“We were seated immediately with a nice view. The cocktails were excellent, particularly the special on the board above the bar. Perfectly balanced, interesting and exciting. We started with the ceviche, which was incredibly fresh and bright on the palate. A perfect opener. We had the mushroom empanadas, our favorite of the day, which were rich in flavor and very satisfying with a coconut and cilantro sauce that made us order a second plate. We also enjoyed the yucca croquettes and the curry sauce.“

“My husband and I stumbled upon this place while searching on yelp and driving along HWY 1. It is such a cute tucked away cafe overlooking the ocean. Literally, amazing views!! The owner, Jocelyn, was such a delight to talk to. And her food was even more amazing!We had the tocino plate, adobo loco moco and the bibingka pancakes. We forgot to rate pictures of the first two dishes, but the pancakes, AMAZING. We definitely are going to be visiting more!“

“I was very excited to find Gherkins Sandwich shop while on a week long trip to HMB. As a vegetarian we usually get stuck with the same repetitive sandwich options when going to delis, but I was ecstatic to see that most of their sandwich options could be made vegetarian by substituting the default protein with tofu.I got a number 19 - Cal Fire with tofu which had honey mustard sauce, avocado and cheese (I switched the pepper jack for swiss). My husband got a #20 - The Sheriff with tofu, which had a Frank's Red Hot sauce. I loved the whole gherkins on the sandwiches! The biggest drawback for us is that the sandwiches were very messy to eat. The tofu ended up being cubed, so the sandwiches started falling apart instantly. I think it would probably be better if the tofu was cut into slabs if possible. I also think some extra seasoning on the tofu would be great.The sauces on our sandwiches were also a little runny, which kind of added to the messy-ness.We had gotten chips but didn't end up eating them because we were so full after the sandwiches. Overall a good option for lunch, but I would have preferred if the sandwiches were a little easier to eat.“

“This place was a huge pleasant surprise. It was a rainy/windy day and we were over in the area because we were just kind of driving the coast. We didn't expect much in this area because we were coming from the somewhat industrial looking side, but decided we wanted to look for a brewery. We googled and ended up trying this place out. Because of the weather, we didn't think there would be anyone else in here and didn't have super high hopes. We were so wrong! When we entered, there was a duo playing live music. They were enjoyable to listen to. There were also quite a few people in there of all ages and seemingly, different walks of life--always a fun thing to see. I ordered a flight and every beer on it was nice and crispy cold--the only way to enjoy beer in my opinion. And the flavors of every one were so impressive. We both love beer and are very impartial to our own local breweries in the town we live in--but coming here made me wish this was in our town! My husband ordered a pint of Sea Wolf and he really enjoyed that. I had the Love Boat on my flight which sounded intriguing to me. It was SO GOOD. It was an ill Ali eery and graham cracker sour. I'm not always a sour lover, but it was the perfect balance. I would say that and the Sea Wolf were my favorites. The gal working, Lauren, was incredibly sweet. We asked for some local suggestions of places she liked for food, drinks, etc. and she was really helpful--gave us lots of great insight. She also chatted with us about her dog and ours...overall just really cool vibes. This will definitely be a go-to spot on all our future visits to the HMB area!“

Really appreciated their early morning hours, as I was working remotely on central time so my workday started at 6:30am. Many of the other cafes I looked at in the area didn't open until 7:00am. The Yelp map seems to have them located on slightly the wrong location. They are around the corner. Use Apple Maps or Google maps for the proper location. It's on Harvard.Ordered an iced cold brew with a splash of vanilla syrup, a banana, and an almond danish. The service was friendly and helpful.The cold brew coffee was smooth and delicious and the almond danish was sweet and tasty. “This was a great meal to start the day. With lots of options from breakfast to dinner this is a perfect place for any time of the day. I had the souvlaki which came with soft pita and lots of tzatziki which I loved. The salad and fries were also a great side. My boyfriend had the home run and he said the sandwich was good and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was great as well! We chose a table outside and it was a little dirty but they quickly noticed and wiped it down for us. Parking can be found on the street.“

I highly recommend island chicken wings, spam fries, and my favorite, from the oven and straight to our table, served piping hot, Bibinka Cornbread. Delicious! I had to order twice. Don't miss out on their signature dish, the chicken loco moco, braised short ribs over rice, sisig fried rice, and seafood pan roast. We are frequent travelers to the Island, so we know a little about the dishes we tried. With that said, the combo loco moco stole the show for us. The best part of our meal besides the food, of course, was that it came in hot and we got our meal all at the same time. All the little things go a long way in my book. Of course, we ordered their classic go-to, fried bananas served with ube ice cream for dessert. It tasted like when our Lola (grandmother) used to cook for us growing up. It felt like home. We made sure the chicken sandwich we did not order was taken off the bill. Our appetizer never came. We made sure it was not in the bill. Ambiance was good. We like the HMB Brewery, have been there many times over the years and plan to be back. Food is fresh, well prepared, and well presented. I took one bite, was unsure so took a second. That was all it took to decide I did not care for the gravy. “This Hidden Gem of a place surprised the heck out of me! As soon as I came in I was greeted by the bartender Crystal who was fantastic and just started a week ago and extremely personable. Ordering was very simple right from your table using a QR code food and beer came out almost as soon as it got off the grill and the beers were unique and tasty there's a lot to choose from here. I had the fish and tots fish had a great taste to it with the right amount of spice on the batter the tops were delicious and come strongly recommended. I tried a few beers and no I'll be back to try more. Highly recommend this place especially if you want to enjoy outside Ambiance close to the water! The brulee French toast is beyond delicious. All the sides were hot and freshly served.
