“There’s a reason Haidilao has become so successful around the world. Even after establishing itself as a leader in the hot pot industry, they never seem to stop innovating. Every time I visit, there’s something new.

But what truly sets Haidilao apart from everyone else is the level of service. And it’s not something that can simply be described as “professional” or “friendly.” There’s a unique culture here that makes you feel like you’re coming home when you walk through the door — happy, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Many restaurants can provide high-quality, professional service. But that feeling of being completely embraced by a warm, joyful atmosphere, and being genuinely looked after, is something I’ve only experienced at Haidilao.

Over time, I’ve come to remember the names of many of the staff here. But two people I especially want to remember and thank are the managers, Kid and Vivian.

I’ve seen them handle the restaurant under intense pressure and keep everything running efficiently and smoothly. I’ve also seen how they respond when unexpected problems arise — staying calm and flexible, communicating clearly, and finding ways to resolve the situation. They have an excellent eye for detail, strong judgment, and the ability to make good decisions in challenging moments.

And a special thank-you to Kid. To us, you’ve become much more than a restaurant manager — you feel like family. We’ll keep coming back, again and again. And I genuinely recommend that everyone experience Haidilao for themselves — not only for the food, but for the unique culture and warmth that make this restaurant truly one of a kind.“

“The peppery pork belly and chicken soup is rich, rich in ingredients and has a high Cp value. The salty crispy chicken is juicy and fragrant. The waiter Yvonne sincerely recommends it. The service is super great!!!

“Really excellent shop. They very clearly take pride in the food they serve and it shows. The house made noodles are fantastic, and the owner showed us how the filled dumplings were best enjoyed. Great food and an owner that really cares about the quality of her food. We will 100% be coming back when we are in Burnaby next.“

“Haven’t been here in a while. Feels like this place has been around since the pandemic.

Clean, bright, and you can pick your own ingredients. The selection is smaller than Big Way, but still decent.

The mala dry pot came to about $57 — enough for roughly a meal and a half, though still a bit pricey. Probably over $30 per person for a full meal.

Ice cream is comparable to Big Way, though not as good as Dollar Shop. Members get 30% off on Tuesdays, and weekday afternoons come with a complimentary drink.

Overall, the food is pretty average by Vancouver standards, but there’s usually no wait and the environment is nice.“

“A new Chinese restaurant in Burnaby and located in Brentwood mall. Because it’s a new restaurant, the dining area is bright (lots of windows) and clean and the tables aren’t overly crowded.

We went for dim sum. The food is very good. Not overly seasoned, nice fresh flavours. Presentation is very nice. The duck shaped mango pudding is unique. The portions are a bit on the average size compared to other dim sum restaurants. You order ala carte and they bring out the dishes to you, on this day the kitchen seemed a bit slow even though it wasn’t that busy in the restaurant (Friday morning at 11). Prices are on the high side but is expected for a higher end Chinese restaurant like this.“

“If you’re at Crystal Mall and don’t know what to eat, try this place. The fish soup base is amazing, the fish is super fresh, and the price is great. definitely worth it.

They also have so many different options to choose from.“

“This is my favourite hotpot place to go to, I crave it almost every single week! My parents have been going here since my oldest sister was born and have been taking me since I was a kid, this place is truly amazing and will forever be my favourite comfort meal spot in vancouver. Staff are very kind and I have never had a bad interaction here. Highly recommend the kimchi hot pot which is my go to!“

“So....If you are looking for a quality sushi to eat and you don't not care about a fancy place with a amazing view, you should visit Hong sushi. Food was delicious, service was great, price was fair. Support them please. Best regards guys. Kris.“

“Maruhachi Ra-men is a great spot if you’re looking for fantastic ramen. We really enjoyed the wide selection of different types of ramen on the menu. A huge plus for us was the extra noodles—they actually serve a full portion! At many other restaurants, you end up paying the same price for only half a portion, so the value here is much appreciated. On top of that, the staff is very friendly and greeted us with so much enthusiasm when we arrived.

