“Narumi is for food to go. The prices are reasonable and the food is very good.Vegetarian options: I am not vegetarian but when looking over the menu they had a section just vegetarian.Parking: Located in a strip mall with a very large parking lot.“
“There are inconsistencies in the beef udon spice level. This is a recent change because it use to be a nice spice but not too much. I'm not sure if it's because of different cooks but several times we will get udon recently and it's way too spicy and you can see a reddish orange film on top of the broth of the udon that will indicate its too spicy. We actually asked them to make sure they didn't put a lot of spice, and it was extra spicy.“
“We absolutely loved our experience here and would come back in a heartbeat. The attention to detail, small group setting, high quality fish, and excellent service blew us away. Such interesting and creative flavor combinations without overshadowing the beauty of the fish itself. I’ve never had an omakase experience quite like this and would definitely recommend you splurge and try it yourself!“
“The parking is little tricky and sometimes you need to park on the street. The sushi and presentation is authentic and very very fresh. The two chefs create very friendly environment. We love going there. The price of the food is very reasonable and well worth it.They change the menu every 3 months. We definitely will be back.“
“The food items were delicious, great selection of interesting dishes. The wine list was impressive (we’ve been to major wine areas all over the planet). However, what we were most impressed with was our server Olivia. She knew the menu items very well - could answer any and all questions that we had. She expressed herself very positively. Rather than ask “are you still working on that?”; she asked “are you still enjoying your meal?” Rather than reply to a thank you with “no problem” or “no worries”; Olivia replied with “my pleasure.” When we go back; we’ll make a point of asking for Olivia!!!“
“It was just a beautiful, tasty, artful experience. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and feels straight out of Japan. The staff are attentive and kind. The reservation system is annoying, but once you get in it makes sense. They have a tiny seating capacity and I believe that's critical to the quality of their food. You have to get the full 2hr omakase. It's an incredible journey from start to finish. I've had sushi all over the world, this is some of the best I've ever tasted. If you sit at the bar (which you must try and do) you can watch their three sushi chefs prepare the fish right in front of you. If you're not used to Japanese flavors and textures, definitely come with an open mind! Most of the pieces they serve aren't the norm in American Japanese restaurants.I went for my birthday and the chef pulled a guitar out of nowhere and serenaded Happy Birthday with the staff. I've been twice and it's absolutely worth the price tag.“
“I spent my 21st birthday here and I couldn't be happier with my experience! The amount of care and time it took the chefs to prepare our food in front of us was a work of art. My boyfriend and I love Azuki and it's our favorite sushi place in San Diego, so he was so sweet to book a reservation here to surprise me on my birthday. If you didn't know, Kinme is an extension of Azuki and it specializes in Omakase. If you're a fan of Azuki, or if you just love sushi in general, you need to try this place!! We had so much fun and experienced new fish that we have never tried and we were so so full afterwards. My favorites were the wagyu tartar puff pastry and the braised wagyu. The scallop with uni on top also blew me away. The nigiri was outstanding. Every bite had me closing my eyes and I really just didn't want the sushi to stop coming. The service was amazing and everyone was so attentive. I ordered a hot tea and immediately after I finished my pot I was asked if I wanted more hot water. The chefs were very friendly and asked us repeatedly if we enjoyed the previous dish (which we always nodded excitedly). Right when you come in the ambiance is very relaxing and there's more than enough space between you and the people next to you. At the end, they gave us a physical menu of all the dishes they served us, which I thought was a very thoughtful touch and a cute souvenir to remember my 21st birthday dinner. (pictures and menu was from 2/28, which is a towards the end of their winter menu. Their spring menu might be a little different!)“
“Had an amazing time at Harmony. We sat at the bar and had the omakaze menu. The quality of the fish was incredible and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Chef Mickey does a wonderful job pairing flavors that have you happy to the last bite. Highly recommend; this place is a gem!“
