“It had been years since my last solo dining experience, a streak finally broken by a flashy sign promising a hot $12.80 beef set before 5 PM (along with temporary shelter from the light rain). Though the staff appeared to be new, they were accommodating and I appreciated their hard work. The warm food (the beef set with a mushroom-broth base) hit the spot, with a versatile sauce bar to customize the flavors. I’d highly recommend this discounted set as a pre-workout meal. Thank you for the warm food and the hospitality while escaping the weather.“

“Very nice place! We were seated immediately by our server Fanny she was very friendly!
We ordered some spring rolls a chicken and rice dish with mixed vegetables sweet and sour spareribs and some very tasty hot and sour soup !
Our order came within like 10 to 15 minutes after ordering. We couldn't finish the soup and I ate it for 2 meals later that week. Price was very reasonable $45.89!! can't beat the price and I've eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants and chinese tea is always usually free!
So I would recommend you try this place you won't be disappointed !“

“Rich, creamy broth with a gentle heat that perfectly complemented the tender fish and earthy mushrooms. The fresh vegetables and green peppercorn added a vibrant kick, and the red rice made it hearty and satisfying. A comforting, flavorful dish. I came with my big family and got great atmosphere too. If you are going to bring kids, it is good to order tomatoes sauce fish with yummy crispy pork.“

“We had a great dining experience at Alvin Garden. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and has a nice Chinese-style atmosphere. The food was very flavorful, especially the kung pao chicken, spicy boiled fish, and stir-fried pork with green peppers. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly. A great place for family meals or dining with friends. Would definitely come back again“

“We’ve been here for dim sum a handful of times, and the food is consistently great. Service has always been good as well.
Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, we ordered the hot and sour seafood soup and found a very long black hair in it (and we are all blonde). We let our server know right away, and they were very apologetic and removed the dish from our bill.
That said, we were a bit surprised that nothing further was offered—no small discount or even a dessert on the house. While we appreciated the apology, it felt like a missed opportunity to go a step further in making things right.
A bit disappointing, especially when the “extra ingredient” definitely wasn’t something we ordered.“

“I came here for lunch and was warmly greeted by the cashier and owner. They were both so helpful in explaining how to build my own Chinese poke bowl. Bowls start at only $12.88 and you choose a protein, base, sauce and 3 sides. I tried shrimp with thick noodles, dragon sauce and 3 veggie sides. The noodles were chewy and the sauce added a nice kick to it. I also tried the chicken curry over brown rice. I enjoyed the curry, next time I'm going to try their curry brisket over noodles.
They also have bubble tea! I tried mango milk tea with pearls and lychee black tea with coconut jelly. Both drinks were refreshing with a fruity taste and I liked that they weren't too sweet.“

“Be patient as this ownership group are getting their systems in place. Based on the genuine friendly staff they just need to sort out the timing in being attentive to each group of diners. The food is excellent quality and ideal for all age groups to digest.“

“Had high expectation due to the reviews. We only ordered a few dishes but they were a bit disappointing in my own opinion.
- The recommended Guoba Rou was a let down because it was basically deep fried breading in sweet sauce. The meat layer was so thin you could barely taste it. The fried breading was thick and chewy.
- Maybe we did not read the description but the egg plant dish was also in a very sweet sauce when we thought it would be savory. Its very heavy.
- Staff was nice and place was a bit small. If you want to eat in I would recommend checking in a bit early or reserving a spot.“

“I really enjoy this place.
Every time I come to Burnaby for school I make it a regular treat to come here for 12x Wonderful spicy Wonton with peanuts, and either their House Hot Noodles or their Dan Dan noodles. (Both Medium) as they have a heavy hand with spicy but I always love both when I get them. If youre getting it to go, ask for the noodles and broth to be split up. Its such a great spot when youre hungry. For 20$ you'll absolutely be full full full.“

“Lovely couple run the restaurant, the decor is plain but who cares when the food is so delicious. I felt the price was reasonable for the fantastic quality and others that joined our dinner said it was the best they’ve had. I will definitely be back and this place will be my “go to” for delicious Asian food.“

“May Rice Roll & Congee Chinese Restaurant is a solid 4-star neighbourhood spot for a simple Chinese breakfast or lunch. The rice rolls and congee were fairly average, but it’s a good option when you’re craving something mild and comforting. The owner/server was very kind and welcoming, which added to the experience. Overall, it’s a cozy local place with a steady stream of regulars—nothing fancy, but dependable and relaxed.“

