“This is the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to in the East Bay. So I and my friends keep coming back. The dishes are really well done, and the portions are quite good too. While, it can get a little noisy when it’s full, most of the time it’s OK. I particularly love the corn cheese fritters, the jumbo garlic, shrimp, the exquisite, coconut soup, and the ginger dish. The wait staff have been universally considerate and excellent.“

“We arrived on a Friday at 5:30 PM. There was a short line, but the place was already packed. There is an outdoor seating area and indoor sitting area. The food came out pretty quickly. My favorite dish is actually the sashimi appetizer because the fish was super fresh and delicious. Other dishes we got was the tamago, the hot soba with the shrimp tempura and the hot soba with the duck. Everything was extremely delicious. A little pricey, but expected for Bay Area prices. Food was good overall so I would come again! No parking lot but street parking was easy to find.“

“My boyfriend and I came in today after school to place a to-go order. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with open arms they were quick to take our order and the food came out pretty fast. We had the Special Beef noodle soup. It was AMAZING!! the beef was so tender and so flavorful. ( I’m a picky eater so the Bok choy wasn’t my favorite but that was a easy fix but simply not eating it lol) 10/10 Will be coming here very often! ( I added a bit of hotsauce)“

“The beef shortrib is amazing!! Got the extra meat, extra beg and tteokbokki and the flavors meshed so well. The mild spice level was really nice with some light heat, but still had all the flavor. The melty cheese on top was fire (literally) and obviously the soju went great with all the flavors. I did wish they gave us more banchan or refilled our dishes, but thats just because I'm a fiend for daikon kimchi. We did have to flag down the waiters a couple times to get refills on water and for drink orders, but they were crazy busy (for good reason!). The restaurant was also super loud, so expect to shout to talk to your table. Some noise dampening in the restaurant would probably be helpful. We waited an hour for our table and i 100% would wait again.“

“Excellent food and service. Very nice and the food was delicious, savory, and properly spicy. The vegetarian options are also really nice and very flavorful. There’s something for everyone here!
The food is very authentic, so don’t order anything spicy if you can’t handle a lot of spice!

Vegetarian options: Cold sesame noodle, tomato egg noodles, veggie chow mien, and numerous veggie appetizers and a vegetarian section for regular dishes with tofu and veggies.“

“Have been here a few times now and this is probably my favorite dumpling place in the city. The real star is the sheng jian bao (not sure what they call it in the english menu). This is the only place that I have that comes anything close to what it would taste like in Shanghai. The Hong Kong pan fried noodles here are also really great. I grew up eating this dish as a kid and it is still a favorite of mine as an adult. The mongolian beef here is also quite good.

The soup dumplings are good but not great. The meat is a bit bland and the proportions are a bit off. I would stay away from the scallion pancake as it isn't that great.

Food comes out fast and the prices are pretty reasonable. We spent about $20 per person.“

“My wife is Shanghainese, and this is her favorite restaurant. My daughter’s too!

We love especially their (these are some of the most famous dishes in Shanghai cuisine)
- Shanghai style stir-fried shrimps
- Soft tofu in crab sauce
- steamed rice with bacon and vegetable (comes in a clay pot)

The staff is kind and unfailingly sweet to our kids.“

“My fav Japanese ramen restaurant in San Francisco. Food is yummy and server was great , quick. There are few tables outside. Mostly i go there with my children and we sit outside which means family friendly and comfortable. The waiter had a warm demeanor. Overall 100/10 ?

“This place is a gem. The owners are sweet, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is unique and cozy.

The rice is also yummy here. Big portions, fair price.

10/10 recommend the General Tso Tofu. It’s on the sweet side comparatively, but they can make it spicier on request.“

“On a really cold day in SF, this was absolutely what I needed to have in my stomach. I was so hungry and did not really want to walk too far or Uber anywhere so I was lucky enough to stumble upon this place. Even though it’s a bit cramped and looks a little run down, it was very cozy to sit in and get away from the cold.

I ordered my soup and it was ready in less than ten minutes. I ordered a small and let me just say it looked more like a large. I can’t even imagine what the large looks like. My soup was incredibly filling and left me feeling more than satisfied. It had the perfect amount of noodles and meat. I enjoyed every spoonful of it!“

“Cool place (love the decor/style), nice staff & tasty food. Some dishes you will not find in the average Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. For example, the chef or owner is from northern Thailand so the menu features a top Northern Thai dish - Kao Soi noodle soup (beef or chicken), or the all time fav 'street food' grilled pork skewers (moo ping) served with sticky rice (ck out the menu on their website). I had the Pad Kemao Chicken (menu says beef but they are happy to make dishes with what you like & even have Beyond Meat dishes on the menu - cool to see stir fried basil with Beyond Meat (Krapao Beyond Neur)). The taste of my wok fried pad kemao was delicious, same or better than any I've had on prior trips to Bangkok. Glad to have discovered a solid Thai restaurant that doesn't have watered down flavors. Good to see they have a lot of gluten free and vegan choices on the menu too. Definitely will be back, keep up the good work!“