“This place is beyond amazing! Not only LOCAL and FAMILY owned and operated, they do amazing work for the community. The food is absolutely delicious too! This is a wonderful place to visit by yourself, on a date, with family or friends, or meeting to with colleagues!“
“Good Japanese grocery store! I am so happy that it’s located in this area! I like Mitsuwa in general so it gives me comfort when I see it around! They are some restaurants in the store so you get to have hot japanese foods right there! :)Keep up the good work!Cheers ?“
“Good service is hard to find and excellent service is impossible, however the staff at Tabu Shabu delivered excellent service this evening. We were a group of 3. It was 20 min to closing and they welcomed us with a smile. The food was excellent. The flavors were on point. This was a 10 star out of 5. Great service is a lost art. This place is a gem. The staff understands the importance of creating a memorable dining experience.“
“Uncle Tetsu has become a pinnacle in my family home . This is my one true cheesecake love! I was there in the grand opening , and tried it for the first time. Now here I am still going to this day. The quality is never lacking and you can tell that the workers, put so much love and effort in those cheesecakes. I hope they know how appreciative I am of them. Thank you Uncle Tetsu for such delicious food!“
“I returned to this place after it changed the name and I love the food even moreIt’s good quality and fair pricing is why I come here more oftenThe chefs are great ! The service is ok once given the bill not a thank you or take your time ?Most of all the food is fresh that’s what matters and it was clean“
“We became a big fan of Kokoro and the chef. We had Sushi Omakase. My husband and I are from Japan, but this place had the best and most authentic sushi we've found anywhere in Japan or the U.S. I chose it for my husband's birthday, and it was a hit including the atmosphere and portion! We've since recommended it to some friends, and they've all been fans as well. We will definitely be going back soon!“
“My new favorite local sushi spot! Great selection of rolls and great quality for the price! They also have combo options. I've enjoyed everything I've gotten so far. My favorite is the Lemon Cilantro roll. Gotta support my local small businesses!“
“We loved the ambiance was very peaceful and all the decorations from outside painting to real pink flowers on the table and matching pink glasses were just so cute and well designed. Jasmine tea was served in a cute tea pot and they served without the tea leaves which makes the tea not bitter but soft flavor. Portions are big, worth the price. Egg omelette dish was good but had little too much tomato sauce. Our waitress was friendly. We really loved the house chicken broth soup and salad comes with sesame dressing. Overall, would recommend to anyone!“
“Ok I don’t write reviews for local places because I am on the run all the time. HOWEVER, when something blows me away I like to promote them. OMG the gnocchi bread amazingness is unbelievable! I have had gnocchi before even in Italy but severed in a bread bowl OMFG that is amazing. The vibe is trendy low key. I think this is my new favorite restaurant in San Diego! P.S. wife had sushi and said it was delicious (I hate fish so no idea there but she likes it for reasons unknown to me?). Perfect date night or couples who have different palates. Just a great place you should go!“
“Came here on a weekday for lunch and sat at the sushi bar. Hane Sushi closes at 2pm, but reopens later for dinner. It wasn't too busy when I walked in around 12:30pm, but they had a solid amount of tables about an hour later. Service did not appear to falter just because it was close to closing... it actually got even more attentive, but not in a pushy "we're about to close" way. Staff here is super nice and I can tell that the chefs are happy to chat with customers to find out what they like. I got the crunchy salmon roll ($24--the menu posted on their website says $19, but that's very outdated) and the special ceviche roll ($27). Based on past reviews and pics on Google, the ceviche roll has been available for several years now (and should probably be on the regular menu), but maybe they switch up the fish here and there? Mine had spicy tuna/avocado inside and was topped with seared yellowtail, cilantro and jalapeño.The fish was verrrrry fresh and of great quality. The location and ambiance is also nice, but nothing special. I will say though, that the entire place was super clean, even the bathrooms.I think that Hane's prices are a little higher than they should be, but I feel like that's most places in SD. The fact it cost me about $50 for two special rolls during lunch is the reason why I won't be back again anytime soon. I There are other places in the area that offer quality sushi with lunch specials, or just more reasonable pricing generally. I'd still recommend Hane Sushi to others based on the quality and good experience, but this place is better suited as a date night rather than a stop for lunch.“
