“If you are looking for great sushi in Arlington, you need to try Sushi Garden. The miso was full-bodied, the rolls were fresh and well-structured, and the prices were reasonable. I have found my place for great sushi in Rosslyn. The menu is slightly limited (no gyoza or shumai), but what they have is excellent! I wish I had tried them sooner. You have to look for it next to Royal Barber, but it is worth the trip.“

“The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.

We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!

Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.

We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.

“The nigiri was wonderful! I really loved the aburi sushi. It was my first time trying it and they had lots of options. Punches way above its weight in terms of quality for price. Modest storefront with an inviting ambience when you get inside. Will definitely be back.“

“My second visit, and the first one for two companions, we went for lunch. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet but not overly so. The staff greeting at the door is very pleasant, with smiles all around. Takumi offers specials for lunch, for $16-$18, including a Sushi one. The specials are served on a beautiful dark wooden tray, which includes the appetizer (salad or miso soup), a choice of 4 main courses (I enjoyed both Don, a bowl or rice with either eel or chirashi, a mix of raw fish; also on offer is a shrimp tempura, and the third dish is a nigiri sushi roll, (choice of 4). With this comes a small tray with three compartments, one with a salad (I had squid once and seaweed once), two and a piece of soft tofu in a slightly sweet syrup to wrap up the meal. The a la carte menu is very tempting as well, and the special rolls are delicious. All fish is flown fresh from Japan, and included Hokkaido uni (sea urshin) which was wonderful. All around, a lovely experience. We will be back!“

“I finally had the chance to experience Sushiko's omakase, and I only wish I had gone sooner because it was absolutely incredible. Our sushi chef was wonderful and incredibly accommodating; it was clear he genuinely wanted our food to be perfect and our experience to be positive. Although the omakase is priced at $140 per person and was supposed to be a fourteen-course meal, we received more than fourteen courses. That extra surprise made the price feel easy to justify.

A tip for those planning on coming for the omakase who want to save a little on drinks is to arrive slightly early and grab beverages in the bar area, as the omakase tasting takes place during their happy hour (which runs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). You do have to close your tab at the bar and move to the sushi counter, but we were able to bring our drinks over without any problem.“

“I reserved omakase through Resy. My husband and I got seated right when we arrived. Our lunch omakase had 10 pieces and we ordered a la carte because the skip jack and uni were so delicious. Each fish was so flavorful and the texture was perfect. I will definitely be back for their dinner omakase one day. The Brooklyn Kura sake paired well with the fish.“

“Amazing sushi! I've tried Kusshi, kura Sushi, and Uzu Sushi in the Rockville area and was not impressed with their quality at all. However, Sushi Toro is always consistent with their quality especially for their price. The sushi tastes amazing and fresh, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. Easily the best sushi I've had in Rockville. Highly recommend!“

“Sushi and appetizers were top notch. Service was prompt and attentive. Of the 3 all you can eat sushi I've been to in the NoVa area, this was the best. I really liked the tuna, Tokyo mami roll, bolgogi, and gyoza.

My only feedback is I wish you could get more than one piece of the tuna belly on the all you can eat. That cut was insanely good.

The table service was good, but the rest of the service was mediocre. The food itself does feel overpriced for the quality, only a few select items were notable. Really not a destination for sushi or sashimi. Nothing they are doing terribly wrong per se, just nothing to write home about.“

We recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt to find a go-to sushi spot. I think we found it! Portions were great, price was fair, and it felt great supporting a local business over all the chains around Rockville and Bethesda. A couple chefs and one super friendly woman serving the food.

This isn’t the place you go to for a full on dining experience with fancy/expensive cocktails. Because the majority of their business is takeout, everything was served out of to-go containers. As long as you don’t have issues with this, as we didn’t, you’ll enjoy it.

Got there early for dinner and was seated right away. I love that they offered the Japanese skewers. We ordered pork belly, beef, and shrimp. All were amazing! We wish we ordered more of them. Also ordered the Gyoza that had pork and chicken in them. They were good but the ponzu sauce wasn’t the best. I ordered the Sake Don which was raw salmon with seasoned sushi rice. It was really good and filling. This restaurant makes a great date night and the staff were nice.“
