“My significant other and I came here for a late Valentines celebration and had the most amazing time. The food was incredible and the staff, specifically Marissa and Zach, was top notch. We will be back very soon and we highly recommend The Stables to others.“
“Dinner at Alewife was the highlight of our five-day visit to Richmond. First off, it was a relief to get out of downtown Richmond with its huge empty parking lots, boarded up storefronts and deserted streets. The historic Church Hill section, with its 19th century row and other houses and interesting looking restaurants and shops, was such a pleasant change. Parking near Alewife was a bit of a challenge, but we quickly found a spot just a block away. The restaurant itself has a fascinating vibe, part friendly neighborhood spot and part disarmingly upmarket dining room. You just knew the food would be interesting, and it was. We started with a gin and tonic and a non-alcoholic beer. The menu is fairly short and apparently changes nightly, or at least frequently.I would never in this world think that I would enjoy an appetizer of raw oysters, bright green pickle juice, creme fraiche and fresh dill. But it was an amazing flavor combination. My partner's appetizer was equally interesting -- lox on thick, toasted rustic bread. As mains, we had the arctic char, with grilled carrots, and the skate, both perfectly prepared and delicious. Service throughout the meal was just right -- friendly, attentive but not overly so. Our charge for two, including tip, was around $150, well worth the price. Thank you for a great meal experience!“
“Unique spot offering a taste of what’s good in this world. Got the hava nagila dilla (turkey Reuben) and villa dilla (chicken carbonara), nacho problem, and fresh-pressed lemonade (half sugar). Nachos are faster than dillas — could treat nachos like an app if you are dining in. Dillas had the PERFECT crisp and really thoughtful ingredient combos — felt like a more nutritious, sandwich-like quesadilla. Lemonade took me back to my childhood.“
“Too full to go into too much detail but this food is so good I will be thinking about it for sometime. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a meal like that so I must return. If I stayed in the restaurant I may have exploded. Everything… and I do mean all elements of the dishes… were exceptional. They were super busy as well (convention in town) and service was incredibly kind.“
“Attended the Wade Cellars wine tasting hosted here by Chef Mike Lindsey and it was phenomenal. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but very well put together, inviting, and has charm.I haven't tried menu items from Jubilee yet, but after this experience, we will definitely be back!“
“Great service and atmosphere.Food was disappointing. Chips and guac were good, but the tacos (beef brisket and carnitas) were not good. Very dry and void of flavor.Bummer, had high hopes for this placeUpdate:The general manager reached out and offered a $25 gift card. Thanks so much, I’ll be back!“
“We came here for happy hour and I could taste that they used a good tequila in the margarita it was so good. I was going to get the firecracker shrimp but they had some Reuben sandwiches left from Saint Patties Day so we both had them and we weren’t disappointed! It came on marbled bread and the corned beef was sweet and tender with no gristle. Shout out to Brendan and DeAndre for excellent service! It was my BFF’s birthday dinner and they sent over a yummy chocolate cake for her. Thank you. Also, shout out to the chef as she really knows how to cook corned beef — it really was delectable.Edited to add that the beet tower with goat cheese was awesome!“
“This place is a hidden gem. The food was wonderful. I truly was not expecting it to be that good. Everything was nice and hot. I didn't have to ask for salt and pepper or extra syrup. The waffles and the French toast melted in my mouth. The chief is truly cooking with love. And the service was great as well. Hands down a 10/10!!“
“I love coming here. Service is always great and their food is good. However they recently took the mushroom gnocchi off the menu which was one of the best vegetarian meals this city has to offer, swear to god I think about it in my sleep. They replaced it with a vegetable meal that is just hot mushy unseasoned veggies. It made me so so so wildly sad. The mushroom gnocchi had layers of flavors and this replacement….. well it’s just sad.“
“Stopped by for Sunday brunch and this place was packed! We managed to get a spot by the bar and I'm so glad we did because the food was phenomenal. I got the Eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes and the potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! My husband got the chicken and waffles which came out piping hot and fresh, I got a taste and definitely preferred my choice! Customer service was great and they have a nice patio outside for nicer weather. I feel like I missed out and should have ordered a carrot cake slice to go because it looked divine and all the other reviews mention it. Don't miss out!“
“I love everything about this place! Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the country benedict, which was outstanding. My husband ordered the chesapeake benedict, which was also amazing. The home fries were great and the serving size of the cold brew was more than enough for one person. Service is great, we were there for hours and were not rushed even once. The atmosphere is relaxed and dimly lit. Best part of all is that we barely had a wait time on a Sunday at noon. The menu has something for everyone. Will be returning.“
“Always fresh and delicious. Their avacados are always ripe and green. Flavors are always a hit. My go to spot and I dont think there is anything remotely comprable that I have ever come across. This is what one hopes sweetgreen could be like but is nowhere close in quality. Do yourself a favor and try Goatacado.“
“We had a reservation for a larger group on a Thursday night. The small restaurant was busy but our table was ready on time, it just took quite a while to get drinks and food ordered and then service after we got our food. Otherwise everything was absolutely flavorful and delicious. They really know what they’re doing! Portions are massive so come hungry or dine with friends.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian pasta and pizza options were great! The mushrooms are especially delicious in various dishes.“