“Here's my one millionth review. I freaking love this place. I can cook my own dan dan noodles, but I can't get my soup buns as delicious as theirs. So I come here and get both. With a side of their chili garlic sauce and szechuan sauce. It's my go to meal. I've been trying new restuarants lately but I always regret not going here for my tried and true good meal. Don't want Dan Dan....get their smoked bamboo and cured pork belly noodle dish. These folks flavors are the best. Eat inside for a chill experience and watch the fantastic cooking on the TV screen, or take to go and get impeccable service everytime. I've wasted some money this week on subpar food, but four hours later, I'm still thinking about these hands down, no contest, delicious dishes. And EVERYTIME someone is visiting me, I get them an order of the soup buns (best once you've let them cool down) and I've never had a single person disappointed by the delicious and often hot experience. THE BEST. The new dumpling place around the corner has a good chengdu noodle if you want vegetarian and they also have soup buns, but Special Noodle is still my fave.“

“I used to live in SF for a short while and been revisiting Hai Ky for 15 years. I think about the food here a lot - the craft is amazing. It's a regular topic in my group chat.
The broth is restrained but near perfect - the noodles are platonic ideal textures of gloss and chewiness. Glorious, bouncy and well dressed in whatever you get them in. The rice noodles are especially impressive- so fresh and well cooked . The main noodle dish is famous in south china (there's a Netflix china docu) and especially through Thailand Cambodia vietnam and they show the slight inflection of how we eat it in SE Asia. The condiments here are even perfect - just peer into the pristinely sliced chilis perfectly crisp in vinegar brine. Get the special w all the noodles and also the fried fish cake if they still have.
I'm sad to see how abandoned downtown SF and especially Tenderloin feels now on recent visits. A lot of restaurants are barely living anywhere let alone here. I hope selfishly they'll live on for many more years. Support them in all ways- and plz tip all the ppl well. Bless! 🥲“

“Decided to try Tin on a whim and was not displeased. One of the best Banh-mi in town with very generous portions of meat. Grilled Pork did the trick, charred, flavorful, I definitely recommend.

It’s pricey ~$15 for a Banh-mi but totally worth it. Expect to wait ~5-8 minutes if you come during lunch time!“

Only rank atmosphere low due to a large amount of families with loud kids wandering the restaurant... cest la vie.“

“Getting Teochew noodles in the USA is like a godsend. this is the closets I can get of the Chinese Teochew style fishball/ Mince pork noodle . the fishball is really good and all the garnishing is the way I like it !noodle texture is just right and they have the correct condiments to mix the noodle ( which is the dry type I ordered) .. Overall best noodle I can get in the US of A besides the one I get back in Singapore“

Good:
- The value of the family dinner is insane - we got the Hong Kong style and it came with like 5 different dishes
- I liked the eggroll, very crispy and came with a super tasty sauce
- The fried rice was really good
- We ended up with so much food we had another meal to bring home - and for less than $20 each!
- Service was incredibly fast and also they were very nice

“Holy Basil is one of our absolute favorite places to get delivery from in the Bay Area. Our kids are addicted to the bao buns and garlic noodles. I'm obsessed with the tofu vermicelli. Nothing is cozier on a cold day than their Chili Lemongrass soup. Nothing is more refreshing on a hot day than their fresh rolls and ginger lemonade. We love Holy Basil food!“

“So happy we got to be one of the first customers to ever eat at this new Thai restaurant. The place inside is pretty small, but the decor is cute & simple. They make the most of the room by putting as many small tables that fit with seating mostly for tables of two or four. We were literally the second table to ever eat in this new spot. And wow, am I glad I decided to search Yelp today for lunch. The service was super sweet, friendly, and perfect. We had a hard time deciding on what to try first (because everything sounded good and the smells from the kitchen were amazing). What we ordered: - Tom Kha Soup with Chicken Excellently flavors and just enough spice for me. My spouse loves really spicy dishes and said it would be delicious with more spiciness, but thought the broth was so good that it didn’t even need to change. We actually just wish there was an option to order a larger size, it was that good! Sometimes my spouse like to just have soup as the entree. - Green Curry with Chicken (comes with rice) Wow! Super bright and fresh taste! Smells really good and tastes even better. It was very fresh and loved all the vegetables inside (eggplant soaked up all the delicious flavor just right, baby corn- yum, etc.). - Pad Cashew Nut with Pork (comes with rice) AMAZING. Mouth-wateringly delicious. I did not want the dish to end. It was the perfect amount of flavor and freshness. Loved the cashews, the carrots, the onions, the cilantro on top. Perfect combination of sweet & salty sauce with nuttiness from the cashews, enhanced by the onion, carrot, cilantro. Since it was their first day, we enjoyed free beverages. The Thai tea was so good- you can get oat milk for $1 more. The Black Mango Iced Tea was also delicious and you get refills on it. I cannot wait to go back and eat every dish. Since it was their first hour open, we were there when the Doordash photographer came to snap pictures of all the dishes. WOW! We were eyeing the Lobster Ravioli and honestly it looks too good to miss. So we’ll probably be back later this week to try it and more. Congratulations on your opening. Thank you for bringing delicious Thai food to the area. We just moved up here from San Diego, and we’ve been having a hard time finding true Thai food and flavors. Many of the Thai places we’ve eaten up up here lack flavor or are just different because they’re fused with Laotian dishes or another type of cuisine. I got the Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles and a Fried Tofu. Unfortunately the grill wasn't on for skewers (I dined early before dinner rush).

- Broth wasn't that flavorful and looked and tasted a little like boiled dumpling water (which isn't necessarily bad). There was a lot of sesame oil and was too salty
- Noodle texture was the saving quality. Great chew.

Fried Tofu
- There was a lot of tofu in each piece which was great.
- It wasn't seasoned well. Quite plain; there was a sort of sweet soy oil at the bottom of the plate but being that it's fried tofu, it wasn't a great mix.“
