We started with a shishito pepper appetizer and then shared the Pulpo a la Plancho (the octopus was so tender and well spiced) and the Chile Relleno, which is served in the Guiso tomato sauce. “I took my boyfriend here for a Californian wine tasting experience and it was so perfect. The vineyards are beautiful and expansive and free to roam through but the service is also just as special. We were hosted by Darren who was extremely knowledgeable about the tasting notes of every wine and the individual process it takes to make each bottle. Darren offered us samples of lots of wines too and we even got a special wine cellar tour that we weren’t expecting. He then introduced us to the family owner of the Dry Creek Vineyard itself (like meeting royalty!). He really made our visit so memorable. If you’re planning a wine tour whilst in the area, this historic site is an essential first stop!“

“Porter Creek Winery was such a peaceful gem and one of the highlights of our wine country trip. The team (Crystal) went above and beyond to accommodate us, even staying a little late so we could enjoy the experience — and we’re so grateful they did!

The setting was absolutely stunning — quiet, serene, and surrounded by natural beauty. It was the kind of view that makes you want to take a deep breath and stay a while. The wines were just as memorable, especially the Zinfandels — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

To top it all off, we were greeted by Poppy, the sweetest dog who made the whole experience even more charming. Between the warm hospitality, the incredible wines, and the peaceful ambiance, it was the perfect way to wind down our day.

Highly recommend Porter Creek for anyone looking for a relaxing, intimate tasting experience with a personal touch.“

Mazzocco Sonoma Winery Wineries •

“The tasting room is housed in a lovely, broad building with walls of glass and attractive architecture. There is a raised back patio, but I was glad to see that tastings were held on the front lawn and garden this hot Saturday afternoon. It offers shadier spots, and I chose one along the path that felt like my own cozy corner among the plants and butterflies.

It was still hot under the umbrella! But the tasting room staff kept my water carafe filled.

A few wines stood out among this tasting of five, with two bonus wines offered by the staff: Mazzocco Stuhlmuller Chardonnay Reserve 2022 and Mazzocco Seaton Zinfandel Reserve 2022.“

“Limerick Lane was our first stop during our wine country vacation. I chose all our wine tastings/stops based on small production wineries who farms their own grapes. They also boast Zinfindel for which the region is known for.

They made time for us as walk-ins, even though they were setting up to host an event. The wines were truly outstanding! We left with a few bottles and I recommend NOT leaving without a rose. Out of our entire trip, it was the absolute best.

We also had the privilege to meet the owner, Karen, who has a tender history with the winery. She is smart, kind, and passionate. If you spot her, make sure to say hello.“

“Healdsburg's best kept secret is Otoro Sushi, but thankfully it doesnt stop at just sushi. I happened upon this restaurant after going to my favorite place to shop for landscaping sculptures and misc. decor in Healdsburg, Garrett Hardware which happens to Otoro. Today, on my way home from UCSF we decided to try it out and to say we were in love at first bite would not be an understatement. We started off with a bowl of their soup which was delightful followed by a serving of tempura vegetables 😋😜 and we could not get enough or pick which one was our favorite. Then onto the main course one Bento Box with Teriyaki Chicken and its sides along with our sushi which consisted of 2- California Rolls, 2-Shrimp Tempura Rolls, 1-Yum Yum Roll 😋 (My Favorite) It came by its name for a reason and finally a Jalapeño Bomb Roll which is going home to the boy . 👦The only thing I forgot to add is I cant wait to go back.“

We did their chocolate + spirit pairing which included some very nice salted caramel chocolates (they were out of their normal chocolates which was a bit of a bummer). We got to taste 9 spirits and a bitters and they were all super tasty and really interesting and unique. The whiskeys were lovely and very drinkable, the gins were very uniquely flavored, and the liqueurs were all very tasty and also really unique and had lovely flavors. Matrix Winery Winery • $$

“Matrix Winery is located on a beautiful property just outside of Healdsburg in northern Sonoma County. Like many of the wineries in this region, pinot noir is a specialty of theirs, but zinfandel and chardonnay are also strong contenders. I was a member for the last three years, and each bottle was quality.

One of the reasons I joined Matrix’s wine club is how much I love their outdoor patio and its view. It's also an affordable tasting at $25. Don't hesitate to ask if you want to taste something other than straight pinot or zin, too! I quite liked a recent 50-50 petit sirah and zinfandel blend.“

Our server was wonderful, though I'm embarrassed to say I don't recall her name, she is blonde and was serving the outdoor patio tables. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, attentive but not intrusive. Highlights were the little Serrano ham sandwich and the steamed clams. Our server sensed that my husband needed some crusty bread to soak up the broth and brought some right away. We tried the red sangria which I would probably skip next time in favor of specialty cocktails. The patio area is so nice on a summer night, highly recommend. A really lovely experience overall!“

“J Winery has been one of my favorite places in Sonoma for years, and I’ve proudly been a member for at least the last three. The wines are consistently excellent, but it’s the full experience that makes this place stand out.

The Bubble Room is truly exceptional—Chef Forest creates beautifully paired bites that turn a tasting into a full culinary journey. It’s a must if you’re visiting. The Legacy Lounge also deserves a mention—the cheese pairings there are thoughtful and delicious, and I’ve spent more than one solo afternoon enjoying them with a view.

The setting is gorgeous, the wine is top-notch, and the staff goes above and beyond. Casey, in particular, has made our last two visits especially memorable with warmth and impeccable service.

If you’re in Sonoma, J Winery should be on your list. And if you can, treat yourself to the Bubble Room experience. It’s unforgettable.“

Special thanks to the chef, the chilled corn soup with a caviar was a culinary masterpiece. Also, the winery owner John Jordan came to greet us before our dining which made me feel like I was rather a special guest than just another tourist coming to purchase some wine. Armida Winery Wineries • $$

“OVERSHINE & COMUNITÁ VIBES - Had the opportunity to visit Overshine & Comunitá Wines recently and the experience was NEXT LEVEL. Just walking into the tasting room, surrounded by Stevie Wonder, Isley Brothers, & De La Soul vinyl with a record player with a restored Macintosh receiver and Klipsch speakers - off top, made me feel right at home. The attention to detail - from the wine labels to the cozy, mid-century modern space - every decision is made with intent and you taste that in each glass.

We kicked off with a beautiful Provençal style rosé that paired perfectly with goat cheese then rolled into a Sauvignon Blanc with perfect acid and a bit of roundness. That was followed by two Pinots from the Russian River AVA that showcased Pinot’s ability to beautifully express terroir. Finally, a bold Zinfandel brought me back to my some of my favorite early wine memories of drinking rich Zinfandel with big family meals… But they saved the best for LAST. Owner David Drummond sat with us and shared wines from his passion project Comunitá Wines. We then proceeded to go on a ride through Italian inspired wines made to honor both Sonoma terroir and Italian tradition. Friulano, Pinot Grigio made in the Ramato style, Refosco, & Sciava were all refreshing & inspiring. The wines were all delicious & crafted with organically farmed grapes but, most importantly, they make you feel DOPE. Low alcohol levels and bright acidity pair well with vibing to your favorite music, a wide variety of meals, or chopping it up with new friends about life and the passion to live ALL your dreams. Truly a tasting to remember:

The vibe was impeccable — music, culture, dope humans, & wines that transported me yet made me feel at home. It’s more than wine, it’s how it makes you feel. Dope Wines, Dope Vibes CERTIFIED.“
