“Still the best deal at the Emeryville market.
Big portions for the lowest prices you will find at the place. The chicken is so tender. The sauce they pour over the rice is awesome. I will return.
Vegetarian options: Half the menu is vegetarian.
Parking: Lots of spaces.“

“I would be speaking my deepest truth to tell you that coming here was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. The quality, the care, the explosion of delicious savory and exciting flavors. This is my new go to spot and a spot I will be sure to recommend to others and take visitors to before they leave. I'm not even saying this to be nice but i would be living a lie if I said this wasn't some of the best food I had in a long time. They master what they do and with such welcoming kindness.“

“I have the pleasure of eating here once for the buffet then returned for a birthday dinner. The chef/owner nicknamed “Gopi” is a very special human being as well as a great cook! He was so warm and welcoming! I felt like I was at a friends home rather than just a restaurant! That’s so rare these days. I love that they still have a buffet at lunch! That’s rare indeed. The food was authentic and excellent as well as reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back !“

“We rly enjoyed Tiya (ex ROOH chef’s new restaurant) so came to try ROOH which is a more casual but still modern Indian restaurant. Although the dishes weren’t as creative and meticulously executed, they were all very good! Nothing was impressive but nothing was bad either.
Would maybe come back to ROOH with friends, and go to Tiya for date nights :)
Recommend the dahi puri! The paneer pinwheel was ok - maybe our expectations were too high. The lamb shank was good. Chili crab was too oily and crispy prawns too sweet.
A bit overpriced for what it is - on the other hand although Tiya is more expensive, we felt like it was totally worth it. Still, a cool spot in the neighborhood to hang out and try smt new.“

“The best Momos and butter chicken and many other things you will eat in Berkeley. Have been living here since 4 years and I make it a point to walk down to the Resturant from the hills at least twice a week for their delicious food. The food tastes like what we eat at home, spices are a perfect blend, and the produce always taste fresh. Khendu & Gopal, the hard working couple behind the Resturant are super friendly and very kind.
It’s very close to University so you all see a lotta kids come for a hot meal & the love the couple have these kids is so beautiful.
I highly recommend Momo Masala. Our favorite place in Berkeley !“

“This is the best Indian food you can get in Berkeley! (Even better than Viks) We got the Vada Pav, Masala Chai and Donne Biryani. Everything tasted great and authentic! Vada pav reminded me of homemade ones in Bombay. Owner was very nice and welcoming. We are definitely coming back for sure!“

“I was headed to the post office on 13th street when I noticed this kabab restaurant. I thought, I'll stop in on my way back. What a treat, I had the curry lamb with rice. I must say that it has to the best curry sauce that I have ever had. The flavors were bold and rich and the lamb was cooked to perfection. I will most definitely be going back!“

“We live in the neighborhood and there are many, many Indian restaurants but this one is a standout. The ingredients are fresh, the atmosphere is more elevated, the prices are more affordable, and the recipes are wonderful particularly the tikka masala and saag.
Lots of places substitute quality for heavy oil and salt. This place just knows how to cook! It’s the real deal.“

“Awesome to have a quick, clean, and tasty Indian restaurant in town. Pani puri, malai kofta, and garlic naan were all great. This is quick and easy North Indian fare. Service is exceptional and while busy, I didn’t have to wait for a table for 1. If you are looking for Indian food in Berkeley, this is a solid choice.“

“I got Karahi Gosht and it was authentic and flavorful. Serving quantity was decent as well. I live in the South Bay and most places over there don't get this dish right. 5* from me, for the Karahi Gosht and Naan. Service understandably took some time because they make it fresh and piping hot. And I went there in between performances of standup comedy at Cobb's next door.“
“Thrilled to have a one-stop Indian store in Alameda! I'm so excited to have discovered a comprehensive Indian store in Alameda, conveniently stocked with all the essentials we need.
The store offers an impressive range of food options, including delicious home-style North Indian dishes that remind me of authentic flavors. This has been a lifesaver, especially during our kitchen renovation when cooking at home was a challenge.
Previously, we had to travel to Fremont for small items, but now we can find everything we need right here in our own town! Kudos to the store for catering to the local Indian community's needs and providing a welcoming shopping experience. I'm grateful for the convenience and variety they offer, and I look forward to continued patronage.
Only one little suggestion to keep some Indian veggies including curry leaves , green chilies etc“