“Food is excellent here. It's a feast for your eyes as well as your stomach. The yellowtail Crudo is one of my favorites. Chef Nghi and his staff are top tier. One of the best sushi restaurants in San Diego. You won't be disappointed.“
“National City & the South Bay area are quickly becoming a foodie paradise. This place is new to me but I really liked their menu options. We had a unique Sushi n Gone roll, some delicious soup & a nice side salad. Come early because parking is limited during peak hours. Family friendly tho they do serve beer. Great staff.“
“This place was a pleasant surprise for me. The food was very delicious and we came on a great day where it was cold and rainy outside. It look a little but longer than usual to receive the food and bill, but the taste of the food, friendly service, and great atmosphere made up for that x 10. I wish I lived closer to keep eating here!“
“One of the best in SD/convoy. Chef John owns both hidden fish omakase and this elevated Japanese izakaya and it hits the spot. You can order a la carte here and also get alcohol. They have everything seafood from scallops to pork belly rice bowl!!! The atmosphere is super calming and professional. The servers were very attentive and seemed like they knew what I needed at all times. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a fancy date night or with friends who want an ELEVATED IZAKAYA experience and for those who have good taste. 10/10 would come back again, & I heard they have a chef's course menu coming up so keep your eyes peeled!“
“Im mad at myself for not coming here sooner. This is the place to go when you're craving Japanese katsu curry. The curry is delicious .The customized spice is perfect. Eggs are cooked perfectly. Definitely get some garlic naan to sop up the remaining curry.“
“BESHOCK Ramen East Village is a hidden gem for ramen enthusiasts! The moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The menu features a tantalizing selection of authentic ramen dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.“
“I live in Japan 40 years and co invested and ran a chain of 500 sushi shops. My expectations for Azuku Sushi were low, but I was totally wrong. I was just totally surprised by the amazing quality and authenticity of the food, the friendly and professional service, and the excellent drink and sake list. The sushi neta is huge and very high quality. The Otoro is perfect. The "San Diego" local uni is a good as anything I have had in Japan. The menu had Hamachi Kama which we could not resist and it was prepared perfectly. On top of the food menu, Azuki has the best Japanese whisky list in San Diego. And served perfectly with high quality clear ice. Be careful, the top shelf is all the cheapie fake Japanese whiskies but the bottom shelf is the real thing. It doesn't get better than Azuki Sushi. It's perfect!!“
“Okay so I found this place here on Yelp in search for a really good sushi restaurant and I believe I found what I was looking for! The ambiance is hip, modern and welcoming! The service is outstanding! From the minute we're were seated our server was extremely friendly and excited for us to try the sushi dishes! He gave us very good recommendations! We ordered the live uni and it was amazing! We continued with their spicy garlic edamame, spicy yellowtail roll, and half moon roll and all were impressively fresh! We are definitely returning to this place for good sushi!“
“What a cool spot! I’ve never seen anything like it on where I’m from on the east coast. The shop felt like a pizza or burger joint, it didn’t have the usual Asian restaurant feel that most sushi places have. Katy, the bartender was so friendly! There were 10 beers on top and the happy hour deal put the price of a beer to $4.50! What!?I ordered a rainbow roll and a hot hot roll. Everything was super fresh. The rainbow roll was delicious and beautifully presented. The outside of the roll alternated pieces of salmon, tuna, and avo sashimi style to create an alternating color “rainbow” pattern. It was a neat detail to an already great bite. The hot hot was fairly mild and tasty, would definitely order again.“
“Amazing service and fresh food. Came here after hiking with our two year old and intended to take out, but he was so hungry we ended up eating at the tables outside. The kind staff checked on us the whole time and were very child friendly. We enjoyed an unagi bowl, chicken veggie bowl, avocado/salmon roll and Cali roll. Everything was solid and fresh. A very welcoming restaurant!“
