“Getting anything from here is such a treat. The super burrito is massive and I usually split it with my girlfriend and still have half a burrito the next day. It’s as big as my forearm! Handmade tortillas on the tacos and the meat is seasoned and cooked perfectly, never chewy. The horchata is soo good too and they ask if you want ice, which is very nice. Even their salsas are exceptional. They used to have pickled red onions with habanero that was SO good to eat alongside but don’t offer that anymore which is a heartbreaking honestly…please bring it back!!!“

Churros Guerrero Mexican • $
4398 Bancroft Ave, Oakland

“I have lived in Oakland for 20 years and honestly, I have seen the reviews years back and always had it in the back of my mind to check them out since they were close. However, I never got the chance because I would always forget. However, last week, my daughter wanted churros, so I made the decision to finally try it out. OMG!!! Probably not the best idea because now we are addicted!! They were fresh and hot. My oldest decided to try the caramel filled one while my youngest and I got the plain. Well, they were crispy on the outside and soft and doughy in the middle. It was sooooooo good, we went back the next day and got more. Yikes!! I would have taken a picture but they never seem to last long enough for us to take a picture. Our first experience with churros was at Disneyland years ago and we fell in love but throughout the years, the quality at Disney started to decline and the price increased, and I wasn't a fan anymore. So, in my eyes, these churros here is IT!!!! Price isn't bad. $1.50 for each plain and $2 for ones with filling. However, I will note that the churros aren't like the super long ones but I think they are still fair with the prices and honestly, two of those were more than enough for us. The whole fam is completely hooked!! Check them out when you're in da town.“

Benyjuana Tacos Tacos • $

“Felt like I was back in the motherland (Mexico). The dark, sketchy street just adds to the atmosphere. This place takes zelle if you don't have cash. The tacos are 3 bucks a pop, and they fill them fat. Best dang taco I've had in a while.“

“The family the runs this place is adorable. I really only have the breakfast and everything comes out fresh, including the salsa. The breakfast plates and breakfast burritos are awesome. I would bring my team here and they all loved the food. The area out front is gritty and puts off a lot of people. I personally have never had any problems here. Unfortunately, that's the rough side of down town Oakland.“

“Ah, the setting changes but the essence remains. Tacos Guadalajara isn't a brick-and-mortar restaurant; it's a taco truck. But what it lacks in tables and chairs, it more than makes up for in atmosphere and mouthwatering fare.Picture this: you pull up to the taco truck, parked strategically amidst the hubbub of International Boulevard in Oakland. A queue of eager patrons waits their turn, socializing and nodding along to the music playing from car radios. Some have made this visit a part of their daily routine, while others are first-timers lured by the truck's growing reputation. The aroma hits you first, a tantalizing blend of grilled meats, zesty citrus, and earthy spices. Even before you see the menu, you're already imagining the taste of tender carne asada, the kick of fresh salsa, and the comforting embrace of a warm tortilla. When it's your turn to order, the interaction is quick but warm. The owners, who also run the esteemed Guadalajara Restaurant, have perfected the art of speedy yet quality service. You place your order and in mere moments, you're handed a plate so artfully arranged it could rival any five-star establishment. You retreat to your car, the lack of traditional seating hardly a concern now that you're so close to diving into your meal. The first bite is euphoria, an exquisite dance of flavors and textures that belies the dish's humble presentation. It's simple, yet perfect—authentic Mexican cuisine at its finest. Each morsel feels like a tribute to culinary traditions honed over generations, delivered from the bustling heart of Oakland straight to your taste buds. The experience is deeply personal, as though each taco, each burrito, each plate of nachos was crafted just for you.You savor the final bites, already eager for the next opportunity to revisit this mobile gastronomic haven. You may have eaten in your car, but you leave feeling as fulfilled as if you'd dined in the finest restaurant. And so, Tacos Guadalajara remains an unmissable spot on International Boulevard—a taco truck in form, but a culinary institution in spirit.“

NIEVES Y RASPADOS GONZALEZ Food Stands • $$

“Unlike the previous reviewer, I felt perfectly safe while coming here. I parked inside and although I was coming for Mama Cuca, the charm of the staff selling carnitas really called me!Totally Mexico style they offered a free sample and of course I ended up buying a pound of carnitas to take home ?The carnitas are cooked to perfection, tender, tasty, accompanied by fresh tortillas hand made to order. The salsas are great but the real game is in the meat. They told me the nieves truck is the same business, that’s why I am posting here. The lady making tortillas told me they make their own syrups with fresh fruit for the raspados, next time I will come for snacks from that truck. As always, make sure to tip your servers and cooks!! It’s a blessing we can find these delicious fresh dishes at affordable prices ???“

Tamales Doña Tere Mexican • $

“Really tasty tamales! They're a bit small, reflected in the price. The corn talales were the best and the chile and cheese were also delicious. The chicken and pork were a little light on filling, but still very tasty. But the green sauce! They should bottle that stuff, it's SO good!“
