“A True Culinary Treasure on the West Coast!

Yesterday night, I had the opportunity to eat some Turkish food in Mateo Pizza Restaurant, and frankly, the experience far exceeded my expectations. Their lahmacun and sujuk (sucuklu) pide were, in a word, phenomenal.

As someone who has been searching for these authentic flavors for years, I can confidently say that this is the best Turkish style lahmacun and pide I have ever had on the West Coast. From the perfect consistency of the dough to the freshness of the ingredients, everything was so delicious and tasty that I felt as if I were back in Turkey at my favorite local restaurant.

The quality of the food is truly commendable. I sincerely wish that this level of craft and flavor could be spread across the rest of the United States! Mateo Pizza Restaurant absolutely deserves recognition for the authentic and high quality standards they maintain. I would love to see this quality of lahmacun and pide available in more places.

From now on, whenever I visit San Francisco, this place will undoubtedly be my first stop. I look forward to coming back regularly and savoring these flavors again. If you are looking for an authentic lahmacun or sujuk pide, make sure to put Mateo Pizza Restaurant at the top of your list.

“Anchored in the bay, all the way from Puget sound and a dinghy ride in for food. Walked around and quickly realized this was the busiest spot in town. Cold beverages outside made the wait alright. “After spending some time at half moon Bay Area, we were discussing which ice cream place we would go, so we decided to try a new place and l started to look on Yelp while on the road. We found this fantastic place, we loved the welcoming and the good energy. The place was so clean and the staff were friendly. I believe was the owner who took our order, he was so nice to us that we ended up talking about soccer, it felt so much like home. Flavors were amazing, we could taste the fruit in each ice cream, not so sweet, just perfect for our palate. I’m sure we will come back.“

The place was fairly busy and very steady with customers. The facility was neat, clean and well maintained. The full kitchen is within full view and was clean. The food was pretty good. The restroom was clean. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The food was pretty good and the prices were not inflated like in Half Moon Bay.

“My family and I decided to drop by because my mom had come here with a friend before. Upon entrance, I was sort of confused until we were led into an enormous seating area with decorated walls. We were sat down and the server, Natalie, met us with instant kindness. The menu consisted of a lot of cool dishes, but we decided on a simple meat-glass noodle combination thing that was put over one of those black circles that heats it up. After the meat was cooked, I tried some with the rice tthat was given to accompany it and everything tasted soooo good! I would HIGHLY recommend this place.“

We postponed twice because of the pandemic and in the course of that time changed our venue to San Benito House. Let me tell you, that was the BEST decision we ever made. Not only is the venue itself incredibly beautiful and the food so delicious, but Kai and his staff bent over backwards for us and all of our guests. Kai is the ultimate hype guy and he took what normally would have been a stressful event to plan, and made it so easy and fun. Prior to a recent visit, I had not tried an acai bowl. What a pleasant surprise! “I love this spot! My sister used to work here while I was growing up as well as a few friends while I was in my teens. It has always been a peaceful place to draw, read, catch up with a friend, and sip coffee with a snack. They have changed ownership a number of times and always retained good quality! From time to time a man will come in and play piano on the out of tune wooden one. Mostly 60s-early 80s music, he knows all the lyrics too! The landscape artwork by Pam Anderberg is really phenomenal and matches the coastal energy of the cafe. Couldn’t speak higher of a cafe in Pacifica!
The line can be a bit overwhelming on weekends if there is an event. When there was a running event I think it took 20 minutes to get a coffee and muffin.

Reducing a star because of a female barista here that gave terrible service. I asked if I could order two separate single shot espressos, instead of a double shot to which she responded “take your scam somewhere else this is a small business etc.” and generally took a harsh tone. I still ordered and just got a double shot. When I gave her cash for this, she tossed the change back across the counter from my purchase which slid onto the floor. This interaction has stuck with me as I’ve never had a problem visiting this cafe before. Anytime I see this barista behind the counter I decide I’ll just have coffee at home instead.“
