the vegan options here = awful lol. the mushroom one was super dry (i did get it without cheese). they had a vegan pinsa THAT THEY GOT RID OF (had it last time i was here 4 months ago). happy hour is $9 for the mini pinsas or wine or like some of their bar bites. the brussel sprouts were the star of the show lol. also slow service“

“My quest for the East Bay's best pies led me to June's, and let me tell you, it more than lived up to the hype. The line snaked out of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, but this is no ordinary queue—it's a pilgrimage. With 20 minutes to wait, we found sanctuary next door at Brix Factory Brewing, where we sipped on an IPA and noticed almost every patron had a pizza box on their table. It was a beautiful preview of what was to come.

The pizza itself was a masterpiece. The crust was a perfect blend of chewy and crisp, with just the right amount of char to give it a smoky, rustic finish. It was adorned with elegant ribbons of shaved Parmesan, which cascaded over the top like tinsel on a Christmas tree, along with a scattering of vibrant, fresh basil. But the real stars of the show were the hand-cut pepperoni. These little guys curled into delicious, crispy cups of flavor, cradling pools of savory oil in a way that just makes your soul sing.

“The hubby and I were killing time and found this place for dinner. We got seated and immediately. We ordered our pepperoni pizza. Since we sat at the bar, we saw them making our pizza and placing it in the wood burning stove. It took about 2 minutes to be baked and quickly served. Loved it! Everything was great. It can get a bit dark in there but it’s all part of the ambiance. We’re definitely going back!“

He was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and made me feel safe and confident about enjoying my meal. The gluten-free pizza was delicious, fresh, and flavorful—honestly one of the best I’ve had. It’s rare to find a place that truly cares about dietary restrictions while still delivering amazing taste. “As a former New Yorker/Jersey Girl living in the Bay Area, I miss authentic NYC pizza. Chef Laura has created something very special here. The Marg with vegan pepperoni is like no other pizza I've tasted in my 10 years in California. The sauce! The cheese! The vegan pepperoni! The combination of these ingredients makes this pizza sing. The crust was lovely too. If I were to grumble about one thing, it would be the cost. The pizza, delivery, and tip ran $50. But honestly, I'd pay the same thing again (and likely will) for this delicious wonder, because the ingredients were quality and it was scrumptious. I am especially inclined to support Pizzeria da Laura because it is a fabulous woman-owned business. Grazi!“

“Super tasty Roman-style pizza (with a great selection of antipasti too) served in a cozy, gorgeous space. I stopped by Montesacro SoMa with a friend for a weekend dinner after receiving multiple recommendations for this spot from several coworkers / friends. I got there a few minutes early, so I was immediately struck by how cozy and intimate the store felt; the staff seemed relaxed but on top of their game, and I loved that you could somewhat (but not quite...to preserve the mystery of it all) see the kitchen work their magic with a partially visible container of prepared dough, slightly exposed assembly counter. I love the walls of wine bottles, random chandeliers, and deli counter -- it genuinely felt like I was back in Rome.

For food, we started with the Sottoli, a plate of beautifully EVOO-marinated vegetables (red bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, and eggplant), topped with a bit of chili and parsley. I loved the simplicity of this antipasti; the veggies were super flavorful and delicious. It's a great vegetarian or gluten-free choice, but you can also get an order of their bread if you'd like to bulk up this appetizer. The veggies were delicious on their own, but also went wonderfully with the main star of the show, the pizza. We got their margherita just so we could compare this classic vs. other pizza joints, and they certainly did not disappoint. The tomato sauce was flavorful, with just the right mix of herbaceous, savory, acidic, and sweet, and the pizza was topped with a generous portion of melty mozzarella and basil. I love that they fully lean into the Roman-ness of their restaurant by serving the more ovular pinsa, with a slightly thicker, chewier crust and highlighting local Roman ingredients. Now that I've confirmed their margherita pizza (or, rather, pinsa) is 10/10, I can't wait to go back and try their other options!“

“New York pizza is hands down the best if you’ve actually had it, and this place is the closest I’ve found in the East Bay. My usual go-to spots were Slice House and Mama Boys, but this tops both of them. The crust and flavor have that classic NY tang and chew I’ve been missing. I also tried their wings and cannoli—both really good. This is officially my new go-to pizza spot. Bonus: easy parking in Oakland!“