“This is newly opened and looks great! I like the Sliding Hill location so this was a nice change of pace and a bit closer to home6pm was packed but we got seated in 10 minutes and the hostess was very pleasant and helpfulService was quick even though it is crowdedThe decor is new and well done So nice to go to a local joint that looks like the owners care$8 Guinness is a bit steepThe sweat potato tots are really good.I really like the layout and selection of foodThe staff is enthusiastic and careful and very politeOnly real draw back is it is LOUD!! Really really really LOUD! We had to lean in on a table for two to hear each other. Each table is so LOUD with their yelling because it is so LOUD. OMG. So much hard scape that they must soften the walls to break the echo.We love the idea but will rethink a return“
“The atmosphere is one of those that you have to experience for yourself. If felt like just me and my wife where there. The service was right on time and didn't miss a beat. And Ohhhhh my goodness the food has me thinking about our next reservation lol.“
“Wonderful experiene overall. The rockfish was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive, and provided excellent service. Joe was also a great example of the high quality staff you’d expect at such a historic establishment. Look forward to coming back!“
“First off.....this place is tiny so no parties over 4.....but there's also a nearby park if your group wants to order and eat there. I've done this on a nice day before. The variety of options here is outstanding. I've tried several sandwiches here and have never left unhappy. Most recently I had the Manny, the Teacher, the Scribe and chicken Salad. I would get them all again but the menu is so vast I'm always compelled to try something new. Most recently Kiki took care of us and was great suggesting something new. Keeping this one in the rotation!“
“I can’t say enough good things about Grandstaff & Stein. Awesome moody atmosphere that seeps speakeasy vibes. Eclectic cocktails that might make you question (mushroom infused whiskey?) but leaves you pleasantly surprised and wanting to try another unique drink. I have only had appetizers here, all of which have been wonderful, but their main courses look excellent as well.“
“Laura Lee's has become our absolute favorite spot in the neighborhood, and it's our top choice for both date nights and entertaining out-of-town guests. The restaurant has consistently exceeded our expectations, making it a go-to option for creating memorable experiences. One standout feature that sets Laura Lee's apart is their exceptional accommodation for dietary restrictions. As someone with gluten sensitivity, I appreciate the effort they put into ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to assist in tailoring dishes to meet specific dietary needs or address food allergies.Hands down, they boast the best cocktails on the Southside. The mixologists here are true artists, crafting unique and flavorful concoctions that never fail to impress. Each sip is a delightful journey through a symphony of tastes, and the presentation is equally as impressive. Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for a refreshing drink, Laura Lee's has something for everyone.Service at Laura Lee's is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a positive dining experience. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave, you feel well taken care of.“
“Best restaurant in RVA, hands down. $45 for three courses of this quality is a steal. The vibe is immaculate.Word of caution - if you're insufferable and high maintenance you probably won't like it here. The staff are allowed to actually have a personality and aren't your serfs for the duration of the meal. If you're cool they'll be cool, so be cool.“
“I love this cart! It's right on the VCU Health campus M-F during lunch hours so it's convenient for me to go on a quick run while I'm at work. The people are friendly and the food is awesome. I always get the chicken salad, sesame noodles and cheese wedge. Generous proportion for less that $9. Highly recommend it!“
“I had a great time at River City Roll! I was able to easily make a reservation online. When we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the basket with our shoes and the whole check-in process was super easy. This was my first time playing Hyperbowl and it was super fun! What a cool twist on bowling. I was having so much fun and the staff was able to fit in an extra 30 minutes for us to finish out game. The food was served in a timely manner and it was very yummy. If you're looking to bowl in RVA this is the place to go!“
“I got the country fried steak, collards, and spoonbread. I was really excited to see spoonbread on a menu and it definitely met my expectations. The meal basically tasted like my mom made it, and the price was crazy good-- like $16 for so much food I couldn't finish it. Also had a martini with garlic olives which were so delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here.“
“This place is really cute. If you have ever been to the to the other side of the world, this place truly reminds you of it. Atleast it did for my husband and I. We ate pok pok wings, lemongrass soup, and pineapple stir fry. All were delicious! The drinks were awesome too. They had exotic mocktails and different cocktails than any other restaurant we had ever been to. The waitress was very sweet and everyone was pleasant there. It was also very affordable. I highly recommend going here for dinner!“
“I ate here last week. Not as good as I remembered, but still pretty good. Shrimp and grits were, good, not the best, but not bad 3.7 out of 5. Happy hour drinks were just okay too, the Paloma. I don't think I'll return anytime soon.“
“Amazing service, great food, wonderful atmosphere. Live music on Sunday was a little loud and our party found ourselves almost yelling at each other to be heard but it was still an overall great experience. Many thanks to staff who made this birthday so special!“
“Been a while since i visited 821 Cafe & today I decided to come in for lunch.I was immediately greeted and quickly placed my to go order. She made my drink right on the spot and the food was ready within minutes.I decided to get a Greek salad as I usually am here for the breakfast! They did not disappoint and the size was great for the price. I got the small portion(pictured below). It's very fulfilling, smells and tastes fresh!“
“Nice dive bar!! Laid back atmosphere, brought kids for supper, and the food was really good. The only downside is to make sure you look at the back wall for the specials. Lol saw it after we ordered. Ordered the body bag Johnny burger really good! We will certainly be back again!“
“I truly love Waffle House and they can never steer me wrong but this visit was like no other!! Joel and Jason put their entire heart and soul into my meal, it was literally the best WH meal I have ever had. Additionally, the service was spectacular!! This is also a very clean location. This is now my favorite Waffle House! I didn't grab pics of my food, that's how good it was!!“