“Truly phenomenal flavor. Never been to this place in person but I doordash from here often and the quality and taste of the food is just out of this world. I could only imagine how good this would be fresh in person. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out! My personal favorites and recommendations are the tandoori fish, butter chicken, and fish biryani.“

“Hole in the wall with delicious food! Today we had saag with potatoes (medium spicy was SO tasty) and vegetable korma with vegetable dumplings and sesame naan. Big fan of the sesame naan! Our usual order is bindi (okra) and lamb vindaloo, and veggie samosas - all of which we consistently love. My husband also got the cumin-spiced lemonade but thought it was a bit salty.“

“My dinner partner and I both agree that the physical atmosphere, and food were excellent. The place was almost empty on a Sunday night yet the service was mediocre. We had to keep tracking down the waiter for our hot water for the tea, box for take away, etc. Inattentive. The staff also seemed unhappy or dissatisfied with their jobs. The prices have gone up so don’t feel we got value for our money“

“Guys, for the price of Biryani out here in SF, they STACK it on for you. Straight up like 3 lbs of chicken biryani. And I absolutely HATE when restaurants have the audacity to charge extra for Raita (like some restaurants on Valencia). But look at the (free) raita they give. It’s like double the normal condiment containers. Best I’ve ever had? No, but up there for SF. They’re really looking out to make sure you get what you pay for.“

“Tilak serves a really nice dahi puri chaat that’s a perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. The crisp puris are filled with yogurt, chutneys, and spices, creating a burst of freshness in every bite. It’s a must-try for chaat lovers and a great way to experience the vibrant flavors of Indian street food!“

“The fried rice with the Gobi Manchurian tasted delicious and a fantastic pairing. Samosa chaat was delightfully tangy and the chilli momos were saucy and flavorful. The spice level customizations are carefully done - the mild offered no teary eyes and the medium had a kick to it. The Nepal ice beer was light and crisp. Portion sizes were huge and we had leftovers over 1-2 more meals. If you'd like to avoid leftovers and are moderately hungry, share a fried rice and an entree to pair it with. Service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back for more!“

“Tikka masala: spicy but good, great portions of tender lamb (I like spice but needed more rice).
Service was quick and friendly--a godsend as I was starving at 11pm. They serve food late.
Cocktails not my fave but good. You can't beat this place for late night food and drink, however. If I was still in college, I'd come here.
Great dim interior, cozy to hang out in. Noticeably young crowd, though.
I miss the old location but the new one ain't bad.“

“My newest favorite Indian place. After losing our all time favorite due to closure, we have been trying multiple different Indian restaurants. This place is tasty with a generous biryani portion size, larger than any of the other places we’ve been to, deserving of a good review! Humble but adequate interior- we’ve eaten in and gotten carry out and both were fine. Will be getting carry out here on a consistent basis unless something changes!“

“I love what they're doing here. The food is insanely good and I think the ordering system is brilliant—allowing for less food waste and an expansive menu. My wife also wants to point out that it was ready promptly. Tbh it could have been an hour late and I still would have given in 5 stars.“

“This has got to be the best dining experience located in North Berkeley. I ordered the special dinner, which includes a choice of an appetizer, a main dish with basmati rice and a dessert. “We had the chicken biriyani and litti chokha. Its really good. They are very close to the authentic taste. The chicken biriyani here is lucknow style which is a bit rare to find in the east bay. Irrespective of that detail, the biriyani is really amazing.
Portions and service, really good.
p.s: if you get a patio seat on a sunny day, you get a nice view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge.“