“I cannot say enough about Domo Kitchen. The food has been great and the service is always good. The Won Ton soup on a cold night is just the right thing.Parking: There's just so much going on in the mall that parking can be a challenge some times.“
“My wife and I were in town for a conference, it was a little further from our hotel, but it got decent reviews so we thought we would try it. Man did it not disappoint! Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had, and the service was amazing! The food was much more affordable than it has right to be. I will be going back the next time I’m in town!“
“Small neighborhood sushi spot with great sushi and sake! The sake specials are something to definitely take advantage of! Unfortunately the bang bang corn was not in season during my most recent visit, but we’ll be back in no time. It would be best to call for a reservation, as they do get busy.Parking: Parking sports in front of restaurant and neighborhood parking.“
“This place is nice! We went for dinner. The atmosphere was lively on a weekday, so I imagine it could get way busier on the weekend. I can understand why the pricing is a little on the higher side. The portions are decently sized and good quality. We did not order any nigiri or sashimi in exception to the Yellowtail Serrano. From the many things we tried, I would recommend the Akira Back Pizza and Rock Shrimp Tempura - not to say that the other items we ordered weren't delicious... it's just these 2 items are special enough to come back for.“
“Delicious and artful shabu shabu for a great price. I loved the sukiyaki and shoyu broths and the great dipping sauce combinations. Read the instructions on the menu for some help! The egg is pasteurized so you can crack it in the bowl and use it as a dipping sauce for your hot meat bites. The yolk is the best part .The server is very skilled but he serves many people at once so he can be a bit short but he is kind. I left my ring in the bathroom and he saved it for me so I could pick it up the next day ☺️. Don't take it personally. The shabu shabu and experience is well worth it.“
“It's a very unassuming place. The ambiance in this bistro is suitable for a nice lunch or dinner date--no loud music. The staff and their service are very superb. I've been looking everywhere for a good mentaiko pasta similar to what I had in Japan - and I found the place! They're very affordable as well. I highly recommend it.“
“A delicious omakase in San Diego! Shoutout to our cousin for taking us here!We had a reservation at 7:30PM for a Saturday evening meal. I believe we were sat on time and we got right into drinks and the course. Staff was friendly checking in on us and Chef TJ was fun, positive, and created a great omakase environment!I won't go into too much detail of each fish (as the menu can change with each service), but for the value, I thought it was an amazing meal!Parking is relatively easy to find in the plaza.I'm headed back to San Diego next week...so I'm going to have Matoi again :D twice in 2-3 weeks is my kind of vibe!“
“This place is one of my favorites in the list of hotpots. I have never tried their bbq because I have a favorite place for that but the hotpot is great and the options are as well. Totally recommended. It is a ayce. What else can you ask for?! You won't regret this place, and you'll totally come back.“
“Just a perfect find on our trip and stay in the gaslight district for business. Food was fresh and expertly prepared. The price was very fair in general, but especially considering the location. We tried other places before we ended up here, and then we just kept coming back. I think that says everything.Thank for the wonderful food and recommendations.“
“I've been craving some fish and this had really hit the spot! I had gotten the sashimi bowl and it was really satisfying, the fish was cut into larger strips and it was tender and it didn't have a strong fishy smell to it. The rice underneath was quite good as well it was flavorful without being overly vinegar-y. Also if anyone was wondering what the difference was between the sashimi bowl and the sashimi set with rice (both of which are the same price), it seems like there's more rice in the sashimi bowl and there's some crushed seaweed and sesame seeds on the sashimi bowl between the rice and the fish. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, I don't think I would bring more than 2-4 people with me.“
“We came on a very empty stomach, excited to try Japanese food in San Diego. Parking was the usual busy in the plaza on a Sunday but since it was only 11 am, we quickly found spots. There wasn't a wait at all and we sat outside. Service was fine and while this spot feels more hole in the wall with its setup and ambiance, the food was yummy! He ordered the beef curry udon and I ordered the mentaiko udon. The mentaiko was so creamy and popping with flavor! Thought unexpected, I liked the mushrooms. Noodles were cooked just right and it was very filling. He enjoyed his dish too so good on all fronts for us! Will definitely come back to try other dishes!“
