“Both hands up for this wonderful coffee place I happened to stumble upon, right outside the skirts of Downtown Berkeley. They're located right on the intersection of MLK and University, right behind the Indian restaurant.

This coffee place is honestly a little bit small, so please proceed with caution at all costs. But it really makes you feel cozy at home. They do have upstairs seating, but rather really limited. It will be full at times, and at times, not at all. It depends on the time that you go.

They have a wide assortment of sweet and savory pastries available as well. I got their ham & cheese scone, as well as their speciality drink, their banana cream iced coffee. I love how balanced their iced coffee is with the banana cream, which surprisingly, is made with ACTUAL banana puree made from actual bananas.

The barista who made my drink was very nice and very chill, and served it rather quick. That's what's up!

“I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was very fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced for the quality. The braised lamb sandwich had soft flatbread, crunchy herbs and vegetables, a tangy sauce, and perfectly tender lamb. The service was friendly, warm, and the food came out quickly. Fava is a lovely lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch in North Berkeley.“

“Go. To. Tarocco. You. Will. Love. It. Everything is healthy and delicious, but in an indulgent way that doesn't compromise on flavor. The owner could not be friendlier, or more welcoming and gracious. The chef clearly cooks with heart and soul and lots of experience. The atmosphere is sunny, inviting and beautiful. And the daily salads are always a home run. Because the salads are already composed, and you order at the counter, service is immediate. They also have delicious coffee and tea beverages, as well as a daily agua fresca and some really delicious-looking desserts (one a day). I'm vegan, and they have yet to offer vegan desserts, but they always have at least 3 vegan salads available. This is my go-to spot to bring out-of-towners or to go with a girlfriend for a lovely lunch in a beautiful environment. [NOTE: Only open for lunch on weekdays. Weekends and evenings, they're busy doing private events.]“

“This place is the best! All of their pretzels are delicious and inventive (Meyer lemon filling? Lox dill & capers so good you'll laugh at Boichik? Check!). They also have Obatzda, which few people here know. Uli and Sabine are super nice, as is all the staff there. They do a monthly pretzel class that is a lot of fun and will fill send you home with plenty of baked goodies.

They were moist, fresh, and distinct in flavor; not just sweet cake with coloring like store bought cupcakes can be. I will be back for more of these gourmet delights. I also enjoyed the quaint, buzzing cafe setting inside the Swan's Market where the Oakland location is located.“

“Wow acme is so good. If you haven’t, please try the pizza. You won’t regret it. All of their different pizza offerings are great. Also it goes without saying that the rest of the bakery offers are great as well. I often walk buy and get a sour baguette or pain epis to take home.“

“Hidden Gem!
This place is peaceful, clean and family-friendly. I love the large wood slab tables for working on the computer and staying a while. My favorite thing about this coffee spot is that they use quality ingredients: ORGANIC coffee and homemade blends. Skip the overload of sugar at Dutch Brothers and try this place. You will find it addictive.

“This is a casual restaurant with all the classic Vietnamese dishes. The staff is very friendly and the food is made very quickly. Everything is reliably really good and comforting. I highly recommend the tofu bahn mi, which is a quick, filling lunch for just $7.25.“

“The cutest little coffee shop attached to the Claremont. The service was impeccable. Attentive, kind, friendly, and warm. The drinks were delicious. Plenty of little snacks for hungry mouths. Games for playing. My wife would get a soy cappuccino in a ceramic mug every morning. I'd get a hot tea with honey, and a chai with almond milk later. Prices were reasonable compared to how much shops nowadays. Excellent shop! Highly recommended!!“

“Freshroll is one of my favorite places to eat in Berkeley. For under $7, you get a HUGE Spring Roll with a bunch of fillings and your choice of meat (or no meat). $1 extra for avocado (worth it) and you can also get an extra side of sauce, but the roll does come with sauce. I cannot recommend the chicken enough. It is the only warm thing about the roll but it is highly seasoned and delicious. These folks get your food out insanely fast and I have been here MANY times and have always received consistent, fresh food.“

The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! “I usually order the basil chicken or the green curries but everything is good there. Be careful if you request spicy, mom in kitchen will think you want it “Thai spicy” if you don’t elaborate. Thai spicy dropped me and I love spicy. 😂“

“Delicious, fresh and wholesome food! We were visiting from out of town and just googled breakfast in Berkeley, and this place popped up. So glad we chose it, because our food was delicious. Our group had the lox bagel, breakfast burrito, and the jumpstart breakfast with pancakes and bacon. Everything was quality and cooked well. The smoothies and espresso drinks were also great!“

It really know how to make a good sandwich and they know how to get really good customer service. Definitely wanted to make a review sooner than later, but this place is great. I do like everybody that works there. They're great every time I come here it never upsets. I haven't been coming here as much as I used to but every time I one night sandwich in the East Bay I come here“
