We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. The manager Isaid was amazing from the start helping me plan the event and order hundreds of pies. The large patio provided a private and cheerful atmosphere and was the perfect spot for the event. Carlos and the rest of the staff were amazingly attentive and handled everything we needed on the day of the event. “I've been going to Pieloon for a few years now and it is THE BEST restaurant in Downey! The food is always fabulous, the portions are large, the service is perfect! I've had appetizers, salads, pastas, steaks, burgers, sandwiches (I'm addicted to the BLT) and many of their specials. My family and I go now 2x a week and have trouble deciding what to get because it's all so good! And the pies...their pumpkin pie is the best I've ever had and the blueberry cheesecake is fabulous...but just wait until fresh peach pie season...I'll gain weight just thinking about it...the fresh peach is the best pie I've ever, EVER had! I love this place and the people who work there!! They're like family now!“

“A very small breakfast place. Quaint and friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious. Portions were a little all over the place. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon. Great flavor! Just the way I like it. It's just breakfast...in a burrito. But it was on the small side, normal store tortilla size not those giant ones you get from other similar establishments. My daughter got a side of bacon and a side of hash browns. There's no way I could have eaten all they gave her. Overall delicious. Would definitely come again.“

After we had all our flowery-needs yesterday I asked my wife to Yelp "best breakfast in DTLA" and it popped up - the Poppy & Rose - and we were standing in front of it. I must say two things: I did not find the ambiance too appealing and they you could hear through the open door it was extremely loud. Still, we gave it a try - and I can tell you: it was delicious. Our server - one you would describe as the typical California surfer boy - was extremely charming - so despite the so-so ambiance (the vibe of this place was great though) and the noise we will definitely go again. Would we make a 30+ min detour just to eat here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five out five): again, oh yes!“

“Let’s just relax with the overly hyped Italian sandos with the “uncle” in the name, it’s good and tasty and satisfying but this isn’t some mind blowing bite that overwhelms your senses and give you mouthfeel ecstasy.. it’s a solid sando that’s it, the bread is definitely the big winner, it’s perfect for the bite, but I wouldn’t go out of my way and take a ride downtown just to get it. It’s a solid pic if you don’t know what to choose with all the various options at GCM I’ll give them that. But generally speaking Italian sandos are overrated…“
