ray location and it really takes away from the experience.

The combo plates and smaller tacos on the old menu were the perfect for sharing and trying a bunch of everything. They also had some great menu items they removed, including the mac and cheese that was mentioned by WaPo as one of the best in the city.

Now, instead of getting a combo platter and selecting sides that come on a platter you have to choose one meat and it comes on a personal plate with rice and beans, as if it’s a sit down Tex Mex restaurant instead of something unique. We already have four of those within walking distance of the Del Ray spot. Another change they made is that when you order a taco, you get one larger taco instead of two smaller tacos that can be shared. The menu doesn’t specify that, and we were expecting something different because we were used to the old menu. I ordered the fish taco, which sounded great, but was really bland.

The changes are a real disappointment. I used to love recommending this place to friends, and the meat is still great, but I feel like this place has lost what made it special wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to eat here.

Editing to adjust this downward. We tried to give this place a few more chances over the summer and after last night we are not coming back. Start to finish, it was a really awful experience. We waited at an empty hostess stand for several minutes before we saw anyone and then sat at our table for fifteen minutes before anyone showed up. We never got water. Only two of the five items we ordered came out correctly. The food was cold and honestly just kind of gross. We saw our server twice the entire time we were there and watched someone who ordered takeout return their order because half of it was missing. Whoever is running this place just doesn’t care about it anymore. It’s really sad. We used to love it here but it’s just awful.“

“We’ve eaten at The Falls for both date nights and family outings and were extremely impressed every time. I was excited to hear they also do catering! We called The Falls, spoke to Kelly and she was super helpful, communicative and helped with everything from how much food would be appropriate for our size event and how many staff would be recommended. We had our annual Santa party with 190 people and everyone was super impressed with the food quality, the attentive staff and how friendly and courteous they were. They left my house cleaner than before the party and even boxed up some left overs for us to enjoy. They’re a true blessing and made our party one we’ll remember for years! “I went there today for a nice lunch date and I requested to get all the food gluten free. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about what was gluten free on the menu and made sure to bring out the salads and explain which one was which. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the pargiyot skewer but was not personally a fan of the lam kebab flavor. When the waiter came over and asked how everything was, I told him everything was great. He saw I had not eaten the lamb and asked me about it. Im not a complainer so I said it just wasn’t my taste. Well, when we brought us the check, he only charged us for the pargiyot and comped the lamb! I am blown away by my experience at Al Ha’esh. Excellent customer service and food! 👍“

“My wife and I came here for the first time and were seriously impressed. The service is next level, the staff is incredibly attentive, and even compared to other Korean BBQ spots that cook and cut the meat for you, the attention to detail here is just that extra 5% better.

The quality of the meat is easily the best we’ve had at any Korean BBQ in Northern Virginia. The sides also stood out, especially the crunchy potato (kind of like a hash brown), which we highly recommend. And the sauces are hands down the best we’ve had anywhere.

We were new to the restaurant and the server took time to answer all our questions with great detail about the menu. Food came out fresh and piping hot. “Hesitated to try this place because of some of the reviews. Our second time dining here and both times it was pretty good. The pulled pork was moist and the fries, loaded potato salad and slaw were good. Service was quick. The hog sauce is kind of like a Kansas City sauce. There are also mustard and vinegar sauces.Toasting the buns for the sandwiches would be a welcome addition. Our two lunches of a sandwich and side each and a tip was only $30.I recommend this place for a quick BBQ meal.“

“I’ve ordered from them many times and every time the food is amazing. I’ll usually switch between the Caesar salad, a build your own bbq bowl, and the sausage tacos as my main dishes. All of which I love. Their fried pickles are usually pretty good though a little on the softer side and I just had the mozzarella sticks today and it came with a wing sauce that tasted, not just felt, spicy but not overpoweringly so. They were firm enough that I’m not choking on cheese but soft enough that it didn’t feel like I was biting into a cheese stick. They were some of the best mozzarella sticks I’ve had in a while. I will have to actually go in to the restaurant at some point instead of always ordering delivery. 😁“
