“Because we are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley we are at the Leeward Cafe on an almost weekly basis. The food is always scrumptious and the staff welcoming, friendly and courteous. We love the ambience of dining in the clean and cozy cafe but in fair weather we bring our own mugs, which the staff happily fill, and we sit on the quaint benches out back and enjoy the boats and birds. The Leeward Cafe and its sister business True Grain Bakery are delightful!“

“First visit. Nice clean room, friendly staff, food looks great. I went for the roast beef sandwich because it looked insane. On my way out the door I took a bite and quickly realized I was going to have to eat while driving. It was that good. So now I'm trying to eat this massive sandwich while driving when the car next to me starts honking. The man inside gestures for me to roll down my window, leans over and says, "where did you get that sandwich? It looks incredible!". The car behind him starts honking. "Hanks! It.is incredible!". The car behind me starts honking. We laugh and drive off. So yeah, if you want to get a sandwich that is so good it can cause a minor traffic incident, I highly recommend this place.“

“Not what I was expecting but BETTER!!!! This place was amazing and the cafe was modern, bright, cute and spacious !! They have plant based mills which was the main thing I was seeking out. And many different syrups too. My latte was amazing!!! They have a full staff so ordering was quick and my coffee came out pretty fast too for having a lot of people. I recommend if you are in the area! They have a cute side shop in the store too with cute mugs and powders to buy etc.“

Place looks great and welcoming as always, but with a great new food menu!We had a chai latte (it has always been our favourite go-to for the BEST chai lattes anywhere) and it tasted different. The new owners were super responsive to our feedback which is impressive. Looking forward to going back to try again.“

“I recently had to drive a group down from the comox valley to shawnigan lake and drop them off and then pick them up 6 hours later. I knew I needed a coffee and came across a neat convenience store right near the lake , but just didn’t feel like the gas station / convenience store coffee on this day so I googled “best coffee in shawnigan Lake” and got a direct hit with Shawnigan House Coffee and chocolate ! Well!! Let me tell you !!! After sitting down with a caramel latte and starting light chat with a few customers and the staff, I found myself in the exact spot 4 hours later !!! I read an amazing paper, I bought some local art from a local artist that they kindly display and sell for them and I most importantly met the amazing owners and found an incredible energy and something pretty special from one of the new staff and very good friends if the owners! You could not ask for anything more from a local business from a world class guest experience than here! We even had resident Turkeys that came by for a visit !! How cool is that!!! The snacks are great, the coffee is hot and savory, the music is chill , but most importantly the company and hospitality from the staff is dreamy!!! Thank you for an amazing day while I made my first visit to your secret utopia at Shawnigan Lake ! It definitely won’t be my last. See you all very soon!!! “I have been there twice with my mother. The London fogs are just excellent. The turkey soup is the best I’ve ever had. And the sandwiches are fresh and tasty. Although the selection is limited, the quality is above average. Would highly recommend this place.“

“A hidden gem.Collections of "tin” cups (as name suggests), free grapes, and the fish tank are so cool to find in a coffee shop.Featured multiple flavors of bubble tea tasted surprisingly good and I ordered a Tara-flavor bubble tea and some coconut bar dessert.It is a big surprise to discover a bubble tea place in Duncan!Would definitely revisit and try their coffee options if I travel in Duncan again and highly recommended!!“

“Ideal spot for a quick coffee and lite bite. Service was quick. Tables needed cleaning, however, sign outside door warned customers that they were short staffed and if you were going to complain requested you submit a resume instead. Loved it!!“

“Stopped for coffee, a muffin and a sandwich on a road trip heading up to the Cathedral Grove old growth Forest. The coffee was flavorful, the muffin was fresh that morning, and so was the sandwich. There were a few tables in there with locals solving world problems.“

Swear by the bagelwich breakfast sandwich and chicken cesar wrap.I would give a 4.5 overall, deduction due to poor coffee which needs improving. Have tried a few different hot drink options and wasn't able to finish any of them.Also worth noting not a lot of (any?) gluten free options. When doing lunch runs for the crew, it typically means I've got to stop off somewhere else to get a gluten free meal.“

“I go here at least 3 times a week and the staff are so friendly! They all know me and they remember my order and name every time! Never have had a wrong order, always had great customer service, and always have had great conversations with the staff members! They always have great coffee and great selections of small sized snacks!“