“The food quality and the staff's service are top notch. However, the pricing is way off. After spending $150 on two people I was hungry so went to H Mark down the street and got a pastry. I also ate a spare jerky that was left in my car. The tea was delicious as well.Next time, I'll probably go to the Korean BBQ in the same shopping center and the two of us will eat and be full for 1/3 the price.“
“Ambience is simple but nice and clean, we went there in a busy Sunday and got seated right after 5min ish. Service was good but food was OK. As a ramen & guioza big fan I can tell there’s so many other places that are better flavor wise on those items! I didn’t try anything else so maybe I’ll be back for another shoot in the sushi menu.“
“Family run sushi a-la-mexicana!! Food truck sets up Friday-Sunday and offers extensive menu of Japanese and Chinese favorites, including delicious sushi rolls. My Alaskan Roll hit the spot. You can also call and order ahead of time. Will definitely be back to try their other plates and rolls!“
“Very good Asian inspired bowls. The pork belly bowl with rice was good and the umami gravy on top was delicious. I got delivery and the bowl was still fresh and hot. I'll definitely be ordering from here again.Update: the chicken karaage bowl wasn't that good after sitting for a while but I bet it's good when it's fresh and crisp at the restaurant“
“Great food, great prices (happy hour especially) and great service. Doesn't look like much from outside but I would strongly recommend it if you are looking for some delicious maki/sushi.Kid-friendliness: They are very accommodating from making child friendly chopsticks available for the little ones to splitting the drinks (in large cups) into smaller cups.“
“We visited with friends and ordered a wide assortment of dishes: rolls (Tommy roll, Lemon roll, cut roll) udon, poke, miso soup, and also tried several appetizers: crispy salmon skin, edamame, and spicy edamame, fried gyozu, and assorted fried vegetables. The food was surprisingly well done, it was clear that great care went into their menu and dishes. Everyone was very pleased, and feeling very glad we gave this place a chance -- we'll be back!“
“I ended up coming here with my husband and some friends after they suggested this place since it’s a short walk away for all of us. We had yet to find a good sushi spot in the area so I’m really glad we came in. The food is fresh and really good. I loved their yakisoba and my husband has tried a couple of different sushi plates and has loved them all. I’m sure we will be coming here often now!“
“What a wonderful surprise! Not being very familiar with Vietnamese cuisine and wanting to go to Vietnam, I wanted to start eating Vietnamese food. The salmon spring rolls were great - not crunchy like I would have expected. I then ordered the Saigon chicken noodle dish! Scrumptious! I couldn't determine what the sauce was made of but it is soy sauce-based. There is a free salad with the best tofu I've ever had. Also 2 choices of free flavors of ice cream for dessert. Fast service and generous portions. The restaurant is not very big and diners have written all over the walls. A bit grungy actually. One of the waiters is a kick! It's actually an Asian fusion restaurant with Thai and Japanese dishes, too. Definitely a place I'd go back to.“
“Absolutely delicious food! I have tried mostly everything on the menu and absolutely nothing has disappointed! Very reasonable pricing considering portions and quality! Food is made fresh which is always a big plus! 100% recommend! Very friendly staff as “
“Brought the family here, got a great table and food. The family that runs this business were exceptionally accommodating, sweet and great at what they do. The food was delicious AND they had gluten-free beer on draft!! Made my wife very happy. The bento box was the deal!“
“What a delightful & delicious addition to the Grossmont's FoodCourt Center !!! This eatery spot only opens 2 days a week and the rest of the days you can catch them at a Farmers' market! so catch them whenever you can! Don't miss out on what they have to offer! The 2 entrees my husband and I ordered were flavorful and well seasoned. We both finished and left our boxes emptied and cleaned . The owner did an exceptional job by making sure if we had any food allergies when taking our orders. This is something that rarely happens where business owner take the cautious and careful step to ask and make sure customers are safe. So we really appreciated that very much! We can't wait to come back and catch you on the days the eatery spot opens! A MUST TRY!!!! :D“
