50 Best Craft Breweries near Albany

Ocean View Brew Works Brewery • $$
627 San Pablo Ave, Albany

“This brewery is phenomenal. Lots of selection and rotation moves fast. The inside can be tight but the outside there is a space for kids to play and even a spot to reserve a party. Every once in a while they will have a jazz band that plays which is great to enjoy with the family. This brewery will do classics, IPA’s and even some unique beers like a mushroom porter. No matter what though the beer is always quality. The customer service is great and they have trivia nights, game nights, and live music. The only negative I can give this place is the beers are small batch and rotate fast. Once you get used to a beer more then likely it won’t be back which sucks cus they’re all really good. Highly recommend!“

“This is a perfect place to have dinner with friends. The atmosphere is cool, with jazz music in the background. I loved the Brussel sprouts and also the cooked carrots with hummus. They don’t sound very special but they were yummy! The pizzas are interesting and also good. A bit greasy and with a lot of cheese but I definitely liked them. I tried a dark beer with some holiday spices that was great! The waiter was also super nice. So overall a great experience and I think prices were fair given the good quality.Vegetarian options: Brussel sprouts, carrots, and some pizzas too!“

Anchor Brewing Company Brewery • $$
1705 Mariposa St, San Francisco - 10.22 miles

“Great beer and wonderful staff. One of the best games to play is when you're in the bathroom and there happens to be someone in the stall keeping really quiet until you leave. When you've done you're thing and you're on your way out pretend to leave. Open the door and close it again. That person in the stall will think you've left and they'll let it rip. Most people will have been holding it back, probably gripping the sides of the toilet, waiting for you to leave and when its released it'll make a hell of a noise. You can then laugh all the way back to your beer knowing that you caught them at their most vulnerable. Sometimes I just make the fart noise and then leave. It's up to you how you play it.“

Olfactory Brewing & Blending Brewery •
2245 3rd St, San Francisco - 9.99 miles

“Great place to hang out with friends! Went on a Saturday night and it was lively but not overly crowded or hectic. Bartender was nice and answered any questions we had about the beers. We tried their IPA on tap, dark lager, and two of the saisons (original and strawberry). Everything was delicious. I normally do not like IPAs but this one was on the lighter end. I do wish they had a slightly larger selection. I love stouts and was disappointed to see they did not have any stouts on their menu. Seems like they do rotate their beers often so will be back! We did not try their food but looks like they often have pop-up restaurants there. There were burgers the night we went, and looks like the following night was going to be BBQ. Location was also good and easy to find street parking.“

Sante Adairius Rustic Ales Oakland Arbor Brewpubs •
460 8th St, Oakland - 6.1 miles

“I haven't been here for many years. It's always been a Belgian beer bar. I'm not sure when Sante Adairius took it over but they've pretty much kept it the same as it was, in a good way. As I tend to drink IPA's, I was happy that they also had some on the menu. I tried the Left and Leaning, a non hazy that I really enjoyed. My friend had a very properly poured St. Bernardus (see photo). The service was great. Also on hand is a lovely, friendly Irish Setter. It was very fun when he visited our table. There's a nice $5 parking lot next door with an attendant. This alone would bring me back :)“

Original Pattern Brewing Brewery • $
292 4th St, Oakland - 6.43 miles

“Awesome brewery boasting fun beers in a cool space! They had a pretty good variety of brews with 14 beers on tap. They hit most styles from light to dark. No sours when we went in, but they did have a gose. They also had some others available in the can, though they were for to-go consumption only. We came here on a Saturday afternoon shortly after opening and the downstairs was pretty packed. Lucky for us, they also had a spacious upstairs area with plenty of seating. They also had a few spots outside, though the inside seating was more comfortable. There's plenty of free street parking near by, most of it in the 2-4 hour range. Don't come this way often, but would come back here for sure. Would love to see them expand to other areas of the Bay too!“

