“If I could give Happy Lamb Vancouver 10 stars, I honestly would. The value here is unbeatable—the portions, the quality, and the overall experience are worth every dollar. The restaurant is spotless every time I visit, and you can tell they take real pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable. On top of that, the staff are incredible: friendly, attentive, and always willing to help without ever feeling rushed. “It had been years since my last solo dining experience, a streak finally broken by a flashy sign promising a hot $12.80 beef set before 5 PM (along with temporary shelter from the light rain). Though the staff appeared to be new, they were accommodating and I appreciated their hard work. The warm food (the beef set with a mushroom-broth base) hit the spot, with a versatile sauce bar to customize the flavors. I’d highly recommend this discounted set as a pre-workout meal. Thank you for the warm food and the hospitality while escaping the weather.“

“First time trying Gokudo Shabu Shabu in Burnaby and overall it was a great experience. The service was amazing — very attentive and quick. At one point I ran out of sauce and the server immediately noticed and offered more without me even asking.
We ordered the lunch special combo for two ($39.99), which includes two soups, two meats, two sides, two drinks, and dessert. For soups, we chose the preserved duck egg with cilantro and the Malaysian laksa. For meats, we went with two orders of fatty short plate. We upgraded our sides for $1 each and got ground pork on rice. Drinks were milk tea (drink of the day).
The laksa soup was very flavorful, while the duck egg cilantro soup was a bit light and watery and could have used more depth. The ground pork rice was really tasty and came with mushrooms, which was a nice touch.
For dessert, they only had pistachio Melona available, which unfortunately wasn’t my favourite.
Overall, a very filling and enjoyable lunch with excellent service.“
“After discovering this place, we have visited 5x in 2 weeks. Amazing pay-by weight hot pot place with extremely high quality broth. It is not too busy and the servers are so attentive/friendly. The broths are very flavourful, the Tom yum and fish maw chicken are our favorites. Their Taiwanese chicken nuggets and golden buns are also delicious. They do not charge extra for take out containers in case you cannot finish your food, which is a plus!
Tip: come before 5pm for their lunch special. You get so much food for the price, comes with choice of drink and dessert. The appies are also $3 off with the lunch special.“
“Absolutely delicious! The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. The seafood, vegetables, fish cakes, and noodles were all fresh and generously portioned. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the soup had just the right balance of heat and depth.
The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The portions were generous, and everything was served fresh and hot.

“If you order the normal ayce, the meats you get are kind of the run of the mill things. Cheaper cuts that aren't anything special. The seafood is also kind of regular besides the full head on shrimp which was actually pretty good if you don't mind getting a bit messy. The cooked food like she shiumai was good as well as their egg tarts for dessert.“

My parents have been going here since my oldest sister was born and have been taking me since I was a kid, this place is truly amazing and will forever be my favourite comfort meal spot in vancouver. “Very good 1-person set lunches M-F.
What I loved:
- Tomato base was perfectly savoury and sour, not too sweet unlike other places that taste like they added sugar.
- Lamb slices were perfect, not too fatty. Not all iced up either.
- The corn provided was the sticky variety, which tastes way better with hot pot as it takes on more flavour and is hard to overcook
- Unsweetened green tea was great, not diluted in ice yet still cold, very fragrant... reminds me of the Chinese ones sold in large bottles at t&t haha which for me is a good thing
- Legit sesame sauce at the sauce bar not the watery stuff
- Noodles were the thicker type that can boil for a long time without thickening your soup, it kept its bounciness and shape
- Free ice cream was an individually wrapped chocolate popsicle bar! So much more hygienic than the soft serve places and more delicious than most of them too
- Service was attentive and not always hovering, felt very comfortable
- Music when I went was all 2000s hits 😆
The only nitpicks:
- If you're seated near the neon lights and get a red soup base...good luck telling if your meat is cooked 😂 next time I'll try to get seated by the windows so I can tell if my meat is still pink
- Cilantro was running v low at sauce bar“