The only downside to this location is the parking situation. There’s a small free parking area at the back, but you’re competing for spots with a neighboring restaurant and a paint shop. Street parking is also limited due to time restrictions during certain hours, and it’s paid parking.
Despite the parking hassle, the ramen and service make it completely worth it, and I would definitely recommend checking them out.“

“The restaurant was very busy, and the service was generally good. However, there was one waitress who always had a sour face and a bad attitude. We encountered her two or three times. We didn't want to give her a tip, but we didn't know how tips were distributed, and it would be unfair to the other waitresses if we didn't.“

“Authentic Chinese cuisine ran by very kind owners. Whether it is to dine in or takeout, you can never go wrong with this restaurant. The fried rice, honey garlic ribs, and sweet and sour pork are some of their dishes I enjoy most. The vibe inside the restaurant feels very Chinese as well. Though the restaurant is cramped and may be overwhelming sometimes, the food is cooked to near perfection and the restaurant is simply a happy place to be in.“

“💎Hidden Gem for their Beef Brisket and Vegetable Chow Mein!!! It deserves a Michelin star ⭐ it’s so good! The beef brisket is so tender it melts in your mouth while the sauce is rich and beefy covering crispy noodles. Pure perfection. The other items like soya beef chow fun and shrimp and egg swirl chow fun were delicious too but like normal 4/5 above average but not outstanding delicious. Portions are generous and it’s affordable food. However you need to try the beef brisket and vegetable chow Mein here, it really stood out.“

“Came here because I like the Victoria Dr location. It's similar but sooooo much more salty. Also the fish cakes got smaller and less generous. Still tasty though. It's a small place so prepare to wait.

Update: came back a year later and asked for less salty. Was so thirsty after I had to chug water. Why so much sodium?????“

“We spent a splendid getaway in the Murray Hotel last weekend. Candy and Marianne took care of everybody in the bar with care and smile during the busy late afternoon. Their presence makes the drinks and snacks even better. Rocky and Sheldon’s offer great hospitality in the Tai Pan. We enjoyed our breakfast very much. We will come back soon!“

“A nice young man assisted me in product selection. This is a small storefront of the factory, nice selection of frozen dumplings, wontons, rice dumplings, boas and buns of different flavours. Also sell fresh dumpling wrappers, and last they had freshly hot 水煎包.“

“I’ve only had the pho here, I’m a small eater and doing low-carb, so I get it without noodles and they give me some nice fresh veggies instead. It’s perfectly seasoned every time. They advertise that they use local Canadian beef, and portions are super generous. First time I visited I told the owner it was so good and full of meat it was mooing!
It’s a comfy room with a relaxed homey vibe. Seems to be a family-run place. Service is quick and friendly. If you’re lucky the radio will be tuned to Vietnamese Jazz, which I really enjoyed.
Someday soon I am going to visit here with friends, there seems to be many special dishes on the menu. I’d like to try more but I’ve only been there on my own so far so can’t order much.“

“We ordered half a roast duck, which was reasonably priced and offered good value. The flavor was enjoyable, although I felt the seasoning could have been a bit richer and more intense. The meat was decent, but it would have been even more satisfying if it had been more tender and succulent. Overall, it’s a worthwhile dish, especially considering the reasonable price.“

“They offer three soup spice levels: mild, medium, and spicy. I think the medium is a good balance, enough for people who enjoy spice but don’t want a tongue-burning level. It's food court food so you can’t expect too much, but a little less msg would be nice 😊 There are definitely better places out there, but I’d come back for the convenience and fast service.“

“Wow! The dry mixed beef noodles with pickled chili were incredible! We came at 7 pm just when many of the restaurants in the food court were closing up for the day. After being denied service at a dim sum counter, we hurriedly looked around and picked Chef Rong Noodle House at random. I’m so glad we picked them.

The lady was polite and took our order right away when she saw that we were ready, and laughed with us when I changed my mind on adding a topping at the last minute. The meals looked so tasty that we didn’t even bother to take photos because we wanted to dig in right away. My partner’s beef and rice with pickled chili was good, but it was clear that my dry mixed noodles were the star of the show.“

“Located inside the Crystal Mall food court, this spot serves seriously flavorful noodles. The broth is rich and aromatic — spicy in a balanced way, not overpowering, and you can really taste the depth without too much MSG. The noodles are firm and perfectly cooked, giving that nice bite every time.

Pricing is very reasonable (as you’d expect in Crystal Mall), and the portion size is fair. The lady at the counter was super responsive and efficient — even with a long lineup, she made sure to acknowledge everyone waiting and kept things moving quickly.

The only downside is the card machine — likely due to the mall’s poor Wi-Fi. It took multiple tries for the payment to go through, which was a bit frustrating, but not really their fault.

Overall, great food, good service, and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Crystal Mall and craving authentic, spicy noodles.“