“Good hazy IPA and surprisingly good hazy pale ale. Also enjoyed the tree people west coast IPA. Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders who were on the ball on service even during a crowded night with 49’ers in playoffs. Tasty guacamole & chips were satisfying to balance the beer. Other items in Mexican pop-up stand seemed very popular (quesadillas). Plenty of TV’s, clean bathroom, not difficult to find parking, great vibe - would come back here anytime! Only downside was they didn’t have the tshirts we wanted in L size. Next time!“

“My favorite brewery in Oakland and it’s not even close. Large and diverse selection of beers such as IPA’s, malty ( schwarzbier, dopplebock, brown ale, etc), and light beers. the inside can be kind of tight but they have plenty of outdoor seating and the upstairs which has more seating and an entertainment area for kids. The customer service and the owners are always good people and there is food trucks always outside when I’m there which are quality as well. The only thing I can recommend is to watch your cars in the area. It’s still Oakland but I have yet to see a break in of my car or others but I would take valuables out. Other then that come visit this brewery, enjoy the amazing beers and good people.“

I think these dishes were some of the priciest ones in the menu so I was sad to see the Dungeness crab roll sitting there by itself with a side of lemon wedge. The roll was absolutely delicious. But really not even a side of locally sourced chips with the crab roll that cost $24? The seafood soup was also amazing and $24.I am not going to take away any stars for that because it is an establishment I would visit again. I love the food the ambiance and the service.“

“Found out about this brewery while at the SF Beer Week Gala event last Friday, so my wife and I did just that today.Outstanding brewery from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. The beer selection is vast and delicious (actually had an IPA that I enjoyed, more of a Pilsner guy). The Detroit style pizza was amazing, my wife and I split the half Pepperoni Pizza (which comes in a full too, but for a snack the two slices were perfect size).Merchandise wise is great, good selection of shirts, a hoodie and a tacker. The atmosphere is laid back, music was at a nice volume and overall was just a nice place to go have a beer and chat with your significant other or friends.Shoutout to Andrea who was so nice to both my wife and I who had never been to the brewery before.Amazing brewery if you're in Berkeley, highly recommend.“

Served at a great temp and not too foamy. The servers are experienced, some coming over from the very popular Almanac brewing company so they are used to handling big groups and educating on what they have on tap. Prices were very reasonable. Come show the new business some love, I for sure will be venturing back this summer many times.“

East Brother Beer Company Brewery • $$
1001 Canal Blvd, Richmond - 4.74 miles

“One of the best breweries in the bay. I was holding off on giving a review as I stopped going here for a while because of the lack of customer service. I came back a year later and I’m glad to say it’s improved.Beers are anything from IPA’s to traditional German and at times English. For reference I hate IPA’s so I am reviewing the great non IPA beers. They usually will serve some beer that can only be sold on draft exclusively at the brewery where most of the beers can be purchased at liquor stores in cans. But as every beer drinker knows it’s better in draft. The inside is great and spacey with lots of large tables. Plenty of games and kid friendly both in and outside. The outside is especially great as there is a long narrow area with a fire pit, tables, and no cars can drive down it besides the food truck. I usually have my kid playing with a ball or scooter down this area and feel completely safe about it.Overall amazing beer, great ambiance, and very family friendly. Btw I am very picky in beer so this a god review for me and I have been to most of the breweries in the bay.“

It was cool to find one so close to home. The tasting is fun, and very educational - we watched a video at the beginning, and the woman who ran the tasting taught us a lot about what made each pour taste different. “The atmosphere at 2 Pitchers is always great, there are plenty of seating options. 2 Pitchers specializes in brewing RADLERS which are like fruitier beers that are lighter on the ABV than other popular craft beers. They have a good selection of their own brewed beers ($6 per pint) and then they also have a great variety of local beers from other craft brewers in the area which go for $8-10 per pint. They also have some wines but no liquor license. You can get a burger or fries from Lovely's (which always has a line!) and eat it here. There are indoor and outdoor seating options, and it is very dog and kid friendly.“

