“I’ve been here a few times— usually during happy hour. I will say, when you catch the staff before the happy hour rush, the service and food is really spot on. Once I went during a very busy time and the service was slower than I’d anticipated, but Jack was really helpful in making sure I go the service I deserved and was really gracious when my order was messed up. “I just love this local Berkeley gem. Friendly, warm vibe where everyone is welcome. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the place. The coffee is THE BEST, the pastries are amazing. My go to breakfast items are the Spinach Feta Empanadas and the Date Latte. P.S. the music adds a nice touch to the place.“

“I spent about $45…for a whole bunch of yummy stuff! It’s amazing to be able to go straight to the bakery, and also kind of dangerous. You can see some of the menu on the window outside as you wait in line (there will almost always be a line), and you can peek in and see the day’s selection of breads and pastries. Only two parties at a time fit inside to order. There’s a small parking lot in front and more parking behind. I highly recommend the seasonal focaccia pizzas! An pain epi, just yum.“

“Atmosphere, outside patio and live music is great. The pizza, although very fresh, isn't very appetizing the next day. In fact, it's getting very stale even when attempting to warm up. If you buy pizza here, be sure to eat everything the same day. Also, the green sauce was great too.“

“This is a beautiful store outside and inside. After stalking this restaurant on Instagram and after I missed pop-up events for Oktoberfest, I finally bought some pretzels. Yummy! It was well worth the wait. I scored some of the weekly specials, the pesto and mozzarella pretzel. I also bought the jalapeño and cheddar. I will never buy one of those pretzels off the street carts ever again. I used to buy Auntie Annie’s soft pretzels at the mall, but never again. I am officially a pretzel snob now. I am making plans to go back to Squabisch for the pretzel sandwiches. The fresh quality ingredients are evident in every bite.“

“You can find any cheese you want here. While cheese gave the place it's name, most people come here for the awesome baked goods or the phenomenal pizza. You can get the pizza half-baked and finish it off in your home's pizza oven. If you are in Berkeley, it's a must-go kind of place.“

“Small shop with warm food and an open fridge section of sushi. There was also a wall of snacks. Prices are very reasonable. No verbal communication which I think is fine but the woman dropped my packed sushi upside down and then tossed it into a bag. Sushi rice was a bit too hard for my liking.“

“I usually order the basil chicken or the green curries but everything is good there. Be careful if you request spicy, mom in kitchen will think you want it “Thai spicy” if you don’t elaborate. Thai spicy dropped me and I love spicy. 😂“

It’s a popular restaurant here so it might be flooded with students around lunch time, and the waiting time might be longer during peak hours.

Only things is that the tips is mandatory as there’s no other option when you order through the pad.
Also, since they’re generous with their sauce, if you don’t like too much sauce, choose “sauce on the side” option and not mix in. ?

“Delicious, fresh and wholesome food! We were visiting from out of town and just googled breakfast in Berkeley, and this place popped up. So glad we chose it, because our food was delicious. Our group had the lox bagel, breakfast burrito, and the jumpstart breakfast with pancakes and bacon. Everything was quality and cooked well. The smoothies and espresso drinks were also great!“

“A nice sandwich place in Berkeley. The portion is good, and they have free lollipop that comes with the sandwich you order. I had Steph Curry, which is great. The sauce in the sandwich is pretty unique, and there is a lot of choices on the menu. The restaurant has great creativity and it is worth trying.“