“I’ve been going to the Burnaby one a lot so I thought I would try Richmond. The food is equally delicious and fresh, but the service was inconsistent and the tables are too small to fit everyone’s plates. Some servers worked super hard to get stuff for you but it was just the few who did. The others would just be standing around chatting and not paying attention. I prefer the Burnaby one because the service is good and you can order off an iPad. In Richmond you have to flag a server down to order a lot of the food which makes it even worse if you can’t get someone’s attention.“

“This place has a non-stop line of people ordering and you can tell why. Their speciality is the Taiwanese style fried chicken leg (boneless) or their Taiwanese salty fried chicken nuggets combo with rice and 3 sides they give you. Before I get into their deliciousness of the chicken, their sides are killer too. They give you a handful of veggies of the day, a thick piece of matinated tofu patty, and soya sauce marinated egg. Protein heaven already. Their chicken is so freshly deep fried, just the right amount of spices, hot, juicy and tender on the inside. Sprinkle some of their red powder on the side if you want more heat. Their portion is huge! They don't skimp out at all! I normally eat 3/4 and pack the rest home. All for $15! Bring cash as with all Richmond vendors!“

“This place is exceptional! The beef hotpot was perfectly portioned, and they don’t skimp on the meat. The wintermelon juice also pairs great with the spicy broth. At the end of the meal they gave a little container of lemonade which was great. The service was also exceptional.

“The portions are enormous and the food is high quality for the price. Plentiful side dishes. I got the fried squid add on expecting it to be a little more protein, but it’s an insane amount for only $15.
Looking at the 1-star reviews, I’m not sure what these people were smoking to have that experience, but it’s tragic it’s brought this place’s reviews lower than it should be.“

“Wasn’t too busy when we went. The food was good with lots of different options for the ayce. We got cotton candy at the end of the meal but the cotton candy machine was a bit faulty. The staff were so helpful with the machine repair so that we could enjoy it in the end. A really good more price friendly ayce hot pot option in the Metrotown area“

“Great service. I was by myself but wanted to take food home, so I over ordered. The server was very helpful. The broth on the chicken noodle soup was very tasty, but the chicken should have prepared without flabby skin and gristle. Because of street construction, parking and entry was a little challenging. I plan to return with family members who appreciate Vietnamese food. There are interesting dishes here.“

“This place for sure deserve another five star review, I found this place the other night with my wife, first of all staff a super friendly, we got free soup to begin with, follow with the chicken dish, fish dish and a pork dish. “The food was great, yes if you are not into soup 🍲 why even go ... But I do like soup and with the choices it is done very well.
They use a gelatin fuel source that easily boiled the soup and even after an hour it is still going (no fuel smell)
I recommend going one level hotter then you like, me max level, because after they add more water it waters down the spice.
The toppings are fresh and the service was nice.“
“We went on a Thursday for lunch, wasn’t too crowded, the seatings were very spacious, and the staff were nice👍🏻 We got the Pork Stomach with Pepper Soup and the Chicken Wings with Salted Egg Yolk. It was my first time having these two dishes and they were both out of the world😮 The staff came at the right timings to add soup for us, but weren’t like some over-friendly people I’ve encountered before that come every 2 minutes asking you how everything was🤣 Too bad I don’t live in Vancouver, otherwise this would be a place that I want to go to often😩“

“...WORTH DRIVING IN FROM RICHMOND--have been meaning to try GS as have been referred to similar great food venues along Victoria Dr. Was glad to have stopped in while trying to run couple errands on a rainy weekday...2 of us shared congee (nice touch w/ dainty dish of condiments!), stuffed eggplant (ginormous!), shrimp crepe, har gow & (finally) some deep fried stuffed taro root dumplings...won't go so far as to give away what wkday to enjoy great staffing service, but please keep up the great atmosphere/dining value--bravo!“

“It not my first time there. The food at this place has always been good , very authentic and a truthful representative of Chinese cuisine at its best . The dishes are generous in quantities . This time it wasn’t any different. I did choose three dishes from the dim sum menu at I was not disappointed. The food came in less than 10 minutes and was very fresh and testy. The food came along with a pot of fresh and testy tea. The service was friendly. I cannot say too much about the atmosphere this time because the place was empty, but I usually go there at night time and it’s quite full with dinners. Highly recommended.“