The Woods has a nice outside patio in the back, which is amazing when it is sunny out, and a parklet in the front with heaters. In addition, there are big booths and seats at the bar inside. The Woods had beer and wine. I'm a beer drinker and love the rotating options. This time, I had Local Honey, which is a cult favorite. I have never had their wine, but I hear it is good. The Woods also serves Joyride Pizza. Joyride Pizza is Detroit-style, and the crust is thick, soft, and perfectly doughy with crispy cheese on the edges. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken. They're dog and kid-friendly, have strong wifi, and have fantastic mid-sized crisp and fluffy fries. GET THEM. Serve-yourself condiments and utensils. You order everything at the taptender/cashier, and a fantastic food runner delivers the food to your table. Staff are all wonderful and kind, also love the open kitchen concept.I loved that there were so many sours on tap, and was very happy to go with Glitter box which was so delicious, not tart/puckery, and with a hint of funk "like a saison" my taptender so brilliantly stated. “Full disclosure: I'm more of a wine drinker than a beer one. Physically I think this place is a beautiful place to hang out. It's kind of a modern industrial take on a biergarten with high ceilings and lots of wood and stainless steel. I've never seen it anything but spotlessly clean. When the weather is warm I definitely prefer hanging out on the patio area in front. They don't serve food themselves, but they sometimes have a food truck and are totally fine with you bringing in outside food. There are a handful of great food choices within walking distance. They're known for their IPAs which aren't usually my jam, but there are always other interesting options to try. For example I had their new "Dark Headed" Imperial Stout on my last visit and really enjoyed it. (It was almost like a dessert wine, but beer if that makes any sense?) They also have taster pours so you can sample one or build a custom flight. It does get a little busy on Friday around happy hour and on weekends. But the service has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I've never had to wait long for drink either. It's obvious they take pride in the product and what they do. Steps and various surfaces involved. For food, pizza are wood oven baked and so delicious. Joey and classic are our favorite. Burgers are juicy and cook to order. Burrata plate is sooo refreshing and yummy. Best appetizer to share.Service is a bit choppy and waiter dependent. Overall good. Staff are friendly in general. It's per table QR code order. It's a great place all in all and will be back for pizza and burrata.Vegetarian options: Menu has vegetarian optionsParking: Find street parking sing the block“

“This place is perfect. The atmosphere is fun and low key. It feels very comfortable. The beer selection is awesome and sticks to very German beer flavors which I love. I did have one of their sandwiches and it was tasty no complaints I would eat there again. The pretzel is tasty too. Maybe a little expensive though for three bites. The service is average. No complaints.“

Ghost Town Brewing - West Oakland Brewery • $
1960 Adeline St, Oakland - 5.08 miles

“I've always loved Ghost Town's beers, from the always solid selection of IPAs as well as the names and artwork on the cans. I finally got to check out the West Oakland location and the experience very much delivered on both aspects. First, drink selection - between the drafts and can's you'll have everything you desire. Not just IPAs but darker beers, sours, etc. The friendly staff will take care of you promptly and get you what you need. On the overall atmosphere, it sort of feels like being transported to their thematic world. It's dark inside, with horror-goth themed pinball machines, and other similar decorations. They even hold an occasional goth market to level things up more. So if you haven't been, go now! Even better, order some pizza, bring some friends, and enjoy a few rounds.“

“We stopped by here last night on the way to the Mission District and it was great. The bartenders working there were incredibly friendly and kind! They also have a huge selection of beer and awesome empanadas! If you're looking for a place with amazing bartenders, tons of good for beer, and empanadas, definitely go here! The guys working here are fantastic and we will definitely be stopping by again when we're in the area!!“

“Among my favorites. Self-proclaimed oldest brewpub in America, although that status from 1986 may not be true. Good food, nice beer selection in an old place dripping with boho charm. Alas, their sandwich menu selection no longer includes a stellar muffaletta.“