“Amazing flavor, but watch your fingers!
I stopped by for a bowl of their signature clay pot noodles, and it was a bit of an adventure. First off, be prepared for the heat—the soup stays boiling hot in the clay pot for the entire meal. In the US, someone would probably be suing them over the temperature lol, but it definitely keeps the flavors intense!
The soup base was absolutely incredible—rich, savory, and deep. The beef brisket and tendon were the highlights; they were amazingly tender and melted in my mouth.
One thing to note, these are potato noodles (Tu Dou Fen). They are very thick and extremely chewy. Personally, I think I’d prefer a standard ramen-style noodle.
They have a unique deposit system here. You pay an extra $5 deposit for the clay bowl when you order. Once you’re finished, you return the bowl to the counter and they give you your $5 back in cash.“

“If you order the normal ayce, the meats you get are kind of the run of the mill things. Cheaper cuts that aren't anything special. The seafood is also kind of regular besides the full head on shrimp which was actually pretty good if you don't mind getting a bit messy. The cooked food like she shiumai was good as well as their egg tarts for dessert.“

“One of the things I really like about this hot pot buffet is the variety beyond just the hot pot itself. They offer a nice selection of complimentary snacks, side dishes, and desserts, which makes the whole experience feel more complete and enjoyable.
It’s also a great place to come with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed, there’s plenty of food to share, and everyone can find something they like. Whether you’re catching up or just hanging out, it’s an easy spot for a group meal.
Overall, a fun and satisfying place to dine, especially if you enjoy having lots of options!“

“Absolutely incredible. My partner and I tried the restaurant for the first time and we were both blown away by the quality of the food.
We ordered the combo meal with salt and pepper chicken and Kung Pao beef, and I had to pause every few minutes between mouthfuls to gush about how good everything tasted. The seasoning for the chicken was perfect; the Kung Pao beef was tender and flavourful; and the fried tofu was an explosion of crispy batter and tender tofu meat.
The restaurant occupies a small, unassuming space, but its quality puts many of the bigger, fancier restaurants to shame.
Run, do not walk, to try Aroma Eatery. You won't regret it.“

“A classic Chinese restaurant. The menu has plenty to choose from, with food variation and options. Classic, unfussy decor - which is a good thing, in my opinion. The beef rolls are a great idea. Super flavourful and satisfying. Worth a try!“

“Ordered from this Cantonese restaurant by phone tonight. Free delivery within 5 km for orders over $40, and they even included free spring rolls.
Portions were very generous and everything was delicious. The diced chicken and salted fish fried rice(鹹魚雞粒炒飯)was hands down the best I’ve had in Vancouver, full of rich, savory flavor. The sweet and sour pork with pineapple(菠蘿咕咾肉)was also very authentic.
The beef with pan fried rice noodle(乾炒牛河)was a bit light on seasoning, but not greasy at all, which I appreciated. Delivery was fast and overall the experience was great.
Will definitely order again.“

“LOVE the food and the service. Been going there for years. Big portions, great prices.
*edit* I’ve always had great service there, until yesterday. We had finished eating and I went to pay “the waitress looks at me after I paid and said ‘no tip?’ To which I replied “no, you didn’t even come and check if the food was good or if we needed a drink or anything” to which she then went on complaining to her co workers about me not tipping, in their language btw.“

“The XLB/Shanghai Dumplings were absolutely delicious you can tell they're made fresh. Same with the pan friend dumplings they were the best I've ever had and soo fresh. We also had the marbled pork flatbread which was probably my favorite thing I've eaten in a long time. So juicy and tender and flavorful!“

“The rice noodle rolls are freshly made, but you can really taste the rice batter, which gives them a slightly unusual flavor that might not appeal to everyone. Overall, they’re just okay — not bad, but not great either. The Chinese donut isn’t the traditional Cantonese style; it’s more like a piece of fried bread, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
The egg and minced beef congee, however, is smooth, tasty, and well-balanced in flavor. It’s definitely the highlight of the meal and worth a try. Prices are quite reasonable, making it a decent spot to stop by for a comforting bowl of congee.“
“We spent a splendid getaway in the Murray Hotel last weekend. Candy and Marianne took care of everybody in the bar with care and smile during the busy late afternoon. Their presence makes the drinks and snacks even better. Rocky and Sheldon’s offer great hospitality in the Tai Pan. We enjoyed our breakfast very much. We will come back soon!“

“I’m one of those people who needs a little spice to feel alive. So when I saw this place, I figured why not. Best decision ever.
The heat level here is perfect — sweet and spicy in a way that actually makes sense. Not the kind of spicy where you’re just suffering. You know what I mean.
General Tso chicken? Crispy, saucy, and that sweet-spicy balance is on point. Dry fried green beans had just enough kick to keep things interesting without burning your face off. And everything tasted fresh — like actually fresh, not like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp. You can tell they care. Also got the BBQ pork fried rice and it was legit — fluffy, smoky.“

“Still enjoy coming to this location. It’s spacious, easy parking, and the window seats have a nice view, which is always a plus.
The food is pretty consistent—nothing over the top, but solid overall—and service is reliable. I used to really like their signature desserts, especially the LV bag–shaped one that was super popular, but it seems they don’t offer it anymore.
Compared to other dim sum places, their plating stands out a bit more and feels less generic than the usual plain white plates. Flavour-wise, it’s about average, but as a chain in Vancouver, you know what you’re getting and the quality is fairly dependable.“

“I always hesitate to order noodle soup from food courts because high temperature soup is often served in a single-use plastic container, which can potentially leach microplastics and other chemicals into the food. I love how this place serves its food in a clay pot that you can return after finishing eating. The deposit is $5, which you get back upon returning the clay pot. Not only is using a reusable container healthier, but it's also environmentally friendly!“

“My go to Chinese restaurant in Burnaby.
Have been there for dim sum lunches and everything is fantastic from the ha gow, chicken feet to their rice bowls.
But it's there dinner menu that really shines.
I highly recommend:
Lobster and Glutinous Rice steamed in leaves
Crab and Fish Maw Soup (Thick and Juicy)
Pea Tips (Glistening from the wok)
Baked Custard Pudding (for Dessert; must be ordered in advance .. but it's to die for!)
Not a bad seat in the house; even the small table by the bathroom is decent!!“

“One of my favourite burnaby places to visit. The food is delicious, the ambience low key but relaxing. The food is so authentic it brings me back to my China days. I always swing by every few weeks when I really have an appetite. My only feedback is to increase the rice portion a little but otherwise solid!“

“Been ordering here over a decade, foods never changed it's always the same homey flavor. We don't eat here often but as a take out for some homey food it's very satisfying. Wonton soup is filling and deliciously light. We always get the corn cod and the Sichuan pepper chicken slices. They open late so it's always available to us late working people. Shop owners super friendly and remembers you by your order. (Tbf I did come here a long time). Also recently been getting their spring rolls, it's very crispy and easy to snack on would recommend.“

“They offer three soup spice levels: mild, medium, and spicy. I think the medium is a good balance, enough for people who enjoy spice but don’t want a tongue-burning level. It's food court food so you can’t expect too much, but a little less msg would be nice 😊 There are definitely better places out there, but I’d come back for the convenience and fast service.“
“Bamboo Restaurant is known as the truth refectory at SFU.
Staff always take the full box when you choose the pickup box.
But the other choices shown on the menu are a bit “influenced” by other restaurants with unneeded delicacies.
Anyway if you study or work here you have to try it.“

“Wow! The dry mixed beef noodles with pickled chili were incredible! We came at 7 pm just when many of the restaurants in the food court were closing up for the day. After being denied service at a dim sum counter, we hurriedly looked around and picked Chef Rong Noodle House at random. I’m so glad we picked them.
The lady was polite and took our order right away when she saw that we were ready, and laughed with us when I changed my mind on adding a topping at the last minute. The meals looked so tasty that we didn’t even bother to take photos because we wanted to dig in right away. My partner’s beef and rice with pickled chili was good, but it was clear that my dry mixed noodles were the star of the show.“

“Clean, friendly, good value and fairly consistent. The combos are great value. Not many places serve pan friend Chow Mein and traditional wonton vs the Hong Kong styles that mosr Chinese restaurants serve. “Got a crepe with crispy egg and smoked beef. I really enjoyed it! I felt the crispy egg was key to preventing it all from being a bit mushy. I will ask for spicy next time though. The smoked beef was good, but added a lot to the price, so I also might try something cheaper next time. Definitely going back though!“
